Agreed, but they DO one. May be not care but heroes 7 exist.
But will a heroes 8 ever exist? I do not know and considering the sales, who seem to be bad, as some of you said, I doubt it.

Well, may be it is just a matter of "better a final with horror instead a horror without final".

I came here to say something positive.

I decided to give Heroes7 a try. So I played the whole Might and Magic: Heroes 7 soundtrack through youtube. I can't remember any of it. And it played Heroes4 soundtrack when it finished!!

Always look at the bright side of life. The best feature of Heroes7 may be that it sometimes leads people to discover earlier installments.

Actually, though far from their former greatness, H7 soundtrack might very well be the best part of the game. There are a few great themes there that reminds me the former glory of Paul and Rob compositions.

Surprising, which ones? Because in my opinion Heroes 7's themes lack power and personality and sometimes don't even fit. For example Stronghold's theme is hilarious for a brutish faction.

You're are completely right, it is a mess when it comes to picking a faction for them. However, Haven theme (which for me will be always be better suited for an elven faction) and the Necropolis theme (much better suited for Haven IMO) are superb. I find the Stronghold theme really good as well, but yes, it is quite ridiculous in that faction.

Agreed. There are some very good tracks in this installment. The Academy theme especially gives me strong H4 vibes (which was musically my favorite).

I must disagree with you a bit Stevie. They tend to over-show Orcs as a brutish faction in Ashan, but there can be quite a spiritual side to them. I've really liked the H6 Strongholds theme. I know Warcrafts lore is not a fan-favorite here from the obvious reasons, but look at the Tauren for instance. Proud warriors, but with a serene side to them. Take this for instance.

H7 Stronghold theme is not a strong one, but I think Paul wanted to refer to H2 theme maybe?

But why does music even matters when the game is unplayable...

I agree with blob. H1 and h2 (expansion) barbarian themes are amongst my favorites, and I wouldn't call them brutal.

The most annoying music in h7 imo are the tracks from h6, cause I'm sick of hearing them, and their song that plays when it's the enemies turn. It's like trying to be silly or smthing ... the rest are good, if not great.

They went for the desert orc theme (Sahaar Orcs) and the end result turned out quite good in my opinion. If you played Duel of Champions (an amazing but poorly managed game), you would probably recognize that (almost) all units are based on concept art from that game.
H6, on the other hand, featured Pao Islands orcs - with colorful feathers and a "jungle" theme, while H5 had Ranaar (steppe) orcs.

IIRC Paul and Rob don't care about Erwin's lore, they completely ignore such trivia and just make whatever music they think would be a good spin on an elven faction or Japanese themed faction etc whatever the high level idea is lol

LOL. Your hate has transcended to levels that defy human logic.
The composers, like all artists that work on a a game, always get briefed about the theme and the lore before they start working on a project.

By the way there's nothing wrong with Ashan as a setting or its lore. Whether you like it or not, they have put a lot of effort in it and it feels more fleshed out than the old universe(s). Let's please not confuse your issues with the actual games with a theme that's perfectly fine.

Certain H7 town themes are musical masterpieces and fit perfectly to the lore (not always, but in general they do). And this applies to most heroes titles, not only H7. Bless Rob & Paul for being around and staying devoted.

If you think logic will get you to the facts of Heroes 7's production, think again mate. Because Verriker is absolutely right and you're obviously not informed. And just for the record, the guy is a chronicle of knowledge and he often times has the back-up references ready and waiting, so you couldn't have chosen a worst opponent to challenge in that regard.

I'm sure they were. Still don't see how they conformed to that with ie the brutal wolf haven and desert orcs.

chill down mate, no need for a personal matter, however please don't teach grandmother to suck eggs on the working of Team Erwin cheers lol

if you were following the development you would know they were indeed briefed in great depth on Heroes 6 by Julien Marzhin, but basically chose to ignore all the nitty gritty Erwin details and simply put their own spin on the barebones general theme, like Human faction, Orc faction or Japanese faction, as stated lol

they also got quite pissed off when Team Erwin in an OCD manner secretly hired other composers to correct their "errors",
thus for Heroes 7 Marzhin basically relaxed his prescriptive guidelines and lore bibles and and allowed them do their own thing without protest, they just make their music with high creative control and very little meddling of Erwin, paying no attention to whether it fits Ashan lore or facts lol

you may or may not also know Paul has never played the Heroes games and that neither of them know anything about Erwin's lore or world (bear in mind Rob's post where he assumed that the Elves come from Brooklyn and migrated to Europe) lol

I don't know which weird versions of the H2 town themes are spread in youtube these days (unfortunately there seems to be one configuration for every version and repackaging that was released) but that was definitely the Necropolis town theme not the barbarian one when I played the game (which is much more fitting though I don't think Paul andn Rob gave a fuch about making fitting music at all at that time, just about creating some awesome incredibly good music, that in the end you can just swap around and they would still magically work... unlike nowadays snowing heavily lore based music).

SoilBurn said:

Well you might be missinformed in this case, as it was publicly discussed (and privately in VIP forums) that in H7 Paul and Rob had completely freedom for their compositions, to a level they didn't ever had in a previous Ubi Heroes games. So probably the briefing was like "we need x number of tracks, x for towns for these factions, period". Otherwise I don't think you ever had got that elven theme at all. This was all into the marketing move from Ubi of they getting back to the roots of the saga, getting the best of them all and so on.

SoilBurn said:

Well I'd say that music under Ubi Heroes has got to the lowest point in the saga, as with the rest of the things, though there are certainly some incredible good tracks here and there (precisely that's why I was so positively shocked by the great quality of a couple of tracks of H7 when I initially heard them in pre pre pre production).

The participation from Paul and Rob is getting low though. In H7 is just town themes and a couple extra tracks if I'm not wrong, and in H6 it was even less (and even some of their compositions were reworked, for the worst I think, by other musicians). Only in H5 they produced the full soundtrack, with quite a mediocre result IMO if we compare to the four first games.

So yes, bless Paul and Rob, and I will be eternally thankful for their great compositions in Heroes and in M&M (god M&M7 is one of their best works if not the best), but I don't think they're keeping the quality (which would be quite difficult anyway) from the classic games.  Not surprisingly they've said multiple times that they are not so interested in creating fantasy music anymore, which it seems to show.
