well i would have to say its less then everyone thinks prolly 10 % because the only cheaters are newbies once they either learn and join again and dont cheat like i! or they are stubburn and continue to cheat . or they just forget about TOH in all !

I do not think it is just newbies, perhaps because they dont know any better newbies cheat, but how do u think some players becomes captains and colonels in the first place...

Its not as hard as you think... i once had dirty hands. The only way to be caught is if someone saves and checks saves every single day, or you are stupid enough to obviously cheat in front of their eyes...

Actually i would say that less people are saving even though more cheaters are being found everyday... Heroes takes long enough without the endless task of saving everyday and then checking those saves. Some people just dont wanna go through that kind of thing.

cheaters
I mentioned this before, but looking at the colonel page today, I like what I see, and with 20+ colonels garnishing top rank in TOH, they all have clean records. I voted 10% or less cheaters in TOH. Which is a good thing, consider other games like diablo or warcraft, where a tournament of this size usually contains far more immature players (heroes usually attracts a more mature group)-- where the ratio in such tournaments would be much higher.

Hey Anfi I don't think there's many cheaters in ToH just a lot of people playing on maps they have memorized and plotted out with great plans of attack. At first i used to think players were cheatin me when they would be so far ahead of me in the game .. But then i started to realize that it wasn't that they were cheating , It was just that they knew the map they were playing so well that it was like i just sat there like a stone and didnt move , compared to thier gameplay. But after given the chance to play with good players like your self and others I finally realized it was me that needed to improve . And guess what ? hehe I am. Sure their are still some low lifes that will cheat . But life is to short to stress yourself out over it

well this is a subject that will go on and on sadly, not to knock the post just saying it's a sad part of online gaming. ves is very right most major online games with tourneys are filled with many cheaters. but i would have to disagree and say that there are many more then just 10%. most poeple think of cheaters in TOH as map editors, false reporters and extra handles. well what about people so called betting on games "who ever wins gets two wins/ loser 2 loses" , or play a game for a week then conceed to get more games played. or my biggest pet peave of the cheaters = poeple who drop from the game when they have a bad round or are about to lose a major battle and another good one the two computer users. these cheaters are much harder if not imposible to catch due to the fact of no solid evidence. and in two years of being in TOH it has amazed me on some of the sugestions to cheat from players. and also amazed me at how many acusations of cheating with no evidence what so ever just because they cant think they actually did so poorly in a game lol.
i used to like catching cheaters. i would actually save every day and then study the maps after. this made me a much better player i think because i learned alot from every loss, and also picked up alot of good stratigys from poeple on maps. however after a while i had no fun what so ever playing. being worried that your opponent cheats when you play them takes all joy out of the game. i know they are out there it's sad, but screw em' i'm here to have some fun
i also know poeple may not like the honor councels decisions all the time, and yes there may have been a few people miss represented. but it's there for a reason and it's purpose seems to be working very well. ( due to lower cheater problems in TOH then in many other games )
sorry to make this so long and please excuse the spelling, but i would also like to say i admire anfi. so far he has been the only person i have seen in my time in TOH that was actually MAN enough to admit he cheated and apologize not only to his opponent but the TOH community as a whole. time served lesson learned
good luck, take care

cheat
I might be a little stupid, but what`s the point in saving almost every day? Is it possible to cheat when the game is running? I can`t even understand how to cheat when soeone drops out (unless for playing differently the next time of course)

nuts to you all again...............
No your right theres not that many cheaters but i put 50% anyway since of the however many are registered at ToH 30% have more than 1 name registered and another 20% edit maps get booted pretty quick but nonetheless they are there ontop of that u got the people who get booted for the "TOH reasons" of booting ie bad zone mannerism, insulting vesuvius too many times ect.. but i will still say 50%

I guess with my way thinking I would be going to hell. Good thing I dont believe in it.

I agree with Ryche on this matter, I reckon about 20 percent of players cheat as I've met a few during games that I've played. I even got the impression that someone called me a cheat after I beat him at Crimson. I had all the arts and my stats were through the roof compared to his and he was so surprised that he questioned me about it. It was a bit like Kenpo said, he sat still like a rock and did nothing for six weeks. Anyways, there was another who I played and she dug the grail right out of her front yard on Crimson after having visited 1 obelisk... It was so obvious, but I didn't say a word. All I did was give her enough confidence to leave her castle alone and then I waltzed in and took the lot, grail and all, leaving her main with no castle. Nonetheless I never played her again! I reckon that you are going to have a hard time cheating your way to Captain because after that, suspicions are born and the HC will catch you anyway.

hmmmmm
I once played a plebe (i was also new at the time) once who hosted the map emerald isles. Just before i began i asked if i could switch colors with him and he refused and got all anxious. In my opinion u should always let ur opponent choose his color when u host to show u got nothing to hide.
When we started, that whole first week i didn't fight a single battle cause they were all joiners (coincidence my @ss).Needless to say i quit the game and never played him again.
I've played many other games with "Newbies" hosting and sometimes i was beaten so badly that something had to be edited (20 Archangels in 1 month on dw etc).
I think the 10-20% who are cheaters in toh are newbies who have no reputation at stake and could care less about this (for the most part) great community.
On the up side, if u compare this community with something like command and conquer online (bad experiences with those cuthroat bastards), it's a lot more comfortable. When i first came to the zone people answered all my questions, helped me check my versionm, download patches, maps, sign up with toh etc. It was great (thanx Reth).
I think making it harder for newbies to join (maybe a 'road test' hehe) might curb some of the cheating and protect the rest of the community who take pride in it.

Interesting, you guys dont touch this thread for like 2 weeks then bam
actually rage, i wouldnt say most cheaters are newbies...i would say that people who want to win so bad, that they would go to any length they had to includeing editing, to accomplish this task. and this would reach from newbies plebes, and even a few colonels ive seen...
