Looks like modding is easy. So new towns easily can be added. Cool!

There are a lot of good things from this modding article, I'm really happy. However, there is something that worries me:
Quote: We will, in the future, provide more in-depth guides on using the editor. We hope that you will also be able to master the tool and bend it in your own way. However, the tool also has some limitations and you won’t be able to break all the “rules of the game” and ultimately it will still be a Heroes game.
Quote: You will not be able to "directly" mod the game files but instead be able to duplicate any existing content, for example towns or heroes.
Does that means we can't try messing with game balance for specific maps?

Great news indeed
So basically we cant interfere with the core game, but we can create these "packages" that can be used while creating maps? So the modding only affects the newly created maps/campaigns they are associated with? Because its "maps-based"...
I wonder if this works with the RMG in any way. What do you modding geniuses think?

Hello there
You will be able in any of your maps to change the balancing the way you want it (change costs, values etc.).
For example, if you want to change the balancing of Academy, you will just have to duplicate Academy and use this Academyv2 in your map with your own preferences (basic ones for balancing, moderate one with alternate townscreen and expert for customised units and more).
You will be able to use this Academyv2 in all your other maps and also share it.
Hope it helps

Haven't we already modded heroes 7?
@Ubi-Nox: Pretty disappointing for not mentioning this

So we can play with the duplicated instead of the original...mmm then yes, I think it does. Kind of.

lol you have modded H7 with some others. I have not I was just wondering if these "easy to mod" packages can be used outside of basic map creation.
Let say i manage to do some little modding. Can i use these mods with RMG?

In Beta I had only access to core game, no map editor, no packages.

Erf... totally my bad here fixed!
Modding will be easier than it was during the beta with global overview of content directly in the editor for instance + you will be able to change values/properties on the go.
Duplicating content allows to reduce data corruption and not force people to use the mods in all their games but since you can integrate them directly on your maps/share them, you can offer your own proper/common HC experience (+ easier multiplayer play since if you play the same maps, you play with the same mods)

RMG is a still to be presented topic, unfortunately I won't be able to answer this question at the moment

The basic concept (top paragraph) seems nice and smart. But i do hope it works with RMG because creating a separate map for your mods is something i dont have time for :/ So it would would be nice to have some "universal fix" via mod packages and then just use RMG to do the dirty work when you feel like playing Also this way doesnt spoil you the maps content :/
At least you are smiling while you answered it (bottom paragraph) so i have my hopes up

I have to admit that it looks very promising!
And Sarah, I think you can design packages that you can add to your maps ... but I agree, for new towns and even new factions, it would be great if you could tell the RMG to use those packages. Ubi-Nox, is that possible?

These are great new for me! I think I'll delve into it immediately, should I buy the game.
This is a great thing, but, I suppose we can add as many towns as we want as heroes and units, but can we automatically disable any vanilla asset if we decide to create overrides?

Hmmm....
If you can "apply" these packages to maps afterwards, i could just run the RMG and save the map. Then apply proper packages to it and play... a bit clumsy way compared to just running the RMG with the packages but anyways...

Quote: If you are really invested (including 3D artists such as some of you at Heroes Community), you will also be able to duplicate creatures and create new neutrals, replace creatures or even create your own faction …. Everything is here.
This might make some people hyped.
Ah, yes, something there, but I couldn't spot, regarding if it's possible editing the skill wheel? It doesn't look clear how far this goes.
