I guess the big question is, do you see enough games on launch to justify owning the console at that point? If yes - go for it. Otherwise, there's no harm in waiting.

Well I do want to play that Zelda. But Zelda is the only interesting title so far. FE is coming in 2018, and no info about the Pokemon game...
It would be nice if Nintendo revealed some more plans in the meantime. I don't want to wait till E3 for some big announcements.

If they give me (yeah quiet a few requirements but still ):
- a great Fire Emblem game (traditional) like Radiant Dawn
- a great and stylish platformer like Muramasa or sth like Okami (I know it's not an exclusive, but I want sth similiar )
- a spiritual succesor to Metroid prime game
- a Pokemon game that is a full blown home console title
[and maybe an spiritual successor to Advance Wars]
Then I will call it the best console evah!
A (probably) great Zelda game is already there...
In terms of actually buying the Switch I think I might wait with the decision a bit afterall. Horizon Zero Dawn is being released at the same time, ad it's probably the only PS4 exclusive I must play (aside from God of War, but that's a melody of the future, and while not an exclusive, RDR 2 also). By then the dust will settle and maybe we will have a clearer view...

Ok maybe without that.
BTW nice to see a retro consoles enthusiast, I also have the golden age, but I actually had them as a kid, always took great care of them. The Dreamcast was insanely good and so in advance for its time, I had it cheap from a friend and Shenmue I & II were mindblowing.
I only own EU versions though, but I have the adapter for the SNES.

Does anyone have some expieriences with Mario Kart 8?
There will be the 'Deluxe' remaster on Switch, and I pretty much want it. I really like the (what I call it) the positivness of Mario games, plus I think this game is a great idea to have some family time with my niece and maybe my brother and sister-in-law... from what I understand two joycons can be used and I don't need to buy another one to play a 2-player split screen mode?
Also it's a bit disappointing that it's not coming out earlier (28th of April if I remember).
And yes, at this point I pretty much decided on buying Switch, the only question being if I should wait a bit, cause Horizon ZD, or buy them both at the same time. I'm a little bit afraid there might be some shortages in it's availabilty... ARGH! Why is it so that you won't find an interesting game for a few months, and then comes March when there are so many things (and expenses) going on!

I heard its sometimes referred to as the best Mario kart to date, but I think double dash was the best. I have 8 for the Wii u and I like it, but I'm not a fan of how much "flair" they try and add to it. By that I mean all the ramps, and flying throgh the air, or basically not being on a kart...Mario racing would be a more proper name imo
I'd pick it up if I got the switch, but not for 60. It's a still over a year old and it's just a racing game.

It would be nice if it didn't had the full price tag. It's a re-release as you say. But it's Nintendo, so it can't come cheap. On the bright side, the game contains all thus far released DLC (paid!) plus some extra stuff like characters and courses (and all the patches ofc). And a revised battle mode with dedicated tracks, which state in vanilla game was said to be it's weakest element. That's quite a deal (the DLC packs practically double the amount of in-game content on their own already), so it might at least make the price easier to swallow. Take a look here.
That said I think it's a must have for me. It's a great multiplayer game for me an my family, and I had quite a pause from Mario Kart, so this all will feel fresh to me...
Damn I'm getting quite excited with the Switch. Something I didn't feel for quite some time when it comes to gaming...

So I finally did it...
Switch pre-ordered with Zelda BotW. Of course pre-order is not the final call and I will be on the lookout for better deals. I only hope there won't be some day one issues with this device, like some serious f*ck-ups or blowing-ups...
Maybe it's better to actually wait a bit? For opinions and test runs? Well, like I said I can always cancel the pre-order.

Okay that last picture is a little weird
I say good choice Mr.blob! I want to do the same but I just moved into a new place and am looking to get a dog before more video games. I'm gonna grab Zelda for the Wii u to help my bank account and pick up the switch closer to Christmas. (However this is all before any news about trading in Wii u to get a discount off the switch, that's my only hope rn) I read your Mario kart link and I'd agree with the decision to pick that up. They let you hold two items!! Kinda like double dash.
Definitely post your impressions on the console and Zelda next month, I'd like to read them

First I'll probably play Horizon ZD. Yeah I know I'm really greedy, two of such big games at once, that's why I'm still thinking if I should wait with buying Switch afterall. It's proabbly a wise thing to do. Unfortunately for me at this point I'm simply so captivated with Switch I simply can't wait anymore.

Switch made me think: it's 300$ for a handheld when you get down to it.
Oh well IPhones, Galaxies and other stuff is still more expensive...
EDIT: 4 reasons not to pre-order Nintendo Switch
I video that I watched that actully made me hold firmer to my decision about pre-ordering Switch I will say what I think looking from my perspective:
- I don't have a Wii U. And most people also do not probably (weak sales), so 'buying Switch just to play Zelda and it's on Wii U also' is not a valid argument for most of the people. Besides looking on some of you guys you would buy this console JUST for Zelda
- Weak launch day titles: I don't remember PS4 and Xbox One having 'strong' launch day titles aside from the standard ports of mainstream c*ap like Battlefield (not to say those are bad games, but I dislike the fact many people buy them just because of the hype). One year later and I still didn't see that many games that interested me. And Switch has something those console don't: truly unique titles available only on this platform.
- Weak multiplayer: now I know this is actually serious as so many people simply can't imagine gaming without multiplayer, but I'm on the opposite: the less focus on ONLINE multiplayer in a game the better for me. So this argument I ignore.
- Additional costs: I think the author went a bit overboard here, not one of those things is needed to enjoy the full gaming expierience, aside maybe from the small storage, but in my case I don't think I will be needing more, aside from dlc I don't buy digital games. The only acessory I will be getting is the pouch and screen protector which comes in one set. Waiting with Nintendo isn't effective cause it's products really hold onto their prices. Plus the author seems to forget that Switch comes with two gamepads, sth it's rivals didn't have, like, never. And this is actually important to me as I plan to enjoy Mario Kart 8 with my family... I also hope there will be some free downloadable party games or demos to try.
Yeah I know, when a guy buys sth he will find many arguments to justify his reasons, but like I said before: for me it's better to buy a device that will give me those few games that I will really enjoy, then to look on this whole 'PS4/XboxO looks better' argument. I have a PS4 and for the last couple of moths it has almost been sitting on dust...
Oh and there's 4 reasons to pre-order Switch
