Storm-Giant said: After this second blatant round of cheating, I believe hiding the votes would be the best for future polls.
I am not sure if that's going to stop the cheating (besides other countermeasures they're implementing). It only leaves cheaters in the dark. That may be discouraging for some so they won't cheat but it may inspire others to keep pumping. Oh well, I guess that latter group is more easily filtered from the polls.
Effectively, hiding the tally until the end isn't too different from what we have now, since those numbers shown are unreliable, tainted with all the multi-votes.
It's good to hear that they're working on it though.
Overall I must say I am impressed with the way they're involving us with this next installment, if you compare it to the previous ones. And impressed in a very positive way; after the fiasco of Heroes 6, I was sceptical, but I'm heating up to the next title for sure .

Yeah but those townscreens are outdaded in concept, since they showed the Fort/Citadel/Castle as a separate building instead of as the actual fortification of the city. So we are bound to get "zoomed in" pictures now...

Just a random thought which I hope will be seen by "Ubi people" (Marzhin? Kimmundi?): Most of us will agree that voting as an idea is awesome/great/perfect. That's a fact. I wonder is there any chance for some fan contest, preferably, for heroes that could appear in the actual game. Creating our own heroes (name, biography, maybe specialization and some rough artwork sketch) would occupy fans for a long time and make them feel even more... useful. I bet many of us dream/or maybe just would like to see THEIR hero in the game.

Didn't H6 have a custom hero option? Yeah, it was mainly tied to the whole Blood/Tears mechanic, but having the ability to choose a class, portrait, and custom name appeals to me.

I've been thinking about taking it step further, Kimarous. A contest for "new" heroes in which we could participate would be really interesting.
I've completely forget about H6's customization option and now I realized there's something besides graphic style and music that I like in this game .

However the lineup vote goes, i hope that we see a medusa hero in the hero roster, maybe as a reference to he half-medusa character in H4.
Anyway i hope there is still a way of making your own hero. Despite it's flaws it was one of the nicest bits of the game.
I think there was a dev comment at some point that we will get 3 variants of both the might and magic heroes, being blood, tears and neutral themed, but without the reputation system. If its so then its pretty nice, that+hero specialities could make heroes a lot more varied.

It's fine for me. Occasionally it won't load, but refreshing always fixes it.

Since when was a castle the fortification of a city?

Back in the day, maybe. Have you not seen the improved town screens in H6? The fortification upgrades are... well, fortifications. Case in point with Sanctuary:
Basic:
Advanced:
Superior:
And here's a video that shows the difference.

Nah, only town in H5 that looked like it had fortifications was Castle; the castle itself was separate from the rest of the fortifications.
Don't remember the walls being as obtrusive as they were in H6 either.

Haven surely had the most walls, but all towns had the fortifications at the town entrance instead of on some hill overlooking the town (as in 3 and 4). Besides, also Fortress and Stronghold had their town completely walled-in upon building fort.

To be fair, historical castles tended to loom over surrounding villages and didn't surround them for defence - if those filthy peasants wanted protection, they'd have to come HERE.

But larger towns were protected by city walls and in Heroes we have towns, not castles (at least in Ashan).

True, but the associations being made were to the H3 and H4 towns. Let's face it, while Ashan has proper towns, anything up to H4 was a hamlet at best.

More like lord caslte with village/town build near it.
While HoMM1-2 castles were IMO well built (town placed around/near fortificated castle), HoMM3 and HoMM4 towns were IMO built without taking any defense factor. See Stronghold from H3 - you can easly put siege engines above castle itself and bombard it from above.

I believe surrounding forts were much more common unless the city was real special-like. Granted I'm no historian.
Of course, this is high fantasy were things don't have to make sense. Also demons.

Academy didn't have a town entrance, rather a main gate.
The platforms with those boxes (which I think houses commoners) doesn't even have safety railings. I'm guessing magic?
Dungeon also doesn't have a clear town entrance.
The Inferno castle is the town.
Necropolis is just a bunch of spires.
Sylvan has a moat.
