i don't think it's funny what happened to her. but i do find it funny the amount of racist humor can be tied to it. statistically speaking, and all that.

they have it on video, but will it be enough to deny it wasn't planned? because anyone can make a similar video, just in case you wanted to break somebody's jaw; or something similar.
if not flat-out battery, then reckless endangerment charges, maybe? i think that's still a felony. correct me if i'm wrong.

Come on Galaad, it's obviously not just me thinking it, there's such a thing as gone too far to be funny anymore. There's factors that contribute to a situation being funny or not with countless examples even on this thread. One of them being who gets it, if it's the person trying to impress or an innocent bystander. How he/she gets it, if the end result is worth a laugh or something more serious. If there's some sort of irony or stupidity involved or something relevant to the context, nothing of the sort in your example as opposed to the guy getting hit by a police car on a zebra (as Elvin even pointed out). Things like that can escalate a situation where laughing would be inappropriate.
Picture this, if the guy hit himself instead of his trusting friend, it would've been funny because then you'd think along the lines of "you get what you deserve". If he tripped and hit his butt it would've been a lot less dangerous than hitting his head, those zones bearing different importance for someone's well-being.
So no, to me it's not funny, it's uncomfortable to watch. No need to get defensive about it, our definitions of funny differ. Mind you I didn't laugh at a lot of stuff on this thread, this was just a more glaring example.

I always thought Darwin Awards were about the creativity through which people removed themselves from the genepool, through their own stupidity. I agree with Stevie, these last few posts are different; they're displaying stupidity that inflicts harm to others instead of to the one acting like an idiot.

In this case none of the memes or links posted in the thread are Darwin Awards then. Just check out OP, it does not involve death and is a stupid action made by someone also harming others. I don't understand why the sudden nitpick.

Yes, the reason they are called Darwin Awards is that the people involved in the act are killing or at least endangering themselves. (Of course, you can argue that she is the candidate here for going along with his Bruce Lee wanna-be boyfriend/friend's suggestion, not the kicker.) That being said, I don't think someone getting a kick in the cheek accidentally falls under the category of "disturbing to watch" either. I mean, she agreed to the stunt, nothing serious happened to her, she didn't even lose consciousness. It would have been disturbing if they tried that with a gun trying to pull a William Tell and she got shot in the head or something. As it is, it's just something maybe better suited for the Funny Links thread.
