So fun to see u, guys struggle to prove that H7 is any good lol
I hadnt even to dig into the details to explain why AAA game shouldn't look like ftp browser one haha. And no, I didn't put it into the "sux" section just because it is worse than H5 (but it is worse). I put it there because there's a lack of clue in every aspect of the gamedesign (spiderlegs, guys, LEGS). And I count its as natural thing: to compare an old stuff with the new one. Imagine Half-Life 2 looked worse than HL1 (btw the gap between HL and HL2 was less than 6 years and the gap between heroes 5 and heroes 7 is more than 9 years). xD
P.S. I see no problems with crappy visuals at all, I could play with it if the mechanics would be good (but it won't be). But I see no sense to deny that the visuals are childish. Show the TS to any 2d-3d artist you know and ask his opinion.

A thing that looks worse from itself? That's quite a philosophical puzzle there!

EDIT: But let me sum this up even more: It's Heroes 7, therefore it sucks
I can see what you are getting at here, and there's even an element of truth in this - obviously, it will never be possible to please everybody, and I do agree that the Heroes fanbase is more than averagely divergent in what we want - but still, your critique is not entirely true either. There are some very objective points that can be said about the H7 townscreen that has nothing to do with taste, and one of them is that it's impossible to make out individual buildings, much less figure out which ones do what.
Comparing H2 Castle and H7 Haven towns makes sense because the environment of these two are very similar (medieval style town in mountain setting. Comparing the two, it's extremely obvious that in the H2 version, you can very clearly distinguish each individual building, and many of them send a clear message about what their function is (jousting grounds, archery range, cathedral, layered mage guild, etc.). Looking at the H7 equivalent, however, this element is completely gone. It's literally impossible to figure out where each building stops and the next begins, and from most of the buildings, I haven't got a single clue about what their function is - I honestly can't even figure out which building is the mage guild when I look at it, much less what building belongs to what creature. I'm sorry, but that IS a problem!
Now I could accept this, if they had instead gone wholesale for the visual impact - that was pretty much the case in H5, while buildings generally stood out, it was hard to locate them, specifically because of the 3D feature making some of them be on the backside. But when they go back to 2D, that's no longer acceptable.

Indeed but in H5 there was a convenient hire function and access to all the buildings through the interface. So 3d visuals were only just for visuals up to me.

What makes you think H7 won't have the same kind of convenient hire function?

1. Sorry, h7 have some "WOW visuals" for the same excuse?
2. It's 2d town. It's a whole different thing. In heroes 5 there was a rotating camera flying around the city, showing the epicness so there was no proper tool to make this in a convenient way. 2d gives all tools to implement this feature in a good way since all the town is on the screen.

you know, a picture doesn't really prove your point. Ashan necro is not scary due to the lore, not visualls. besides, with a talentfull enough artist anything can seem scary. That pic is not even very scary. Is just some of those hounds from twilight princess. They're not even doing anything

Alright, then what's so wrong with the lore? As far as I'm concerned they are emotionless members of a creepying sect that, once exiled by the wizards, started gathering undead armies and planning their revenge. Pretty much what you'd expect from Necropolis.

Thank you for taking the time to point out this flaw. I was having toruble understanding the criticism until your post. Now that I understand that, I agree with you about this aspect of the Haven town screen.

Sorry mate, just sounds like you're reaching for any kind of criticism you can muster. It's pretty much understood, and rightfully so in my opinion, that extravagant TSs are not worth the cost and effort for something that most ignore fairly early on in gameplay. Prior to H5, town screens were pretty basic affairs. The H5 TS to me was a neat visual but not really helpful by virtue of 3D perspective. You seem easily moved by worthless eye candy.

An argument? I must've missed it. Because all I saw was a trully ignorant rhetoric. The kind where it ignores that Necropolis is about delusional, spider worshiping, eternally young and beautiful vampire buddhists, for starters.

You're talking as if it's so surprising for necromancers to worship a symbol of death.
Eternally young? That's just vampires, which are about the only kind of undead for which it would be actually strange not to have eternal youth.
