I'm surprised Brazil hasn't unplugged and rage quit yet.
Joking aside, it will be interesting to see if Germany will continue to play aggressive of if they turn Italian and just play for the clock. I hope we'll get see many more goals

Our broadcaster talked about 180 people committing suicide when Brazil(?) lost the world cup some years ago. We all looked at each other in the most hilarious and awkward moment of conscience ever.
But that aside, I really do expect death after this game, one way or another.

Glorious.
And if Özil wasn't so bad this days, we would be talking about an 8-0

damn, now i wished i had watched the game. i was only able to get the scoring shots on espn. from what i caught, it looked like brazil's defense was garbage. germany was definitely in the zone, as well.

It's not that that match in particular sucked or not...is just they way you describe the only strategy you saw...that sounds so negative it discourages arguing with you

So Germany kicked Brazil out of their own World Cup with 7 to 1? This is too good. Poor Brazil. Can't wait until HC's own Germans give us their thoughts about the game.

watching a game where no one scores is a waste of time, and a real aggravation for me. watching a game where a team gets stomped, on the other hand, is highly entertaining; at least, much more so than people who group around their goals like chicken****s. which is what i saw in the previous game that i was so pissed about.
a perfect game, to me, is one where the players are evenly matched in skill, and yet, they score back and forth, without massing around the goal like nutless pantywaists. something like that is watchable, even exciting, regardless of if i care about the teams or not(football is the same way for me).
to be honest, there was no arguing with me, as far as the game that pissed me off went(and looking back, i still feel i was justified in my anger, if only for that game). the mistake i made, was assuming that ALL soccer was an abortion like that other game was, merely because the strategy i saw, i thought applied to all soccer games. i regret not watching the latest game between brazil and germany, for sure. at least now i know i can watch it live on espn online(i don't have cable).

Oh, dear lord, Brazil was so terrible (soft word) - disconected lines, total chaos between the defenders and no idea how to attack. I do not mean to belittle Germany's victory (7-1 is a serious score even in 1930 ) but it seems Brazil was dead even before the match started (in the dressing room). The Germans got so easy the first four goals that I'm still processing and can't comprehend it . On a serious note I haven't seen Brazil so scabbed but it seems the history itself haven't seen such thing too. This match will be remembered for 50+ years. The "big" defeat against Uruguay in 1950 will be as a pleasant dream now. After 64 years Brazilians have a new 3.5 times worse nightmare.
And now something by the pros
Gary Lineker: In nigh on half a century of watching football, that's the most extraordinary, staggering, bewildering game I've ever witnessed. (Source)

Soccer is the best spectator sport in the world imo. There are relatively poor games, good games, and great games like any sport, but that isn't even necessarily determined by the goals. You can have a 0-0 game and still have a lot of suspense from it because of so many close calls and fast counterattacks. The sparsity of the points compared to other sports just makes it much more climatic whenever you do have one. Just compare a basketball game to a soccer game. When somebody makes a net, you barely hear a whimper from the crowd. When you make a goal in soccer, the stadium starts shaking. It's also the most well-rounded in terms of the qualities it demands from its players. You need to have speed, agility, stamina, strength, precision, creativity... if you lack a little bit in any of those qualities you won't be a star player. If you think the players in the field are just kicking the ball around, it simply means you haven't given yourself a minute to understand what is happening on the field. They're trying to find openings and to avoid interceptions. There's a lot of tactics and improvisation involved with trying to make an effective attack on a goal.

About the game: it's a huge win for Germany and a humiliating defeat for Brazil. The important part at this point is for the German team not to become mentally soft and go into the final with a godlike mentality. They made some beautiful offenses this game, but let's face it: this 7-1 game has far more to do with the absolutely horrendous playing of the Brazilian team. Pitiful coordination, and they were even physically slow and clumsy. This is just one isolated game, and we can't expect Netherlands or Argentina to fall apart in such a way in the final.
It was amazing listening to the crowd as the game progressed. It started off so deafeningly loud and then it just dwindled down to muted, mortified stares. I really do think the crowd played a big role in the Brazilian team's downfall. Just so many expectations and such gargantuan pressure being pressed down on their shoulders that it became unbearable and they collapsed as a team after Germany gained a 2-0 lead.

i did only see one soccer game(my entire life) all the way through(but to be fair, when you see one game of any sport, you get a feel for the rules that everyone plays by, which is why i made the assumption that the same tactics were used in all soccer games). regardless, i'll have to check a couple more out, before properly forming an opinion. like i said, 0-0 scores are both boring, and frustrating, for me.
that said, i don't like watching basketball either, for the opposite reason you mentioned. football will always be my favorite sport to watch(besides ufc), but i change the channel no matter what, if the game is boring. i didn't have that option at the get-together, as it wasn't my house. so i sat and stewed, and then voiced my disapproval for how the game went, here.

people look for excuses to riot, if you ask me. it could be anything at all that "sets them off".
and, who could deny, that rioting just might be not only fun, but therapeutic, as well? aside from being a prick by stealing; and destroying things that don't belong to you, that someone else has to clean up, it really isn't so bad a thing for the masses to delve into.
that cleanup comes out of taxpayer's pockets, just like everything else. they might as well get what they pay for. so party on, wayne(s).
