Doubt there can be much done about the AI. You could try your luck with multiplayer. If it works, that is.

Secondly ever seen AI using lvl 4 spells in the combat or maybe once or two.
It wont even pick up artifacts or loot the dragon utopias etc.
Expert AI as ubi advertised it.. That doesn't sound much different than my impressions a few patches back. It was supposed to be immensely improved since, according to ubi.

Well, AI is not that challenging, it is as it is, best u can do is playing hotseat against ureself if u want a decent challenge, be Aware Balance isnt the best either though! but could be worse, multiplayer was never stable for me so i woudnt recommend that either, there are some maps with premade hereos which already own big armies and spells, These are "decent" in Terms of difficulty, dont exspect much of skirmish maps, the best u can do here is Setting everything heroic difficulty and set a might hero for AI because mages will be weak as snow as they learn no spells, the longer the game takes the better, the AI will attack u with its hero and u'll have a decent fight, maybe, if u attack the AI first because low Overall difficulty u'll have it very easy

Also if you want increase challenge put custom teams all against you and select same factions for the AI.
I don't really mind to set start resources to low, coz it just makes game longer and the first weeks are boring as hell.
Heroic should be more like a impossible. Just wondering - it cannot be hard to code AI cheating more or something like that.. ?
In the end I still enjoy play this game. I almost totally skipped HOMM6 and IMO HOMM5 was the best one but decade was enough for me =)

if u want cheating AI u can always Team the AI agsinst u, it is the same, really, the AI is not too bad if u dont rush the AI, if u rush it it is totally helpless as it will not defend anything, it can only attack ure heroes and ure castles

I've been replaying the HOMM series lately and finally reached this game.
The battles themselves are so boring in here. As hated and butchered as H6 turned out to be at least it had that one thing going for it and you could do some really nasty combos like inferno's taunt dude and using the ability that restricted for opponent to attack higher tier creatures, also Kirins mist trail etc.
Guess the heroes ended with 5 after all.

just a quick uptade on AI: AI can use diplomacy, set governours and sometimes it even defends its Castle, maybe AI got a few last changes when limbic left idk, it wont do it always but it can happen

HD mod. Also H3 is a 1998 game, H7 came in 2016. I would be the last person to complain about the graphics but they messed up in H7 as some parts are outright ugly and/or tasteless. H6 could never be called ugly by any measure just like H3 could never be called tasteless.

1999 actually
H7's graphics is not bad (eventually) but it isn't breakthrough like H3's was in its days.

Yeah...well...who has state-of-the-art DX12 graphics cards these days, anyway?
That is the main problem on my end. My graphics card barely supports DX12 and, prefers anything else that runs on DX9 thru DX11.
Therefore, my latest game of Master of Orion is running on DX11 and the graphics quality is totally awesome but, with the GPU running on max. So, the low quality card and GPU really slows the whole gameplay experience to a crawl. That is the same, exact case as for both H6 and, H7(especially this one).
No enthusiast's level of extremely performant PC, equals a really bad game experience(2 to 3 thousands of $ worth of a machine).

Heh I dont think so also... MaM universe is a dead meat for Ubi... but... if we live in Matrix, then...
