France ranked the rudest nation in the world
I want to start by saying that I'm personally totally okay with French rudeness, because I know that they love me deep down inside, and one person's rudeness is another person's candor. A lot of it is just about perception.
Okay, this list is completely non-objective and has a million mitigating factors (like the fact that France is so high because a ton of people visit Paris, so it doesn't have the benefit of obscurity), almost to the point that the rankings are trivial, but I'm still posting it for the lolz.

Without sounding racist, during my travels through paris (a week) I was amazed to see so many blatant street wordfights amongst the black french immigrants it was scary when you are sat in a bus and they are grouping up and shouting ALL across the main arrondissements of Paris.
That said, you will never ever find more toxic people than russians, especially in online gaming communities, voice comms and stuff.

lol, gotta agree with the list
I think it was David Wong who observed that the French were so rude because of the snobbery that comes with being born into the greatest natural terrain on earth. Wish I could remember which article that was...

Well obviously many of us would agree, the list is not an exhaustive empirical finding, it's the opinion a poll of people's opinions/sterotypes (I'm vary of polls to begin with as many have dubious data collection methods resulting in incorrect findings and conclusions). Point is, just cause there's an overarching stereotype that the French are rude, that does not make it fact.

That doesn't necessarily make them French though, being French is first and foremost a question of being culturally thus, and then a question of citizenship, thus I can be an 'American' if I hold and live by American values and morals despite lacking citizenship. Culture is both behaviour, language, accent, as language is what regulates our thoughts and speech it is almost a certainty that it impacts on the way we conduct ourselves, thereby there is the possibility that the French are viewed/perceived arrogant and rude as a natural consequence of the differences in culture.

And this is your only experience. Look at HC russians: Alex Spl, Bersy, OxFea, nik321, Sav, Itsjustme. All brilliant young people, who worked hard and created a bunch of things before their twenties. Which of course can also be explained by the quality of HC forums and its moderators (no kissing butt here), and shows that in correct environment, people give the best of them, while in no man's land, people show the worst, no matter the nationality or race.

I couldn't visit that site, as it forces me to disable Ad block, or I am too rude to give up my online security. And I don't know why my name is mentioned, as I am russian/romanian, immigrated in France, I don't even have the French nationality.
I think the so called rudeness is mostly caused by their ignorance about foreign languages. The majority of French people can not talk anything else than French, then the french language is so hard and complicated to write that even that they can't do properly.
Then Paris is a top touristic destination, now part of an Europe lacking inner borders. Then ethnic statistics are prohibited, unlike in other civilized countries, thus the poor French is suddenly guilty of everything, while I am 100% sure that the problems come from elsewhere.
Then French from Paris are VERY different from French from south, Mediterraneans. In fact, they are very special, like in no other area. Stressed, snobs, on a constant hurry, not easy to talk with.

And to speak openly, I find the title of your thread rude, to see that on first page in OSM. Some survey taken in banana land, with over 65 percent of answers from the UK and Ireland -this is like asking kurds what they think about turks, the rest from elsewhere in Europe, North America and Australia. I guess me creating a thread about America being the most racist country in the world from a similar tabloid would look very embarrassing in HC and would return toward the author, however yours goes well because you add "is for the lolz".

The only possible reason Norway could score so low must be because hardly anyone know the country exists. For some reason, when writing on the internet, Norwegians aren't that bad, but if you ever hear them speak in real life, you surely wouldn't blame us for all the wars.

They are in the minority. You've gotta realise you put 6-7 people who you personally developed an online relationship (even if distant) online. Try playing CSGO, LOL, Dota2, going to HLTV.org and you will find how toxic they are. I can just say this, as a player of CS for the past 15 years, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting more nice russian players than I could count on my two hands - it's because few exist (and I've played well over 3000 games 5v5 to see a trend). Even the professional players constantly rage against each other, calling them names, as if it's natural. Besides, I grew up in a post-soviet region and I know they are incredibly toxic, swearing a lot and condescending for no reason whatsoever. But as you said this is my experience - I am completely exposed and not sheltered to an environment where they show their true colours.
P.S. Online forums tend to subdue people and provide a more light-sided image of the person behind the monitor, especially in the 12-30 range.

And this is why this kind of polls are stupid. 1200 responses, 65 percent from UK and Ireland: this is them admitting that their sample is bad, very bad. Anyone who knows a little of mathematics (statistics to be precise) will tell you that.

Personally I don't have experience, so can't say but France is top visited contry so therefore more change for rude experiences. France tops in both friendliest and rudest lists, so it all comes down personal experiences.
In Finland, I very much dislike how our capital city Helsinki 'potrays' us as cold, distance and uncaring people. Maybe it's the same in every big city, it's strange even if you speak the same language, you get feeling did I really crossed the boarder a while back?
I have considered France as open contry, only arrogant side would be the language side. Thankfully more and more people learn english all around the world. Maybe french are not all dressed in heart t-shirts and smell like bakery but respect, be friendly, changes are you get same responce back (unless you're black) okay, that was stupid joke. Point? France can't be that bad, give it a change.
