Woah, there is like 100 pages more in this thread than last time I checked it out. Either we have some talkative people in here and/or I'm just getting too old and visiting too rarely. Here are my latest 2 cents.
I liked that extra H2/H3 track on the blog. I think it fits well with the reminder of the soundtrack.
Anyhow, it seems to me that in these past few months, similar worries/grudges (personal) have stayed active with regards to H7 development. (probably posted most of these in the past year but here is the recap)
- non random skill system - I'm having hard time seeing it working with the resources limbic has available. it will probably settle not far from dreadful H6 model.
- multitude of hero classes that sound good on paper but do not really bring much to the table (it is on first sight a clever transfer of hero uniqueness to the class, and I feel it will share the cherry-picking destiny of H6 skills). I feel that once again this simply brings balance issues and many of these will end up being unused. This one is probably just my worry, but I just have this bad feeling this one won't work out. After the skill debacle in H6 (called it an issue early in H6 development but it was a minority opinion even on these boards back in the day), I tend to trust my gut more
- overcomplicating battles / putting too much thought into tactics and slowing down gameplay. I feel this has been an ongoing issue in the series, and while news of faster paced combat compared to H6 are welcome, it might still be too slow. Heck, i believe this game would actually benefit if healing was non existant, to reduce the ammount of micromanagement people do in already won battles to minimize losses.
- town screens. While the art itself is "ok", most of them lack life/charisma - althrough this is a minor issue in the grand scheme. If this was the only issue, I would be happy camper
Biggest worry is that team is creating too many unnecessary challenges and potential pitfalls, which would be less of an issue if Ubisoft didn't have bad track record of leaving things unfinished/unpolished once the game is out.
On the positive sides, if game ships with good map editor, that alone has potential of negating more than one of the minuses above.
Now with all that said, development team has my full support , and hopefully proves me wrong on at least several of these cases.

Yes it is Paul's Soundcloud account. He originally called the track "Mystery Theme from HoMM 3" when he uploaded it there then changed it when someone told him it could be heard in H2, but neither him nor Rob actually remember where the track truly comes from.

IIRC they never played any HoMM game, so no wonder.

The only thing Rob remembers is the fact it was a town theme. Which is why I wonder if it could have been made for the Forge, as all other town themes are accounted for

It's more fitting to HoMM2 soundtrack and to desert then to HoMM3, not to mention mechanical town.

We're talking about the guys who associate baroque chamber music with a Barbarian town, so I'd say anything's possible

Like themes in Heroes 7, when Elves' theme is more fitting for Wizards and Wizards' is more fitting for Elves?
But over all this "mystery theme" is very close to other Heroes 2 themes then to Heroes 3 ones.

I first need to hear them in game (with better town screens ) to give final verdict. So far I am not impressed with town themes - some of their parts are great but others not and overall... they just doesn't sound right to me. But as I said - I need to hear them in game.

Luckily, Marzhin clarified that I wasn't getting crazy. Heard that song many times, even memorized it. As soon as the guy starts with this "Ahahaaahhhhh..." the rest played automatically in my mind.
I just wasn't sure where I listened to that tune. I like it.

From my part, I don't agree. Matter of point of view. ^^ Up till now, no songs feel like they are in their right place. Might do just like Avonu: wait to see it in game. However, I'm not likely to buy it either way.

You just did.
Tell the truth, Galaa: is it true what the rumors say? That we'll have 20 completely unique factions with very unique and unbalanced gameplay? 3 Different options for Necropolis?

it obviously isn't a Heroes 3 track either as they speculate, because none of H3's music had vocals
I guess Rob and Paul may not be the only officials who didn't play the games hue hue hue

I suspect we'll get lots of alternate Havens - each for a duchy. After all Wolfs, Landsknechts and Justicars are unmistakably Wolf Duchy units and during Ivan's campaign, we're certain to play as the Griffin Duchy.
Not only that, as far as I know Griffins are confirmed as part of Ivan's army and the dissonance between Abbot's artwork and model seem to support my theory.
