Oddball's Town Ideas
Just wanted to share the things that I had been working on. I am in no means a modder, just really creative. Feel free to discuss if you want to.
Quote:
//***Town Name: Cathedral***
Represents: East Jadame
Alignment: Evil
Natural Terrain: Hexed(Savannah?? Prairie?? Arid??) (brown/gold grass that almost looks like it is dead but it isn't)
Might Hero: Confessor
Magic Hero: Inquisitor
Play Style: Town is rather focused towards Magic. Creatures are rather well rounded in stats except attack, creatures secondary abilities are where they shine. Buffing spells would be a wise course of action, as creatures are weaker in attack than even Fortress creatures. Continue to climb until late game where they taper off.
The town is basically the antithesis of Castle. A town that has taken their devotion so far that they are fanatical, maniacal, prideful. Believing themselves superior to everyone and everything. And if you don't believe, well, death to the non-believers. Iron is a major focus of this town, as in most fairytales and myths, iron damages/burns many supernatural creatures. A mix of my own ideas and the HotA team's original ideas for Catherdral. My original post if interested; http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=45731&PID=1489547#focus
General Aesthetic: Dark metal buildings, black stone, lots of tall, towering spires, exposed staircases that connect numerous buildings together, lots of iron add-ons to the buildings, like bars or spikes or lattice like iron webbing wrapped around the buildings all spiky. Town screen has grass surrounding town is brown/gold it almost looks dead but its not, hilly, black clouds constantly sit over the town, muddy unkept roads. Think Mordor buildings from LotR (The Black Gate, Barad Dur). Town music has like a very dark, somber, theme with a ominous choir.
Moat: Is just iron spikes impaled in the ground. With more spikes added onto those. Spikes everywhere!
Blacksmith: Ballista
Mage Guild: Level 4 (possibilty of change to level 5)
Resource Silo: Gems
Town Specific Buildings;
Iron Maiden {Not the torture device, but an actual building. Basically heroes willingly allow themselves to be tortured and torture others. Increases Defence and Attack stat.}
Spire of Blood {A large tower with a clawed top, a bright light sits atop it, red eneregy (blood?? blood energy??) crackles from it and sometimes swirls around the tower ascending to the top. Increases heroes spellpower by a percentage, kinda like Necromancy Amplifier, is cumulative to a cap.}
Spinning Wheels {A Fanatic/Demented horde growth building. Adds spinning torture wheels around the Fanatic/Demented's dwelling.}
Conversion Chamber {Basically their version of a Skeleton Transformer, costs money to use, converts similar levels, so lvl 1 --> lvl 1 or lvl 5 --> lvl 5.}
Grail Building: Effigy of Iron and Blood {Standard Grail effects plus grants the Forgotten/Fallen's Hatred to all units of Catherdral.}
Dwellings;
Level 1: House of Pain
Level 2: Torture Chamber
Level 3: Apothecary
Level 4: Chimera Cavern
Level 5: Werewolf Den
Level 6: Blood Towers
Level 7: Shrine of Hatred
Creatures;
Level 1: Fanatic ---> Demented {Humanoid ish. Basically wrapped in chains, spikes, and other torture devices, believe there pain brings them closer to there god. Your typical cannon fodder unit.}
Level 2: Tormentor ---> Torturer {The human torturers who torture the Cathedral's prisoners. Special ability is Mutilate. Basically could inflict double damage.}
Level 3: Pestilent??? (subject to change) ---> Plague Doctor {Humans who have been consumed by the poisons that they concoct. Pestilent look like living zombies really, mutilated and stiched together as the poisons consume them. Plague Doctors are dressed like, well, guess. Ranged unit. Throws vials of poison, physical attacks are coated in venom.}
Level 4: Chimera ---> Abyssal Chimera {Your typical chimera. Lion front half, goat head and rear half, snake tail. Look up Dragon's Dogma Chimera that's my reference/inspiration. Can inflict poison via Snake Tail. Goat Head can negate magic. Upgraded Lion can breath fire. (Still being worked on).}
Level 5: Werewolf ---> Werewolf Alpha {Werewolves (Van Helsing(the movie)style.) Mainly cause I love them as well as Vamps. Special ability is Rend. Basically can inflict Bleed.}
Level 6: Apostate ---> Heretic {Another Ranged unit. Fires globs of diseased blood. Apostate only hits one unit, Heretic hits multiple units. Special ability Transference. Heals via blood by doing damage to one stack and healing another. 3 casts only.}
Level 7: Forgotten ---> Fallen {Vengeful spirits animated by their own hatred. Flying. Hatred (hates everything), Living, Unliving, Undead. (Not the same form of hate that Angels/Devils or Black Dragons/Titans have. Is only a 10% attack bonus not 50%.}
Quote:
//***Town Name: Temple***
Represents: Vori
Alignment: Good
Natural Terrain: Ice (different than snow or ice terrain)(Tundra??)
Might Hero: Berserker
Magic Hero: Shaman
Play Style: Town is might focused. Creatures are the textbook definition of "glass cannons". Very high attack stat and speed, as well as powerful special abilites, but very low hp and defence stat. Creature growth is above average for lower leveled creatures to account for their weaker defence and low hp. Benefit greatly from defensive magic. Suffer in early game.
This town hails from Vori. So it is basically an almagamation of the the tribes that is found in Vori. No Snow Elves because we don't really know anything about them and we already have an Elf themed town. Heavily inspiried by Vikings and Norse mythology. Also inspired by phoenix4ever's town idea on this thread; http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=45731&PID=1489495#focus
General Aesthetic: Many wooden buildings with thatched roofs, scandanavian architecture, while others are built mainly out of stone. Rather haphazard stone paths connect some buildings, or just muddy roads. Torches line the roads for some light. Town screen is set at night (for no other reason than most towns are set during the day) with the full moon overhead, lots of stars in the night sky. A few living trees are dotted among the buildings with all their leaves still on the trees, all covered in snow obviously. Town music is tribal, warlike, with a lot of drums, almost like a war-march I guess.
Moat: Icy Pit
Blacksmith: Ammo Cart
Mage Guild: Level 3 (might change to level 2)
Resource Silo: Crystal
Town Specific Buildings;
Wellsprings {Geothermal springs well up from the ground. Increases the health of the town's units by a fixed percent, is cumulative, up to a certain percent.}
Hall of Feasts {Large hall with high roofs. A Increases heroes Defence stat.}
Tower of Ravens {Basically what is says on the tin. Tall tower of stone with a swarm of ravens circling it. Increases the vison radius of heroes, does not cumulate.}
Colosseum {A ruined version of the adventure map version. Weathered and crumbling. Ancient. Increase heroes Defence stat.}
Kegs of Ale {Giant barrels added onto the side of the Alehouse. A Warrior/Blood Warrior horde growth building.}
Grail Building: World Tree {Standard grail effects plus it increases the health of all units by a fixed percentage. Larger increase than Wellsprings.}
Dwellings;
Level 1: Alehouse
Level 2: Snow Dens
Level 3: Hex Hut
Level 4: Longhouse
Level 5: Hall of Feathers
Level 6: Ice Spire
Level 7: Root Lair
Creatures;
Level 1: Warrior ---> Blood Warrior {Nothing special.}
Level 2: Giant Wolf ---> Winter Wolf {Nothing Special}
Level 3: Seer ---> Hexen {Ranged unit, fires a version of magic arrow as its attack. Spellcaster unit, can cast Fortune, Misfortune, Sorrow, or Mirth. Randomized. Cast at advanced level. Cast every 3 rounds much like Enchanters (balance check; they are ranged unit first spellcaster second, can either cast or shoot, not both).}
Level 4: Viking ---> Einherjar {Warriors of incredible skill. Very powerful once upgraded. Upgraded version can cast Slayer on themselves or allies, (slayer affects behemoths, dragons, hydras, angels, demons, titans, haspids, etc.) 3 casts only.}
Level 5: Valkyrie ---> Shimmering Valkyrie {Winged women with iridescent feathers. Non-upgraded version has double attack. Upgraded version has double attack and gains double retaliations as well and can cast prayer at advanced level. One cast only. (May change to a ranged unit. Undecided).}
Level 6: Jotunn ---> Frost Jotunn {A giant being comprised of the essence of winter. Non-upgraded only has a physical attack. Upgraded version gains a frosty attack and the Frost Breath ability, a percent chance to freeze enemies soild. Also attacks adjacent enemies in front of the unit. Like Cerebi 3-Headed Attack ability.}
Level 7: Nidhogg ---> Cursed Nidhogg {The dragon/serpent that gnaws on the roots of the World Tree. Flying. Breath Attack. Attacks via breathing out black fumes/gases. Upgraded they gain a special ability called Noxious Fumes. Cursed Nidhogg's attacks are capable of inflicting Withered status. Reduces the attack/defence on affected unit.}

I'm not a modder. I have no capabilities/experience. This is just stuff that I have been working on for a month now. Just ideas.

I hate to bring it to you, but if someone starts to work on a town, this person will only use his own ideas. I can't imagine someone working >10 hours a week on a heroes 3 mod to implement someone else's dream.

and on top of that, a billion other members have come and gone with their own ideas, nearly all of which didn't come to fruition.

My god you guys. I literally have no expectations of making this mod or having made. I am well aware of what it takes to make a mod.
This is literally nothing more than a text file, tucked away in the corner of my desktop that I add to every now and then when I get inspiration. I literally said at the very top of my post that I am not a modder, just creative. Nowhere have I said that I am looking for people to design this for me.
If I was looking for someone to create this for me I would've asked. I'm just sharing my ideas.
Maybe looking for some interesting debates. Which I obviously and not getting because some people can't seem to read.

I would have loved to see a Vori town myself.
The Cathedral town as an "anti-Castle" sounds pretty interesting as well. I especially like the Cathedral units you thought of.

Don't worry Oddball, there is nothing wrong with having ideas and being creative, even though they does'nt become more than ideas.
I have a lot of ideas myself.

Thanks! I kinda just looked at Castle and what they represented and flipped it on its head.

I am curious to see what Sanctuary is - if it is something like the Sanctuary of the Ashan games, or something else (like the H3 Fortress is not at all the H5 Fortress).
