Itīs clearly sad to be in this sad game. Probably regrets not signing up for the next "Happy feet"-movie instead.

After I read the last posts I got curious and did three tests:
- Time elapsed from click on Uplay in desktop until I get into a playable screen (new game, all configurations default): 1 minute and 10 seconds (bypassing the advertisements and the trailer, of course).
- Time to load a saved game with about 5 months game time: 9 seconds
- Time between turns in the loaded game: 24 seconds (2 AI players)
I have a 3 years old CPU (i5 4440) and an much older GPU (GTX460).
The game is installed on a SSD, maybe it's helping to speed up.
I guess I'm lucky as cleglaw
My PC is older than that (5 yrs) and it's a laptop, so no upgrading hardware. It's still crap that it goes so slow.
Didn't try last patch though, and what does it mean to install it on SSD? What even is SSD?

Solid-state drive, it's probably the next step in hard drives (storage device) technology. To put it simply it's a lot faster then another standard - HDD (hard disk drives).

As others above indicated, a SSD is a Solid-State Drive. In essence, it contains a bunch of memory chips which maintain their information even after being powered down. You could say they're a huge USB stick but then inside your PC . Truth be said, though, it also contains some intelligence in how to read and write to the various locations and how to clean up unused space (at least the later models do).
Since it doesn't contain any moving elements - as opposed to traditional harddisks, which have a spindle of magnetic disks inside, which are rotated around by a motor at very high speeds (7200 rounds per minute is fairly common) - it is very low on noise production, as well as much faster. With a moving spindle, you have an arm and a sensor which needs to be positioned in the proper place before you can read or write at the specified location. A SSD disk doesn't need to do that, as everything is stored inside memory chips and therefore reading and writing is way faster.
SSD disk capacity is still somewhat behind that of traditional harddisk and price is higher too, but the gap is getting smaller as time passes.

SDDs are faster but it doesn't mean HDDs are slow, I have both, there is a difference, but it doesn't make old disks look like is taking ages, you could also have some viruses slowing your system if you run Winspy but h7 being just unplayable is not to a possibility to reject.

You can quicken it massively, but the increase in speed comes with the price of making it a lot uglier. If you really want to play this piece of broken code, you should have a good look at the options menu and find your most acceptable compromise between speed and good looks, good looks being something quite debatable anyway, even when the game runs like a snail on valium.

Also block the game's access to the internet via firewall. There is a thread on steam(performance) with instructions.
And as the time passes, without knowing anything about codes, i too can see how bad the code is! I fired up heroes 6 and it looked a zillion times better!!! It s sad. And scary.Even heroes 5 looks better(besides the art style) This speaks volumes about the devs' experinece.

I still did not buy this game, I was waiting for it to become somehow bug free and playable
Can someone please describe the state of the game after the new expansion and all the patches? (is their so many bugs? the AI is still very stupid?.... in other words is it worth buying or still need to wait for future patches?)

Wait for at least one more patch. Creatures can disappear from tactics phase, warmachines and/or runes are randomly deselected for combat, game occasionally crashes during combat(once every few hours for me), some scripts do not work or require a number of reloads to trigger(may cause you to replay a whole mission and it might still not work) and some players even lose skills when reloading a game with random skills. AI is probably better than before but still bad. At this rate I doubt it will get much better.
Oh yes, sometimes the AI gets scared of your units and may move a tile sideways instead of try to engage - even if they are shooters and it has every incentive to block! The AI's archers may also wait instead of shoot, even when it makes no sense to do so. Guess the AI is overindunging because it could not wait until 1.8

Creamy and still smells.
You should steer clear from it for a while yet, as you can see from reports here and there. Of course, you could be lucky (or hexed, depending on the point of view) having the game work rather smoothly. But notice that this is not a common thing.
