Divinity: Original Sin
Felt like playing Dragon Age again and then remembered "BIOWARE. ME3. NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER FORGET" and looked for alternatives.
Anyway uh, Divinity: Original Sin, tactical turnbased CRPG done right basically.
This game looks cool as all hell and I'm having fun just sitting in my couch with a cup of coffee IMAGINING how I would build my party.
Looks old-school but still accessible, cool devs that listen and love their game. Spell combos, environmental tactical ****, love the sound of it.
Anyone play it? Thinking of buying it once I see how the update with the new companions turns out.

Hmm, I was thinking about getting it but actually bought Dragon Age Origin for not even 2€ (never actually played till now)
However I'm still very interested in original sin as i read that its well made and loved divine divinity in terms of design and atmosphere. So if you get it could you write your Impressions and stuff?

Played dragon age to death on the xbox, bought it on PC as well not that long ago and I can see why it really shines on the PC. Apart from the mods that improve the game aesthetically the gameplay felt completely different. I mean I had such a real struggle on the xbox to get through insanity, but on the PC it was a piece of cake with what I already knew about the mechanics, and the ease with which I could give orders just made me warm inside. (on the xbox I had to rely on auto commands, especially for companion healing and whatnot, which often didn't work as I'd hoped, causing frustration) Late game rogue is near invincible, and it's pretty funny (if somewhat annoying at times) to just watch my character do nothing but dodge attacks. Still, my fav class to roll with is still as an arcane warrior, just love it. Warrior is too plain for me, and rogue can be fun, but I like the battlefield control that support/offense/tank/Crowd control combo offers. ]

I have bought it, but still waiting for a friend of mine to get his new pc build so we can team up together.
It looks really cool and I have seen a few YT videos and some Twitch about the game and I can't wait to get started.
And combos....heck yeah - setting fire to some monsters standing in pools of oil or the like and that big freezing aoe and after through some fire at 'em so it gets cloudy and diminish their line og sight
Can't wait ....

Btw I also got it together with a friend and have played it for a few hours with him in coop. The game's definetly worth buying, the devs didn't promise too much. Typically for a divinity game it's full of details, hidden places, lots of strange and funny happenings/characters and basically complete freedom regarding what you want to do and where you want to go. The round based fights are very well done (and we're only at the beginning withonly few skills and stuff). What i really lvoe is the music, most of all the remixes of the origginal divine divinity tracks wich were pure epicness back than and have (for me) only gotten better with all the nostalgia going on (divine divinity was my first or second rpg i've played). I literally just stood there motionless when i first heard these remixes (while my friend was goiing around stealing everything possible and accidentally angering all the townspeople). But to enjoy the game to it's full extend i would really recommend to play it in coop as it was actually designed as a coop-title.

Mixed feelings. The game has pretty much all good and bad things from the old school.
The combat system and the usage of the environment are quite good, the team interactions are nice, the dialogues are written well (most of the time), the music is good, the entire atmosphere feels like something done in the 90s.
On the other hand - crates, boxes, chests... hundreds of them, why?! Bad inventory management, tons of items with no direct application (read - junk) and poor to no explanation how to turn them into something useful, must move gold between the party member if you want to buy something with a different character... And damn it, the errand boy quests! Find the lost sheep and similar crap, who the hell cares?!
I suppose I have to play more than 10 hours in total to pass judgement.

You can set the game to allow 4 players (2 as henchemn with no dialogue options though) and I've been playing with 2 friends. I don't really care much for the plot because the combat is amazing.
The enviroment changes drastically with each turn if even a minimum of spells is involved and with us playing 2 mages with all element school unlocked things are pretty ridiculous/hillarious. Most of the fun comes out of the multiplayer aspect since you can screw with your buddies in A LOT of ways and the effects themselves are well done and satisying to use.
friend is on the verge of burning to death?
freeze him, magicka style
cant get to that pesky archer in the back?
teleport him onto your two-hand wielding buddy. or teleport your two-hand wielding buddy onto him!
enemies bleeding all over the place after meeting your two-hand wielding friend ?
THUNDER ZAPZAPZAP
the entire field is covered in poison and pesky enemies heal off of it??
HIT THE GROUND WITH YOUR FIRE ENCHANTED BATTLEAXE, WATCH SCREEN EXPLODE
at this point I couldnt care less about the plot and even the sub-par inventory management

This is a good game! At first I thought it was boring but as I got familiar with the game I began to love it. The only problem I keep getting is I crash sometimes when I save games. Also is there a chance I could get to create my 3rd and 4th party mates? Or the game will provide me some?

The Enhanced Edition is out, I read they introduced party gold and mass repairs which addresses two of the biggest problems I had with the original sin... game. There seem to be many other improvements all around so I'm kind of tempted to give the thing a second chance.

I'm tempted to get it, but I wish it had a 4 party system even even if only two of the characters get voices, IIRC the enhanced edition is locked on 2 players.

Having played for a bit, I second that. So many good things about the game and funny little details or dialogues but some things just disappoint me. Especially the inventory management(auto arrange button please!), the plethora of junk items, many merchants not having enough gold to buy your stuff, contents of bags not showing when trading, having to switch characters for trading or other bonuses etc. Lots of pointless micromanagement that could have been prevented.
But then there's things like that

Running with..
Elvin, glass cannon ranger, he shoots pointy things and talks to animals. Compassionate chap but he likes his gear and is not above getting paid.
Scarlett, glass cannon, air/water crowd control mage. She likes to barter, reason/charm her way out of things. Electric personality(esp if you are standing in a puddle) and likes making people wet(origins of said puddle).
Then there's that other air/water mage and the fighter Madora who cuts things to pieces and scowls at all things magic She tanks and hacks her way through enemies while the rest wreak havoc from a safe distance. Between freezing, stunning and launching enemies in the distance there is some sweet crowd control ^^

Man this game is so addictive I am not even done with the first playthrough and I am already thinking of new party combinations ^^ Also love the music, I hear the composer passed away recently I had not heard his music before but man did he leave an impression. Anyways.
The game could have been so much better with a number of simple changes:
- Easier enemy targeting. The models keep shifting about all the time and at times you would normally shoot, the target dodges the click and you move instead
- No more junk items please.
- We need an auto-arrange button and easier item grouping. The game already has a form of those but I mean something more intuitive, with less micromanagement. For instance a pack for ingredients/vials/arrows/books so that they are placed directly in their respective pack instead of cluttering the inventory.
- A way to automatically distribute potions amongst the team instead of checking each inventory separately.
- A button for auto-collecting loot!!!
- More extensive quick bar for spells/abilities. Multiple tabs are nice but your essential abilities should fit in the first bar which is not the case for mages.
- Automatically pick the most qualified character for any given task, whether diplomacy, bartering or whatever. I hate switching all the time.
- Fix the annoying character shuffle when combat begins. They often go to inconvenient places and worse yet they waste action points for that movement.
---
It is surprising how they missed things like these, even the first dungeon siege had avoided them some 13 years back.
