Actualy ... the curve and "weight" on his arm isn't that big of a deal. There are other things tho, that don't make much snese if you would be talking of realisticaly going to battle dressed like this:
- Weights on his arms are supposed to be armor, and armor has been used historicaly a lot, indeed if made correctly it could cover whole arm and not be much of a liability when swinging .... however :
- It dose not cover whole arm. Which means it's more or less useless. It would be better to remove it alltogether, or cover full arms, or indeed just lower part of arm, till the elbow, fully.
- Sword ... is a bit too bulky. why does it have a bump.... oh I get it it's supposed to be kopesh ... but it's not. Kopesh was heavy for it's size, yet was a lot smaller. Still it's not terrible by any means. I would say it's fine ... BUT ... he has 2 why? Isn't that dagger enough, to be more versatile in defence and close quarter combat? Or ... a shield. Would be usefull with lack of armor ... what about arrow protection?
- Yes, show off that abbs to the ladys, I'm sure in middle of battle noone would think to stab you directly there
- Why is guard of his sword facing towards his hand? Is that why he's wearing gloves? so his hand is safe from his own handle? Look at it in the arm he's holding sword, that spike is milimeters from his hand. Slight curve in guard for decoration is OK, but i wouldn't wanna wield this for prolonged periods of time.
- He's supposed to be Hero, or indeed a general of mighty army ... he must issue orders constantly ... this is why he has a cloth over his mouth. It's so that enemy might not hear what he's saying Oh what? I'm wrong? well maybe it's because of face protection ... you know from arrows. Or maybe he's ugly and hiding his face. (yeah yeah, I know it's for sand and what not ... but still, would be nice if it would be made out of chain-mail, so it has some arrow protection wouldn't it?)
- He's loaded. I mean this guy must be seriously rich. His entire armor is made of silk and gold. Even his 2 swords have golden hilts and golden inlays. I bet owning one such sword would make you quite wealthy. Yet he's carrying these in battle like they are common worthelss things. Not to mention gold is quite soft metal, not suitable for armor at all. I know. It's for strategy. If he is killed then all enemies would start fightin amongst themselves who would loot his corpse.
But still - I horenstly like this artwork. I'ts more of a joke post. Anyway ...

...Sheriff - The word comes from Arabic sharif meaning "noble", from sharafa meaning "to be highborn". So... If you rename the last to "Sherif" or "Sharif" it would be much more better IMHO.
Um... apparently not...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharif
Quote: Sharīf Asharif or Alsharif (Arabic: شريف‎ šarīf) or Chérif (Darija: Chorfa) is a traditional Arab title in origin, the word is an adjective meaning "noble", "highborn". The feminine singular is sharifa(h) (Arabic: شريفة‎ šarīfah). The masculine plural is Ashraf (Arabic: اشراف‎ ʾašrāf).
The word has no etymological connection with the English term sheriff, which comes from the Old English word scīrgerefa, meaning "shire-reeve", the local reeve (enforcement agent) of the king in the shire (county).[1]
Personally, I'm with those who think the "Sheriff" should be renamed "Sharif."
That said, artwork is nice.
EDIT: Man, I adjust to things quickly. I'm apparently already over the "...wat?" factor of Sheriff and have already started to accept it.

firstly it's gold which is useless as armour, secondly, being a metal it will get very hot under the desert sun as well as being very heavy. Leather or cloth is better in a desert environment.

When it comes to desert combat being able to withstand the heat will get you further than straight up protection. big or heavy shields would heat up and be too bulky to effectively use in extreme heat. leather or small shields on the other hand...
besides, arabians with two swords are pretty classic and it does look cool
Zombi_Wizzard said: - Yes, show off that abbs to the ladys, I'm sure in middle of battle noone would think to stab you directly there
as previously stated he IS part of a desert faction so armour isn't the brightest idea. it's also nice seeing the male be more eye-candy than the female so i'm perfectly fine with it even if it makes little sense.

sand protection mate. probably removes it for orders and such, but it looks cool so what the heck.

First post here! I have been following this thread since I found out about Heroes 7. Long time fan here, since Heroes 1. My blog name is SlumbrousShip5.
For anyone interested I will go over a few likes/dislikes I have about the game.
The good:
-Factions
Haven looks excellent. It is like an updated version of Heroes 2 and 3 with its serious look. It has a nice charm to it and I really look forward to enjoying a Ubisoft Haven for once. Academy also looks very nice, especially the titans. I really hated academy in h5 simply because I did not want to look at those gargoyles, djinns, and titans, they just looked so bad, so I am excited for their return. Regarding necro, visuals aside, I will put them in the 'good' section because I do not mind the spider as a core unit and I like the lamasu. I also think the grim rider is a cool idea along with the option of the classic bone dragon. Dungeon is decent and I have high hopes for stronghold.
-Gameplay
Even though not a whole lot is revealed, its looking good so far. Back to the core four stats is a good thing. Necro sounds like they will feel like playing necro this time (even if they don't look the part) and I am glad to hear it will not be ability overload this time. I wish there were less spell schools but I would rather have too many than too few.
The bad:
-Factions
For me, slyvan is greatest downfall of this game. They were my favorite in h1-h4 and now I wish they were not in the game at all. I am not looking forward to a pixie and its h5 alt upgrade being slpit into two seperate units, making the core tier two faries and an elf. I really dislike shirtless elves with swords being promoted to an Elite just as I dislike the constant promotions given to the treant (also Pit-lord and centaur for that matter) throughout the games. And the deer....Its choices like these that make me wish Ubisoft did not have the game rights.
On a side note, I hate that they bring back academy, and just copy paste the same line up that faction has always had. Then they bring back slyvan, and completely change almost everything about it. They didn't even give us a chance to vote for a classic line up.
-Gameplay
I am very concerned with the lack of fliers in this game. My worst fear is that the factions are all going to have similar line ups like in h6 (and h5 imo) and the same basic strategy will work for all of them. So far Haven, Sylvan, and Dungeon are way to similar, all sharing the same basic unit types. I reject the idea of all the factions sharing any kind of unit. And in this case the shared unit is Elite shooters. Every faction has one and only one faction left to be revealed....and we all know how 'fond' Ubisoft is with their centaurs. Faction diversity should be a priority for the devs. But it may already be to late. Now I just hope that stronghold will fill the 'best elite = flier' spot as well keep elite shooters out of the line up.
With the 3 tier system I honestly thought they would take a better approach this time around. Three types of units, three tiers, six factions. One faction heavy on shooters, one faction heavy on fliers, one faction heavy on walkers. The other three factions would be more balanced.
Well that's my two cents on the game thus far. Thanks for reading.

I wish they would stop giving every model can opener swords. Is it too much to ask for a simple sabre or a normal kopesh?
Next thing we know Sylvan heroes are gong to have lances that are spirals and Stronghold ones have axes with giant shuriken heads.
I kind of dread what kind of weapons dungeon heroes are going to have... Probably something like chakrams with swiss army knives and chainsaws on them and that is probably just going to be the guard.
Better not give Ubi any more ideas though.

While I preferred Balance...I was not too fond of any of the given line ups. The whole slyvan vote felt rushed imo.

I think the designs look awesome, though I wonder which of the three classes revealed they represent (I assume alchemist, but that's a guess)?
The way they set up the heroes is interesting: Offence, Defence and Economist. And I do wonder what Metamagic is?

Metamagic - The wizards mastery of magic allows them to trigger synergies between spells to unleash even more power and destruction on the battlefield.

It felt weird at first but i actually like Sheriff as a Academy hero, sot of a combination or the Medieval Sheriff and the wild west one. Especially since Seven Cities/Silver leagues lands are mostly deserts and wastelands.
Shariff would be a bad name, because most people wpuld be starting to read it as Sheriff and changing it now would just feel as a nad attempt to fic the name.
