I assumed as much already, but unfortunately that also severly limits the possibilities. As is clear from the discussion as it has evolved over these past 4 pages, the words on top of the weapon image aren't favored. Yet, if you do not wish to change those, the new one will have to follow suit and also be written over a weapon. I've seen a few of those posted in the previous pages, of which I doubt anyone can improve much without falling outside the boundaries stated.
Val, if I may be so free to ask, why is maintaining the original two images so important to you? The art and style of the "Admin" and "Moderator" logo's don't occur elsewhere on the site (as far as I can see and remember), so I am curious as to your motivation to restrict it to just the new one on its own.

"Developer" is vague and not inspiring/friendly. Hammers, bows and whatever solid behind text are killing the text. Why not use one of their public logos + the most "suggesting" name?

I myself think "Developer" is pretty clear, but here are a couple of other options.
EDIT > Also added options for "M&M Developer" and "HC Moderator" and "HC Admin" as per Geny's suggestions.

I think the last one is great (possibly substitute '+' with '&').
And to keep consistency with other icons, they could be changed to "HC Admin" and "HC Moderator".

WHy a hammer? Why not a medieval guitar? Like the bards in the old times. They are thinking up songs, and every one in the village is waiting them. We have a mage and few knights (mods), why not bards for the developers? Its going to be something really new!
The hammer is just a bit different from the sword.

Here's another set I've been working on. The font is the same as the font used for the "Heroes Community" logo in the top left corner. I've tried to use the same color scheme, but unfortunately I don't have the proper tools to make it exactly like that logo. Like before, multiple sizes. Sizes vary from 100% (top one) down to 50%, 25% and 20% (bottom one), respectively.

Finally, someone got an idea to use the same Mephisto font. Good job Maurice, this idea is much more viable.

I've made some new images. I've chosen to only display the version that is 125 pixels wide, since that seems to be the maximum that the forum can handle without (severe) distortions. I've also changed the font slightly, to use bold faced instead of normal. There are 24 pictures in total, 8 for each role. Each is with or without a weapon, with or without a fading background, and either golden in color or a specific color for the role (Admin is purple, Moderator is red, M&M Dev is blue). I've chosen to go for "M&M Dev" by the way, to fit it onto one line; "M&M Official" would have forced me to go for two lines, which would increase the height of the image considerably - which could lead to forum layout distortions.
This post is supposed to show the images as they appear against the grey forum background. The post directly below it is not a double post, but intended to show how those same images look against a white background.
The column on the right has an ellips in the background that's in color exactly halfway between white and the grey color used for the grey forum background. It was supposed to fade gradually, but it doesn't appear to be doing that. Furthermore, on a white background, it hardly shows. Infernal Blade + red mephisto works. The rest do not.
And I think M&M Dev should not feature a weapon, it feels out of place. Maybe something more magical would work. What about the Heroes 3 Sorcery icon, the blue hat?

That was something that felt off to me too, Stevie. But where would you want to place the hat, then? You don't have room on the sides (without decreasing the font size), and it would look really weird putting it below the picture.
And like I said before, I dislike the weapons in the first place . Personally, I would go for the bland purple Admin, red Moderator and blue M&M Dev.
As an aside, this will be my final contribution. The contest ends coming tuesday and since I have to work tomorrow, I'd only have tomorrow evening left to make something else. I don't see myself spending the time on it. Of course, if Valeriy does enjoy the concept enough to choose it, but would rather have a tweak or two (like a different weapon below M&M Dev), I could arrange that - just not within the current time left.
