I generally recommend this link for news pages and first posts, since it will always automatically update:

I suppose it would also be nice to upload MMH55-ATBHotFix-ShowFirstSmallIcon.pak on moddb ?

If we are settled on what the new ATB is going to look like I will likely update the whole thing.
I have was browsing through my old content on moddb, and actually have come to the conclusion that I liked the old ATB bar more than what we have now (except for not fitting properly at 16:10)
-First the arrows should definately not be at the end but at both sides of the bar, somehow that makes the copy of the first icon look far less illogical, this basically fixes the whole thing for me.
-Also the old theme of ATB bar does not look out of place with the other UI elements and is more sturdy and clear than this one.
-secondly there is a confusing artistic knob sticking out a few cm before the end of the bar, in H7 there is something similar going on but i believe it marks the end of the turn, but here it has no meaning so it is confusing, I want the bar straight again.
At this point i actually prefer to have the old bar back but just fitted for both 16:10 and 16:9 + patch for 4:3.
i think i can also live with the new design if the artistic knob is gone and the arrows replaced.

Ok correction to my post since I think I got another bar mixed up in it:
if the RC9a ATB bar
- loses the extra knob
+ has the arrows back to where they were
+ duplicates the large icon again
I think it is PERFECT!, no further changes needed

The artistic knob confusing? It's an artistic knob, a visual feature that brings together the whole design together with the upper panel and the combat log. If you want to revert the ATB bar back to the old design, you're going to have exactly what this design saves you from: a patch work of visual styles that just don't go together. Not to forget the new placement bar either...
I can give you the large icon back along with the arrows on both sides. I would appreciate though if we stick to a design idea and work on it, and at least evaluate it before we move on. I spent hours on the previous idea (no large icon, but a frame design to emphasize the first icon) and now you want the large icon back.
So now, for the last time, what do you want? I'm starting to lose motivation...

OK, this was a ghost post.
I do not want to remove that artistic knob (to be honest, I don't know how I can remove it without making the design look incomplete). Also, I forgot to mention the new rune bar above, which also follows the same design style.
I have another design almost complete that might look more pleasing with the knob, or not, but it's another design nonetheless.

Ok, i had not checked the runebar, so leave the knob where it is. i will have to live with it
I didn't know you already spent hours on a new design, but that puts us also in an uncomfortable position since you know there is no guarantee we like a design we haven't seen better then how it is now (after the arrow is moved back and the duplication restored)

I don't mean that you have to like it, I mean that you haven't even seen it before you changed your mind back to using the large icon. Obviously you didn't know I was working on a new design... Anyway, I'll try to show what I have but I'm working on some real-life things now

some feedback from me playing the game with the new ATB (RC9a):
Functionality wise it is awful.
I mean it looks excellent but I found out that I never look at the most left big ATB box.... It seems I have always looked at the small atb duplicate bar next to it.
it is not convinient to the point I make basic mistakes in battle.
If you can remove the big box it will be exellent! I dont mind not having any reminders for being the first creature either.

I'm gonna try and work on two alternatives:
1) Go back to the original dynamics with the large icon and the duplicate small icon, but with the left arrow in between them. My least favorite.
2) No large icon at all, two sub-alternatives.
2a) Left arrow is to the left of everything, so the arrows are on either end of the ATB bar. This design would use the frame in the last pic. I can in fact try and change the arrow design completely in a way to place the arrows on that famous artistic knob, so that the knobs on both ends function as the scroll buttons.
2b) The frame is such that it accentuates the first icon. This new frame has not one but two artistic knobs on the right end of the ATB bar (magno's favorite, lol ), creating a vertical symmetry and a floating effect for the ATB bar. With this design, the arrows can either be
i) put on the right end of the ATB bar. Not my favorite.
ii) or, using completely new scroll button design, they can be placed on the two artistic knobs such that the upper button can be left scroll, the lower button can be right scroll. My favorite.
I hope I could convey the last design well but I know one pic is worth more than a thousand words...

Just for clarification my issue with theknobs is not the visual appearance but the fact they seem to 'frame' the last 4 icons on the bar as if there is a special meaning to them.

I think I understood what you're saying for the first time: You're not talking about the knobs at the very end, you're talking about the knobs in the middle!!
There is not a strong reason they're there but only to have a unified way of designing the runes bar across different aspect ratios...
I'll see what I can do without them.

Mode 5.5 is amazing, the only thing I would like to change, is music. How can I get back all music of ToE back ?

While experimenting, I realized I cannot make the turn time limit setting work... Is there a prerequisite for that feature that I'm missing?

To change the music in homm 5 is easy. All music files are placed in C:foldersinbewtweenHoMM 5music folder. Town music is in HoMM 5musicTown-Themes, siege battle themes are in HoMM 5musicSiege-Battle, usual battle themes are in HoMM 5musicBattle-Themes. All files are in ogg file format, so you will need some transcoding program if you have files in mp3.
Town theme for Fortress (Dwarves) is in HoMM 5musica1 and for barbarians in HoMM 5musica2.
So, you just create new files, and replace the old ones, they just need to have same name, so it’s recommendable to make a backup of the old files. Size doesn’t matter, only the name.
I used to use audacity to capture and transcode files to ogg, but, since windows 8, transcoded ogg files in audacity didn’t sound the same in the game, game had the problem with them. Too much noise in the middle spectrum, so, from win 8 I use vlc for capturing and transcoding to ogg, somehow, vlc ogg compiler creates perfect ogg files for homm5 ogg player.
To change it back, on the other hand, I suppose you just need to remove HoMM 5musicMMH55 folder. I suppose everything will work as before?

Probably due to bad memories with h6 but I can't stand to hear again its Battle Combat themes so I just replaced them with the old Neutral Battle theme which is much better imo. Only downside is I have to redo it every update.

i find all neutral battle themes mediocre so I thought I just let them all cycle random so at least there is more variation.
@dredknight: could you tell mr grcevic on facebook i have recently updated the moddb article on mapmaking with the info on regulating artifacts on a map, also some info both useful to you and him:
-patching maps while already playing them (loading saves) does nothing,
-patching them while playing singleplayer will also accomplish nothing,
-also ANY map that already has ANY scripts does not need to be patched EVER.
