If you play old games that run on XP, I would advise you Linux as is particularly efficient on old machines and gives them a new life. You can play all good old Windows games through wine without much trouble. I suggest a lightweight environment, like XFCE.
If you really want to keep Windows, alas 7 would already be too heavy on a dinosaur, and you can forget about 10.
XFCE -, Linux for gaming, wine emulator, I have noted,

Linu-like GUI for an example, GNOME from Tails is a little bit not so good for me as Windows XP GUI :/. Imho, I will try to use Windows 10, and then Windows 7-8 if Windows 10 will crash, but the hell I need to realize where I can get it... and how to install it in the proper way.

Linux for retro gaming, even if it's growing, there is very few games native on Linux compared to Windows which is monopole.

If you care about GUI you can learn to create your own, if you want a GUI closer to Windows there is KDE it looks familiar to Windows users, but it's a bit heavier. GNOME is standard, XFCE for really old and slow machines.

Most of time in Linux I am spenting in Tails like stuff, 99% of time is in GNOME, and this gnome start to boring me... It is consuming too much of resources of Central Processor, to display frigging datagram of some system resources, it's eating 50% of my machine CP power . In addition gnome is so.. like it made by axe , even the old as a bloody hell WinXP GUI is much more fine, so I think to use KDE instead. I have used XFCE once, of two time but I don't remember what it is.

Need I to use a darn Windows 10x/8x/7x to play on VALVE/GOG games online? Or some special Linu-stuff will be enough? Any alternative to Linux/Windows in this case?

Hm, still assuming you're not into modern gaming where Windows and a strong machine are mandatory, I recommended an XFCE environment for Linux because it is very lightweight and low consuming on resources.
If you find its looks boring, another great perk of Linux is you are actually able to completely change it to fit your own personal taste! You could even have it look very close to WinXP. Have to learn how to do it first, though. Linux is for the "samrty" guys.

Well, yeah Linux is for programmers, but if we gonna think in this direction the lot of OS will appear, and smarty guys imho using their own hardware and their own main programs such as OS, at least most of it, but this only touching the common poor mortals, large monsters by default have 99,99% of their own unique stuff anything else is just a joke and hoax for a poor mortals , this is obviously, well frostysh is stupid so he don't know for sure.
And my life experience talks with programmers, is sad, witnessed no single good programmer, they all was like A + b = C, A + b = C, etc, etc, a very different from some other Scientists that I knew.

Anyway, if OS Windows 10 will not freeze ma' old electronic Machine-System-Friend , I think it's will be enough.

P.S. Any good VALVE/GOG Free-to-Play/Free, MMORPG/Casual, for HUGE connection to GIN latency (turn-based?) and the old Machine
