Readable Fonts - Tribes of the East
The query is concerning the mod below for "readable fonts".
http://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes5/mini_patch_eng.php#sshots
I put the .pak into the data folder as instructed (Tribes of the East) but the fonts did not change in the game.
Can someone please tell me why?
Is this ONLY compatible for the Vanilla HoMM V?
Does anyone have a link to a .pak that is compatible with Tribes of the East expansion?
Thankyou

Hello nitocris,
This pak was originally made for Vanilla.
To make it compatible with ToTe you need to unzip it change the "date modified" of the files to today and zip it back (and make it .pak again).
When there is more than one of the same files the game takes the one with latest modified date. Which in your case are the one from ToTe.
Cheers!

Thankyou for your response.
I used WinRAR to unzip the files.
I used BulkFileChanger (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bulk_file_changer.html) to change the modified date to today.
I rezipped the files/folders back to usesimplefont.pak
I first tried placing them in the data folder in ToTE, the fonts still did not change in the game.
I then renamed the file to usesimplefont.h5u and relocated it to the UserMODS folder, the fonts still did not change in game.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I will say that I have installed the 7 Xazardous MODS (version 3.1).
Any further guidance would be appreciated.
Thankyou

I was just thinking maybe the font files used in ToTE is now different to that of Vanilla?
Has anyone created one specifically for ToTE?

I did exactly what you have done and it is working on my side.
All fonts changed.
Here are the steps:
1. Unzip one of the .pak files.
2. Use software to modify "date modified". You can use this program http://www.petges.lu/home/ to change it for all files at once.
3. once done zip again the UI dirrectory. Remove .zip and add .pak at the end.
4. put it in data folder
5. launch the game.
In my case it was working with another mod HMM5.5 RC3 so xazardous mods will not be problematic.

I repeated those steps again using the FileChanger you listed, I still could not get the fonts to change.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it being a GOG copy of the game.
Also I can confirm it has nothing to do with the mods, I removed them and it still did not work.
Interestingly enough I also tested it for the 1.60 Vanilla HoMM V and it still did not work! Incredible.
Could it be that my system fonts are not available?
I don't know I'm lost.
