Pokémon let’s go would make a terrific 25$ game lol. I bought it to fill the void while I was waiting for smash to come out. If you grew up with the originals then it’ll be a blast just walking around and seeing Kanto in 3D. The Pokémon look great too. Unfortunately they still do their basic idle animation for everything and the game difficulty itself is dumbed down to a level that I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. The way the catching mechanic works I really don’t care to play it again either hahaha. So I do not recommend it until a major price drop.
Wih that said I do hope they bring over the Pokémon in the wild mechanic. That alone makes the game feel and look really good. I wanna see more animations out of the Pokémon. I want this new game to be difficult. If we could get a hard mode that’d be dope!
As for the direct I’m predicting we see stage one of all the starters and a run down of how the game is gonna look. We’ll see in an hour

I wanna see moving foliage But seriously I would love if the game had Pokken aesthetics, maybe even more mature characters? Your avatar not being a 10-12 year old but 16 for instance? Ffs, kids got the Pokemon Let's go already, give older players some love. Digimon already did it with Cybersleuth.
Or at least a simple 'hard' difficulty please.
Regarding the starters, people speculate that the 3 Pokeballs from the Directs banner are a hint here.
Less then an hour left, we'll see.
EDIT: So, Sword and Shield eh?
- Great Britain as the inspiration for new region. No surprise here, it was one of the most rumored settings since way back.
- Bad thing: it's Let's Go engine with a few tweaks, so nothing entirely new. The good: it looks gorgeous.
- best Pokemon game evah or so they say. I hope it will take all the best ideas from previous entries. They said "for old and new players alike". So give us the "Hard" mode ffs.
- the starters were leaked? At least I remember seeing the fire bunny somewhere. The chimp also seems familiar...
Bonus: seems there will be something soccer related. Well daa, It's England we're talking about here! It will probably be a mini-game/beauty contest like venture.

Meh sword and shield don’t interest me so far. The new Pokémon designs are so bad lol. I passed on sun and moon, which was a first, but it was cause I couldn’t make a roster of six that l liked. I’ll have to wait and see more of what they make. Things already look bland to me. All three starters look unoriginal...they all have just a simple round heads and basic features behind some stupid animal design. Wtf lol

Yeah, the only thing that got me interested is the setting. But it's more of the same as always. Even the starters...
PS: I wonder if there will be some cool wolf-like Pokemon as legendary. Probably some wolf twins fighting for power
PS 2: Now we probably will need to wait until 15th of March to get some more info from CoroCoro.
PS 3: But yeah, after the hype went down I must say I'm disappointed. I mean, I will probably pick the game up, but this is not what I was hoping for when mainline Pokemon games were announced for a home console for the first time ever. I thought Pokemon Let's Go was supposed to be the 3DS game with enhanced graphics for Switch game... I guess we can also scrap the difficulty setting idea
Still more excited for Fire Emblem Three Houses, I think it's more of a substantial evolution of a franchise then a next Pokemon game ever was.

Yeah the whole thing feels rushed. And if it isn't rushed and this was their vision then they need to reimagine it lol. I was expecting some slick visuals like what we got from pokken tournament. If all the pokemon have unique animations then the lame graphics will be forgiven. But if everyone just does their idle animation for everything, again, then no thanks
Still can't get over how stupid those starters are. There must be dozens of chimps, apes, and monkey pokemon at this point. Wasn't there a chimp fire starter already?? lol. Why does the lizard also have a round face
All my eggs are going into three houses this year.

Easy boys! Easy!
Region looks gorgeous. Graphics of the pokemon looks alright. The new starters do not excite though.
Fire bunny - So Buneary / Lopunny with fire type. I think it will go into a steel dual type. Or a classic Fire/fighting I hope to see an evolution line that goes from cute to more sinister.
Grass monkey - No lizard though. It looks average. I guess it will grow into a big Chestnaught dude.
Water squishy thing - WOrst one Water/poison.. Will turn into something ugly. Just dont give me a popstar-pokemon again.
BUT! The region, the graphics and the 3D. The world seems huge. The region looks different and exciting. The map is a bit linear, I do not hope it is like Sun&moon, where you really didnt feel like you could do any other route.
Pokemon Shield & Sword .. It looks interesting and just different enough from Sun&Moon. I like it.
I will buy it. I am a fan for god's sake!

I will also buy it, it's a Pokemon game at its core which means at least 60+ hours of pure RPG/TBS fun.
The setting is pure gold, Britain with its landscapes: its nature and neolithic landmarks dotting it here and there, industrial era city or that town in snow. It gives me the Kalos vibe which was my favourite setting so far. And yes I've seen the foliage is moving so there's progress since Let's Go
I'm just disappointed they didn't make a bigger leap...
If they only give me harder difficulty then I'm all-in.

I do believe that GameFreak are a little affraid to change Pokemon too much.
But so far I am still hyped and it is alright. I saw a leak of the water starter evolution line that looked pretty real. Man it goes from horrible to awesome.
Still not too keen on the starters.

Well, I've seen a leak of starters some time ago that looked pretty legit. Ofc it turned out entirely different design wise, but surprisingly it was pretty spot on when it comes to what rl creatures the starters are inspired by: it was an orange-brown rabbit, green-white monkey and a blue platypus (yeah a bit different then a frog-lizard we got, but it had some similarities) respectively. So I guess sometimes the leaks might have a bit of truth in them.
That said I'll stay away from leaks this time. Went through this back when Sun and Moon were being revealed, and at times I was disappointed. Better wait for that CoroCoro reveals...
As we know Britain has a lot of identity, so there is enough stuff to inspire some really cool Pokemon design: celtic, knights, ghosts, dragons, elves, forest wildlife etc.

Yeah despite my words I’ll be picking it up too lol. First legit console Pokémon game finally!
The starters are certainly atrocious. And it’s scary to think this is what they wanted to show off...but with that said I really liked the first forms of all the sun and moon starters and ended up hating their final forms. I want to like the water one here so I’m holding out hope for a cool water poison lizard design. The fire bunny doesn’t have much potential for me. The chimp looks like it’ll become another super buff looking fighter thing...hope I’m wrong. At least their artwork looks better than the
Excited to see a new dragon type mix if they go that route again. Dragon and grass maybe? Dragon and electric?

My intitial reaction for the starters also wasn't positive, but I'm usually meh at first, but the starters grow on me as their evolutions are revealed. For instance I was meh for Rowlet, but when I've seen Decidueye I just couldn't resist it I'm suprised you didn't like gen 7 starter evolutions, only the seal was meh imo, Inceneroar and Decidueye are badass...
We probably shouldn't expect a revolution, but it would be nice too see a new Poke type maybe or some new Eevee variants. Or maybe they will add something like Uber beasts? Automaton Pokemon for instance (it would swing with the "industrial" vibe of Galar).
We'll just have to see. But to tell you the truth I've watched the trailer again, noticed a few more things and I'm actually a bit more interested now. There's still a bit of hype left in me
EDIT: IGN made an interesting analysis of the Galar region map. Because I didn't see a high-res image of the map before some things didn't caught my attention. A lot of interesting stuff is there to see.

The artwork makes them look a little better for me than those 3D models the video showed us. I just hate how unoriginal and uncreative they look. It’s like they had a stick figure for a template and just added a few facial features to each one lol. I wasn’t a fan of incenroar because of the switch to humanoid look. First two looked like look fire cats to me then he became a weightlifting bipedal wrestler..? I like them looking like monsters not people. Just a preference. Not as bad as the fire pig from gen 5 (or 4?) but still. Decidueye was okay but the random glasses and bow and arrow thing turned me off. I kinda liked the water one hahaha.

I kinda understand where you're coming from. First few generation were leaning more into "animal" direction, but they went for more humanoid forms later on. But I won't agree with you, Gen 7 designs were cool, so much better then Samurott or Serperior for instance. Guess it's a matter of preference. But let's be honest, this discussion can go on endlessly, I kinda understand why Game Freak doesn't want to change the starter formula (there's always a little bit of this rivalry between team grass/fire/water ).

Update 3.0 & Joker trailer for SSB Ultimate
They really nailed it with Joker. It looks like the dlc was made with a lot of care to Persona franchise down to the littlest detail (victory screen, school uniform alt. costume). It's cool that they also added references to past two titles (P4 and P3): music, stage motives and Mii costumes. Speaking of the stage itself: why didn't I think of Mementos!
And the stage builder looks awesome, such a cool idea. It's a shame you probably need the paid online service to access all this stuff.

Joker is great and all but I'm psyched to have the stage builder back. I like the premade stages but there is just something special about making your own.
Oh, and I've been playing through a rogue-like, Wizard of Legend, on Switch. I recommend it if you are a fan of the genre.

I'm not a builder, I rather play someone else stages if they're good. I might play around a bit around it though, why not? But since I won't be buying the online service I will probably miss on all that content.
The update is nice though (even if those things were kinda logical to be added in the long run), makes the game even more epic and it's already great replayability value rises even more. The attention to detail for Joker + the quality of the update shows that some of Nintendo games are currently at a very high standard when compared to their rivals.
You can hate Nintendo all you want, but something about them tells me they are one of the last quality (big) developers left.
EDIT: About stage editor: figures, but people are already uploading stages with indecent content. That is how internet works ofc but knowing how Nintendo is sensitive when it comes to parental control they will either try to control it or block it. Way to go internets

Joker is actually more fun than I expected.
I have never played the Persona games, so I was not very excited. But he is a fun character. The stage is cool as well. Probably the best of the new ones.
Who do you want to see next?

What strikes about Joker is how well he is incorporated to the game. Like I said: down to the tiniest detail. As a person who played Persona 5 from start to finish I guarantee that.
Who will be next? Well Reggie said when revealing Joker that "you can expect this kind of approach from Nintendo for the coming DLC characters". So this leads to characters that are either a part of a game that will be at some point ported to Switch (Persona 5 is a given, right?) or that promote a new game. So we can expect characters like Goku or someone from Dragon Quest or Square Enix games. Maybe someone from Platinums new game - Astral Chain? I think.
Meaning: at this point I have no clue...
