International Create a Town Contest (ICTC) 8 - Announcement & Rules
Hello fellow HC-members. Here finally is the announcement thread for the 8th ICTC on the Heroes Community.
Those who wish to participate and/or judge are encouraged to write so in this thread. This is not obligatory for participants, though, any participant who opens a thread that meats the requirements (see at "Rules"-section of this post) will be considered an entry.
!!!NOTE: This thread is for announcement purposes and to clarify the rules. Discussions, questions or comments which go (far) beyond single entries should go to the Reviving ICTC thread for now. Comments on entries of course go with the entries!!!
Basic Informations
What is ICTC? - Information for those who never heard of it
ICTC stands for "International Create a Town Contest". As the name suggests, it's a contest in which each participant creates a HoMM-faction of their liking. 'Creating' in these case does not mean modding a previous game, but describing and presenting an idea you have for a faction you think would be great.
Also - that will be mentioned below again, but here it may be helpfull as well - each participant opens an own thread in which they present their faction.

Starting Day:
This ICTC will start at the 8th of December.
!Note that you can enter the contest later, of course, as long as it is before the Deadline!
Deadline:
The Contest will last until Sunday, the 4th of April, leaving the participants
Rules
In this section wll be the rules of this ICTC. Veterans should read this as well, because, as you might have read in the Discussions, a couple of new rules have been decided.
Restrictions
This years contest, as the first, as far as I know, comes with a few restrictions. The reasons for these can be found in the Discussion in the Reviving ICTC thread.
The first restriction is a size limit: Your factions are limited to one post now. That still is pretty much space.
The second restriction is a limit in the number of pictures. You may only enter one picture per creature, and five additional pictures for the overall rest of the faction.
Starting Date and Deadline
The starting date and deadline are obligatory. Please nobody open a thread with their faction before the 8th of December (which is next monday, so that should not be too hard to wait until then). Also, factions may not be submitted or altered after the 4th of April, 23:59:59, or they are considered disqualified.
Participant Threads
Participant Threads should follow the naming pattern "ICTC 8 - 'faction name'", "ICTC 8: 'faction name'" or "ICTC 8 'faction name'". This makes it easier for everybody (and especially the judges) to find the corresponding entries.
Judging
The judging will be done by a small number of people willing to judge the entries. Participants can be judges as well, but then they do, of course, not judge their own faction(s). The judges will give points to each entry (and every judge will judge every entry (except their own)!) and send them to the judging coordinator (who is to be announced yet), who will sum up the judgements to the final scores and post these, as well as the judgement of each judge, in the judging thread.
There are no pre-given criterias for the judges, but everybody who wants to be judge must give the criterias by which they judge (best not one week before the Deadline!) and they should give a short verbal feedback. Also, the maximum points possible will be fixed, to prevent chaos in creating the final scores.
Questions and Answers
Here you will find some questions which have been asked in the past, as well as a few which I just deem important, and answers to them.
Can I make an entry together with someone else?
Yes, you can, but should note that.
Can I enter with more than one Town?
Yes. You have to open one seperate thread for each town, though.
Am I restricted to a specific verison of HoMM?
No. You can use the system of any HoMM version, or you can alter it, or you can even use a new system. It should be recognizable as HoMM, though.
Am I restricted to which faction I should do?
No, you can do any faction you like, be it a remake of a well-known faction or an entirely new one.
Am I restricted to Ashan?
No. You are not restricted to any setting.

Hey, as a long time HoMM fan this crossed my eyes.....I'd like to join BUT.....
is it expected from me to draw the whole concept by myself? because if thats the case....I pass Or is describing (and using pictures from other stuff) enough? (in that case you can count me in)

When entering Age of Heroes Coliseum, scroll down and hit the Post new topic button to create your thread, then enter the naming pattern "ICTC 8 - 'faction name'"
Or you finally installed Horn of the Abyss, is why you disappeared ?
