Well, i would like the faceless to be able to cast a random dark magic spell on the enemy (like agony or weakness, even if an altered or scaled down version of it).
As for the black dragon, maybe he is siphoning the magic essence out of the units it kills and that translates as life? or Maybe it is so ferocious that it actually eats and not kills the enemies thus regaining health?

Your "leaks" of war-machines and some of the abilities just made me wanna cry
Why on earth does black dragon have life-drain...? Hydra was supposed to have it, now they gave it to both!?!?! Always nice to see things copied and recycled around. Welcome to Recycles of Might and Magic 7!

Nope, both base and upgraded units don't have Life Drain. Limbic might change some things though.

Oh, yes, no more black dragons, more like vampire dragons.
Besides, it was expected of them to have debuff effect and to fly. Nothing else, nothing more. What was written should stay. What wasn't... just isn't.
Besides, if we go by that logic, then dryads can also be constructs, blade dancers can have demonic lineage or pixies can just have jousting effect because it was never mentioned and who cares about logic?
On the other hand, since Ubi cares so much about lore, how would they explain black dragons suddenly have life draining abilities?

You pointed there wasn't Wizard class in HoMM1. That's right but we had Warlocks, so if Yog would to be spellcaster, then this class would be OK for him.
And he wasn't failed spellcaster - IIRC in his first map he was pretty good. He felt that this path wasn't for him.

she is also unfamiliar with Crag Hack, who is unfamiliar with Yog, who are both also unfamiliar with Sandro, I doubt all of these heroes met on speaking terms in the middle of a war lol
Thanks, I really didn't remember that. So Yog from H1 is the same person as from H3 and 4.
However it's funny how Gem remember Yog from HoMM1 (as he wasn't present in Heroes 2), but she can't remember Crag Hack or her teacher name (Lamanda) or think that a guy named Sandro is a nice Wizard from Bracada.
SoD campaign is really messed up sometimes.

TBH, I have nothing against Life-draining Black Dragons. As long as they have Immunity to Magic (they do?), I do not care about other abilities. For sure I won't miss it but also I wouldn't oppose it in any way. Besides that - I have predicted Dungeon Warfare Units correctly! Hurray!

You can find immunity to magic on picture.

One thing I do hope remains, is the Treant being a shooter. It suddenly makes it useful compared to the dragon and it's 175%(even more if you're nature-lucking a creature) damage
