It is probably something stronger than that. I mean the center picture of verriker's signature looks like he is on some sort of LSD trip.

All this is great, it really is and I am actually looking forward to it.
But it doesn't mean, things such as skill system won't be hard-coded does it?

I doubt that to be honest. The current skills nor specializations don't have anything like that(getting more powerful with levels) so I don't think such thing is possible at this point at least. At most they might be able to made to increase with stats, but just my speculation^^

Hi, since you are one of the moderators, may I ask you something about the contents on the official webpage?
I have two laptops, and with my old one I can see the units with their full animation on the official webpage of MMH7.
However on my new laptop, I only see the unit models and I don't see any animation, even if I click "play" button with the right mouse button. Do I need some kind of program installed on the new laptop?
If so, which one?
Thank you

Your browser may not support embedded graphics since I have a hunch they use HTML5 to display the animations as part of the webpage.
Other than that, it might have to do with the flash plugin or outdated HTML support if your device automatically views the content as flash.
Try reinstalling your browser, installing a new one, clearing cache and older settings.

Maybe I'm just slow, but I'm really confused about what's possible and what's not possible with modding. The article talks about modding texturs, but will we be able to make general mods that affect actual game content - and not just tied to one specific map, but a mod you activate and then it works for all standard games (not scenarios), like you can in a game like Civilization 5 for instance? What I mean is, if I want to change skill system to have only 4 magic schools like you mention, can I make such a mod independantly of a map, or can I only do this tied to a specific map (and then possibly import it into any new map I make subsequently)? Or will I be able to make this magic school overhaul as a general mod I activate independantly of what map I'm playing?

Quote: Before we dive right in to our examples I would like to make something clear about the modding in MMH7. You will not be able to "directly" mod the game files but instead be able to duplicate any existing content, for example towns or heroes. From here you will be able to edit them however you see fit.
By doing so, you will be able to create new “packages” containing your modifications or newly created content. MMH7 Modding is “map-based” meaning that if you create a map using a specific package or modifying specific files, those modifications will be directly available in the map itself so people won’t have to download additional elements.
This would also prevent data corruption for the game itself since it won’t interfere with “vanilla” content (for instance, official Campaigns will not be altered by the modding). Every map will be able to have its own set of content and specific tweaking, nothing too taxing but just something to consider :)

Well that was also what confused me, because that seems to contradict UbiNox's message above that it's possible to modify the skill system into having only 4 magic schools. But if the point is that such a mod would still be tied to a map, thats probably the final nail in the coffin for me with regards to this game.

Oh, I doubt it would stay like that. There are some modding geniuses that don't take much kindly on making the same mod on so many maps. I am certain there will be a way to generalize the mods, someway. Of course, not right away and maybe some things cannot be modded easily, but given enough time, it is possible.
I am, curious, what can't be modded. They speak much about content, but what about some mechanics? Not skill wheel ones, but say, size of the map, making full 3D townscreens or even expand the resource types (including sulfur, mercury and stuff like that)? Heck, can even the general look of the game be changed? (About the last part, it is meant to add seasons, weather and that magical terrain types from H3.)

it would be moronic not to just have both options available, be able to either apply the override to a map or the whole game lol

People, the answer seems to be quite clear. This make believe modding kit is in fact the advanced map editor which uses Unreal 3. You are not modding the game, you're editing a map. That's why I expressed my concerns with regards to core features which will probably not be available for change through this function. You will be able to create a custom skill set for a hero, but you will probably not be able to, say, extend it beyond the limitation of 10 skills, or change prerequisite mechanics. You will be able to create custom towns with custom town planning, but you will probably not be able to remove levels or change who knows what internal limitations. You will be able to change a hero or creature portrait, but you'll probably be unable to make any significant interface changes. That's how things appear to be.

I don't think it's really that big of a deal in the end. To me it sounds like it's pretty much like changing team settings in h5. Open map editor and choose import master data X to have your settings and save the map. You only need to do it once really as I understood for each map. For map makers, they may even do that for you before sharing the map so new maps might not even require anything extra from players(unless they are made with the original systems in mind). Ultimately IMO it just comes down to how flexible the editor truly is in terms of actually editing/changing the skills/abilities/specialities and such. It doesn't sound like mod that much in the general sense, but it essentially does the same. Hopefully ultimately in the end we will be able to use more classic type of "mods" that are active always(or when we choose to activate them rather than being map specific).
PS thanks Ubi-Nox for answering my questions earlier

Yes, it is.
I have just realized one weird thing though.
I can't see any animation on the internext explorer, but when I use google chrome, I see the animation..so I guess the problem is solved.
Thanks
