I'd like the option to set the mage guild specialization of a fully prebuilt guild when you enter the town. I recall prebuild mage guilds were supposed to have a random specialization which simply sucks in certain kinds of maps.

For arena-type map I managed to do the following:
when the hero learns any spell i.e from magic guild automatically advance guild to max level. Only downside is that you actually have to build the first level of the guild.
About those certain kind of maps I totally agree with you. Most of TOH maps you could build tier 6 creature day 7 week 1 = stronger elite in heroes VII. Now let`s solve this problem backwards:
12 level is the prerequisite for all stronger elites
that means towns have to start on level 6
town hall, hall of heroes, core 1 are no-brainers. Other 2 can be core 1 upgraded and core 2 basic. Last one should be magic guild level 1. There is no other solution - city hall, upgraded core 2 , blacksmith, stronger core, marketplace are all buildings I wouldn`t like prebuilt.
In heroes 5 we had fort and magic guild and the last building gave variation - either 2 basic cores or core 1 upgraded while now mapmakers are kind of stuck with the build above if they want the option with the stronger elites. This means we definitely need that option of choosing specialization of prebuilt magic guild.

Is there a way to get, for example, an arcane shrine to guarantee certain spells are given to a hero?

tested it in the expert editor you can choose a custom list and I tried it worked with even 5 spells in the basic shrine. There is also the option to choose one random spell of each school from that list.

script tool
I would like to see a step by step guide on how to do a simple thing on the script tool. (easy map editor mode). For example how to add a line of tekst after ending turn x or picking up an artifact. (i`m really interested on adding lines of tekst or dialogue to my own maps)
So far i only was able to put one script down. That was an instant win after reaching level 2 for your hero.
While i want to connect set tekst to an event and i close the window. It is as if the editor does not remember what i have just done. Same with buildings.
This is the most important thing on my list that i want to understand about map making. I`ve learned most things by now that i wanted to know. (using more props content browser and changing textures for those props, carving rivers, sculpting mountains, adding custom heroes etc)

editor doesn`t work for me. It either can`t save the map or I can`t load it. Very frustrating.
Found one bug
- if I set prebuilt creature dwellings in two towns of one player only in one of them you can buy creatures.
New features I would like to be added
- teleport hero to position X Y
- set if the prebuilt creature dwellings offers creatures or not
I think that was the case before in Heroes V

You have to save your maps on c: user (your name) -- -- custom maps -adventure maps
Can no one help me out with the script tool?
The support for the editor really is abysmal. I`ll consider playing xcom again.

I was saving in editor workspace folder. Problem remains..when I load the map the editor just hangs and doesn`t load further.
At work I can`t publish map it say something about referenced external packages. Can you help me with that, elf?
display text when you pick up artifact
1) Go to narration and add new textbox
2) Go to events add new event
from triggers -> add hero trigger -> hero picked up item
then define the exact item
from actions -> add quest action -> start text
display text on day X
1) the same as above
2) Events ->new event
triggers -> player trigger -> start end turn
define for which player
conditions -> player condition -> time passed
set to days and define days. I set to 5 days here and the message appeared on day 6.
actions -> add quest action -> start text
Now I would like a step by step how to add more props to the content browser. I would like a small skeleton like the one from Heroes V, abandoned mine and garden of wee folk. Some props that look nearly the same. Can you find ones for me ?

After i saved my files in to the adventure map file my problems were solved for a while. No more massive errors on the error log and i could start my maps i edited from the main game.
But right now i have issues saving new particle effects in the content browser. (my pc hangs and crashes when i try to safe a new particle into the right map). I`ve watched tutorials on youtube about creating the right folders on ue3 and editing particles. So far the editor is a big heap of frustration. If only i could make a way to fix the quests/tekst from the script tool i would feel confident to begin.
The script tool does not remember/safe narration/tekst and things like buildings. So i also have a lot of problems saving my stuff.
Like you i would really like to see a step for step guide towards
these issues. I`ve read about a couple of players who could also not publish their maps. One of them had problems with lightning.

I'd be more interested to have a clear list of the features you (= the mapmaking community as a whole) think are missing, that way I can discuss them with the editor team at Limbic and see what can be done in future patches.
First of all, I can't figure out why ubisoft can't see the obvious. HOMM it's supposed to be a game you play continuously, not just a few campaigns and 10-15 in-game-maps. So, in order to have all the players connected at least until the next HOMM will be released, the best way is to work HARD to develope and implement a random map generated (a good one, not a crappy-h5-like-rmg).
I understand the rmg can't be integrated into the game, but it's very important to exist somewhere. I'm not a mapmaker so the editor itself it's a nightmare for me. It should have a section for random map creation. With options like:
-map size
-how many types of terrain
-w or w/o underground
-no. of players
-portals yes/no
-patterns (like islands, continent + islands, etc.)
-no. of minor/major/rare buildings
-artifacts abundence...
-other "candies" and tweaks which can generate really unique maps.
etc...
I've read somewhere that h7's map editor and rmg is h5-alike. That sucks.. because I remember in h5 all random generated maps looked THE SAME... nothing new.. in fact it was "the map", the only difference between 2 rgm being the terrain and factions.
I really hope you will consider this when you will launch the rmg for the game.

Thanks for your advise.
Adding tekst still does not work, because when i add tekst/narrative on "action". The editor does not remember what i just selected when i close the window.
When i want to select a certain building the editor does not remember and sticks with none or unspecified.
Is it that i saved my maps or anything in the wrong file?

Sadly i could not get that far within the content browser. I`m stuck at creating new maps to put my content in. I dont know how to save them with the help of tutorials. I tried adding new particle effects that become permanent. But without saving them i could not make much progress.

Did you select the name of text in the action? It should read "display text 'show artifact'" in the action part of your event. If not then you have problem with saving. I still can't save a map or load it...

I could save my maps in both AdventureMaps and editorworkspace. Both on my c: file ( (user) (documents) ) (SSD harddrive. (havent tried starting a game on the main game with editorworkspace, but it did not help me further much now that i am stuck. So now i only pick AdventureMaps)
I dont have any problems saving or loading my maps except a rare crash when i try to save my files. The ue3 editor just is not that stable yet. Except when i tried to add some new particles with the content browser, usually it gets saved without much broblems.

Yeah. Can`t figure out what keeps it from saving. This morning i tried to install my steam folders from homm7 into another drive.
From SSD to harddrive. Did not help me any.

I reinstalled twice same problems..I will install it on NVMe SSD this week. Maybe it works only on latest hardware
@Marzhin, can you write here,please, what your notes look like so we can see no important points are missing?
I asked Limbic on stream if they changed fortune teller so it can alter next week and they said ye it was even in beta. I should have known already back then..anyway it doesn`t alter anything. Are you planning to change it or what? Do we have to learn the Kismet Unreal jargon and mod everything in this game??

Marzhin is about the only dev who responds. Moshi also on the official helpdesk. But out of the 200 posts on the helpdesk from people who asked for help. I dont think most of them got a good responce to their questions.
I did not get a responce at all.
Would love some help with my saving issues.

Has anyone figured out if/how it's possible to have more than 24 areas of control? On bigger randomly generated maps, many of the forts/towns spawn without an area of control.
While I could just extend the current areas, I'd like to have the option for more areas of control if possible.

Havent solved this issue yet. 24 is to little for my huge map. I`ve got so much issues with saving that i barely started on my map. Only tried to see what i could do with the editor.

Hey natalka,
I solved one half of my problem. The saving part for the script tool. The editor remembers what ive been doing after closing the screen.
I can now add tekst and quests. This is the most important thing for me that needed to happen. So i`m releaved this is solved.
After a third clean install. (i installed heroes 7 on another drive this time (another map within steam). And was certain i`ve cleaned up all things on my c, d and f drives.
Still there will be more potential problems. Like.
After i tried to publish my map. All saved data was lost.
publishing my maps dont work yet.
only 24 area`s for my cities which is not enough.
importing portraits i`ve painted and converted to right file/size (failed to import)
saving permanent particles on the content browser (crash when saving).
At least i can start on my huge map tomorrow. After one week of constant headaches with issues.
At least if my save files are not dissapearing again. Which could become a major issue. Hope creating a backup solves this.
