Well, I'd blame the stupid constructs. I'm not overly enamoured with the Blade line-up either, and I could live without the Faceless if it ment Manticore instead, but frankly, the idea of the construct seems to boring, ill-fitting and unimaginative that I refuse to vote for either Faces or Shield.

So you rather go for Faceless and Shadowcorn because you don't like one unit in the more classical lineups ?
I'll tell you, I'm not appealed by the construct either, but for me Blade reminds too much of H6, spirit-wise.

The issue I have with Faces is that, in my eyes, it's too low on "beasts" - Trogs and Medusas are too humanoid, and the Striders... well, they're an unknown, but I suspect them as also being humanoid. That would only leave the Champions to serve that role... insufficient, I say.

My point exactly. It already happened with Sylvan, now we'll get another dose of all-too-many humanoid units...

Edit: Ok, not purple. Color palette seems improved.

But something more... substantial like the creatures themselves?

Hydra looks good, except the way the tail is lifted off the ground. Afaik snakes don't do that, it makes the hydra looks like a caterpillar.
Also, shouldn't it be more pale or gray instead of green?

The medusa looks great. However, as I feared this is a case of "Let's think of an excuse to put a naga in dungeon, because heroes 3."

About the strider we still don't know anything substantial. Only that it indeed seems to be really similar to golems

These living armours, made of Shadowsteel (or, some would say, grown from the very blood of the Faceless), are not dissimilar, in principle, to Wizards constructs like Golems or Gargoyles.

Striders are possessed by the essence of a Faceless puppeteer, who controls it from the shadows. While capable of standing their own in a fight, their main role is actually to disrupt and negate the enemy magic. Not many people have encountered Striders and lived to tell the tale therefore, I am unable to give you a reliable description of what the creature actually looks like! Most stories describe them as tall and gaunt, with long arms and legs, giving the Striders an almost insectile appearance.

Not the same.

Still don't like them at all.

My list would look like this:

1. Assassin 0
2. Lurker +
3. Skirmisher +
4. Troglodyte +
5. Stalker 0
6. Minotaur +
7. Nightmare ++
8. Faceless ++
9. Strider --
10. Medusa ++
11. Manticore ++
12. Shadow Dragon ++
13. Hydra +++

Too bad we didn't get any concept art on Nightmare and Strider but just judging from their descriptions I heavily favor Nightmare compared to Strider which I find extremely inappropriate in Dungeon.

I am perhaps the only one that likes Striders, especially given this "insect" appearance.
Also, how can't you like metal automaton insect?

And that's the reason I'm not going to shift from shield, as it really blends many creatures that you would expect underground.

I feel that Mechanical creatures have nothing to do with Dungeon. It's a faction based on mind affliction with dreams, visions, manipulation, soul erosion and whatnot. Those elves have to smoke shrooms all day to keep themselves sane, and then you throw in a creature without a soul? No way dude...

Manticores are awesome.

Vote for Shield. Let's eliminate the most useless lineup: Malassa's Thousand Feces.

Hydra indeed looks awesome, the closes to Heroes 2 Hydra(and I fell in love with Heroes 2 Hydra the moment I saw it!), but can't judge the other units because they are from different games.

Sure Medusas look great as well, but I doubt it will be like that in game.

While I still need to see them, I like the "insectoid" adjective to describe Strider's limbs, and the fact that it's controlled by Faceless from a distance makes me like it because:

- It keeps Faceless in the lore.
- The Faceless per se isn't devaluated by being elite like in the Blades lineup. This is a controlled minion and I'm fine with it being Elite.

Oh, and another mess up on Blades: Skirmishers are described as Bladedancer's equivalent but they are core instead of elite (well, maybe it's more Fury's fault as bladedancers shouldn't have been elite in the first place).

What else would you want from a creature that is a lady with snakes instead of hair to look like if not like a lady with snakes instead of hair? You were expecting a male torso or something? Medusas are what they are. At least they don't look like the horrible medusas from H4.

Btw I love that concept art, apparently it's from the canceled chinese HMMOnline or that's what I'm being told in the council forum. The color theme is refreshing for this faction, the bow looks great and if they win I hope it looks like that, much better and more menacing than H6 Nagas. I rarely like medusas as most times the snake hair looks ugly but this one looks great.

The question remains. What insect will it resemble? Spider is necro territorry. Scorpion is basically the manticore. Other then that ant or maybe something crab-like in appearance. Mantiss is probably out of question as it is too outlandish.

Heroes III Troglos ROFL

Nightmares Shadowcorns are dissapointing, I'd had prefrered if they weren't Unicorns. And if this means they can't be part of Inferno in future games I'd be really, really mad.

Shadow/Black Dragons are going to be lame for the second game in a row

Skimisher concept is better than I expected.

Medussae are just renegade nagas...but hey, they aren't purple!

I think Striders can be good if they don't look like Golemns.

And legless Hydras look GREAT
