Masked psychos are human. Their motives can be understood. Once understood what is their to fear?
Beings of a higher power such as Fey or gods are locked into their divinity and what they stand for. They represent concepts. Don't stray into their domain and you'll be fine. Fey are mortal in a sense. They bleed like all the rest, and if they bleed they can die. (Not sure if the 'old crone' was a reference to The Morrigan, but if it was nice job. You earned some brownie points for that)
Undead are still dead. They wither. They rot. They die.
A virus is just mankind's own stupidity bringing about its downfall. Nothing terrifying about it except for the fact that you can expect it.
Lovecraftian horror though? Cosmological beings that are so powerful in their sheer existence that merely looking at them causes insanity? Nothing you can do about it but to submit. Submit and pray they will end you mercifully.
Also I wouldn't exactly call Freddy a cosmological horror. He is more like Pennywise from IT. Their entire being and sense of identity is based upon a singular concept. That concept drives them, gives them purpose. Take that away from them and they truly have no power over you. Take away the fear or the nightmares and you have nothing left. They vanish.

well, they ARE the most interesting; and certainly the most monstrous.
after some thought, i think you might be onto something with freddy. he even changes shape, and effects two planes of existence.
we will probably never know what it would have been like to see freddy as an eldritch monster... 
on that note, which ONE of the following slasher-related statements is false?
1. as a kid, i dressed up as freddy krueger for Halloween one year.
2. as a kid, i dressed up as jason vorhees for Halloween one year.
3. as a kid, i dressed up as michael myers, but not for Halloween.
4. as an adult, i played michael myers for a Halloween gig to scare people.
5. as an adult, i had many dreams of being chased by leatherface.
6. as an adult, i had many dreams of being chased by jason vorhees.
7. as an adult, i found a website where you can buy movie-specific freddy krueger gloves that are entirely functional.
8. i made three jason vorhees hockey masks: one as a kid, and two as an adult.
9. i never bought the michael myers mask, because the store versions look and fit ridiculous, and have horrible hair.
10. i have owned multiple items the slasher killers have had/worn/used in their movies.
