About inferno, H5 and specially Dark Messiah made me like inferno a lot more, I guess.
Edit: H6 inferno with Dark Messiah music was pure win. 
Yeah dark messiah really made me like inferno, plus I am quite interested in what gets Xana to side with kha-beleth so to speak. Plus quite interested in Kha-beleth's rise to power he does something completely against chaos turns inferno into a nation an army.
Well he IS a tears hero so its not surprising I mean inferno is all about freedom of action and choice so he is free to do it if he has the power to back it up.

nope, i wasnt saying anything bad i was just stating the fact that h3 is universally much better than h1 and h2... Gamerankings gives 88% for H3 and 76% for h2 and 63 for h1... And can you honestly tell me you prefered h2/h1 over h3 as a whole ? TBH , i still think h3 is best overall than all the series(and will probably be forever the best) followed by h5 imo, than comes the others IMO (and websites rank them in the same order) ,
And the reason(well at least one of the reasons) i think for the succesfull h3 was the variaty of factions IMO, which if its reduced like they are planning in h7 i dont think it will be much better than the fiasco we had, named : h6....

Outside these four, I would like to play with Sanctuary again the most. I really like them in H6 and were a nice addition among the overused factions. But I doubt they would make an appearance again. Inferno is my least wanted out of the four, I even give Fortress an edge only because they have appeared in less games.

I like both H2 and H3. They are a classic Heroes after all. Also, glad to hear you like H5  And don't forget H5 had only 6 factions at the start too.

Truth. It is easy to forget that fact, especially if one grew accustomed to the expansions. Honestly, I try not to judge a game by its number of faction; "6" does feel like the default number, coming from a guy who entered the series at H4. Anything UNDER six and that's when the testiness kicks in. *cough*H6*cough*
Also - and I apologize if this seems like heresy - but H3 sometimes felt like it had too many factions.

Nah, its not heresy ;D Different people different tastes, but IMO many factions for me equals more options, more interesting content, more play time, tbh
I Would Rank my played Heroes games h3>h5>h2>h6>h4, but thats just me i guess...
TBH, i wouldnt mind 6 starting factions as long as there is probably 1-2 expansions each including at least a minimum of one faction or even 2 ,
But i know h3 lore is more different than Ashanish lore, but there is always room for Retcon (look at blizzard)
So including races like Swamp Fortress, Elemental Conflux etc... Wont be an impossible thing imo 
THe Final release would be like 8-10 factions, which i think might be problematic for devs since its gonna be a HUGE game, HUGE Content, with lots of stories and individual Campaign, but that's for me the ultimate game - which takes x10 times
to get bored from... ANd To go down as one of the greateast games

no offense but did you even actually take a look at GameRankings before you posted this, lmao
the Heroes 2 score is based on 2 reviews and the Heroes 3 score is based on 23 reviews, way to gather comparable and reliable data there lol
if we're really just going to skim wikipedia and copy paste it up here as an argument, I recommend having a lookhere instead, where you can get a better picture of the significant critical acclaim and industry awards Heroes 2 earned in its day

Heroes II probably had the best game atmosphere of all, and the hand-drawn sprites were simply beautiful.
Heroes III was and is the highest peak of the series, yes, but Heroes II was probably the first HoM&M to get successful.
And let's not forget that H3 was pretty much a continuation of H2, just like H2 was of H1.

Not quite like H2 to H1, mechanically it was similar, but H3 was set of a different continent, with two new (Inferno, Fortress) and two drastically different (Tower, Dungeon) factions.

But the base of the game was mostly there, H3 was about adding more stuff and making more universal (like all creatures having a single upgrade).
Of course it added some new stuff, but I still see them as an evolution of the previous one. With H4 we started to have very different games.
