God of High School ended, 6/10. Fights were well animated, they visibly put a lot of effort into choreographing them, but that's about it. Story, characters, pace, setting, the superpowers, overall feeling at the end... all of them lacking, and it got worse as it progressed. Probably won't follow anything else should more of it come out.

I still remember that no-lifer speech from that raid leader before the final boss. It was the most epic scene in the entire series. Ah man, that kinda brings it back, maybe I should re-watch myself.
Though I also distinctly remember the second season not being as good as the first, so that was a bummer.

On a serious note, because this thread derails too much into my imaginary existential problems subject, seems Re: Zero will be the anime that closes the season for me, with every other being finished. So essentially, pointless as it is, I will summarize the best it had to offer (the summer season that is):

My Teen rom-com SNAFU -> strange name as it is (feels like a class B horror), one of the most interesting rom-coms in recent years with lovable characters (mostly Komachi and Sensei)
Deca-Dence -> suprisingly solid sci-fi action flick (with a nice twist early on), that seems to have been planned since the start. I like to see more of these kind of shows.
Appare-Ranman -> another original adventure series that was postponed by the beer virus, but it actually went pretty well and didn't loose it's focus from start to finish (pun intended), even though it get's pretty dramatic at one point. Basically Wacky Racers but with Japanese flair.
Fruits Basket S2 - yeah even I like to watch me some emo-teens with their existential problems, but you gotta handle it to them: their lives sucked.
Monster Musume Qwack -> becasue reasons (waifus)
Great Pretender -> (didn't finish it yet but it's pretty good so far) a Netflix original that is a about a team of cons, made into (I belive) 3 short story arcs (each one covers one scam). Pretty original, both in subject and style. It's kinda a bit of comedy, drama and adventure.
God of High School - only for the lols and fight choreographies, because everything else is wtf?
Enen no Fireworks S2 - it continues the story, but aside from a few badass moments (fight with Charon) it actually is a downgrade from the first season, both in story and quality.
So, if you were a Stevie before he was enlightened by yours truly (and can handle himself now), you can go watch these series, it basically covers a lot of genres.

The reveal was not surprising which leaves a meh feeling.

It actually makes sense (in how the said guy conviniently disappears each time). But the interesting bit here is how Subaru will crack this one - there's a guy who actually wishes to torment him cus he belives that will make him stronger. It's like those psycho-stalkers who might hurt your family if you're not careful.

I know right? Every time it feels like such a missed opportunity but I think it's part of the charm of the series, even if it's frustrating at times.

It does feel like the season was cut forcefully. F*cking 12 episode format...
This episode actually made me realize Subaru is tormented on even more levels I actually belived. Although every time you think it's time for him to man up, he collapses in self-pity yet again... I wonder if at the end of the day he will be some kind of Ultra Sage" "You know, having "lived through" 1500 deaths and being tormented by bunnies, maniacs, assasins, witches and beasts I realized being a Neet has its merits"...
But the anime has reached god levels of immersion. Best show ever.

I mean.. Even leaving aside previous painful deaths, suddenly realizing that time possibly continues past his death is just.. harsh. He would always think that he is the only one that has to suffer but he may have been passing that suffering around a lot. But it's becoming annoying by now. No more crying pls.
I like the witch dynamics. The fact that they've been watching him and have a familiarity with him even if he does not share it, it's pretty interesting to watch.
This would have been a terrible ending for a season but at least we know it's just the first half of the season. And now Subaru is gonna have to play Neo and save everyone xD But he has help and he never tried to split tasks.. And I guess the focus will shift from the trial to Garfiel. Subaru can't leave for the mansion but someone else can. Hopefully without getting assassinated ^^

Actually it probably would help if he didn't get a heart attack each time he tries to explain his circumstances... actually did Satella (or anyone else actually) ever explained to him why he cannot mention his Return by Death? Maybe it would break some time-space continuum...

This honestly pisses me off. He could always lie about having prophetic powers and back it up with knowing what will come to pass. He does something similar enough in the whale arc so it's not like he cannot trick the system.

You know, while I was fairly sure who had hired Elsa, it is still unclear who hired her the first time. It is possible that Roswaal knew that Emilia would lose her insignia from his gospel and hired Elsa to get it back. And Elsa just ended up killing Emilia because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. It is unclear how much the book tells him or whether Subaru coming to his mansion was already planned.
Ofc this is but a vague thought, it could have simply been another candidate that wanted to discredit Emilia. Or just some party that hated her.
Also if only Subaru and Ram give Roswaal hope.. No doubt getting Ram in his mansion was part of his plans too, as opposed to just being fond of her-. She must have a major role in the events to come.

Was feeling along these lines as well. Kinda up in the air until season 2. I'm starting to get disappointed by Subaru's character development. Too many turns in his path to the "final resolution". So he resolved himself to redo as many times as necessary, and now he values his life more, and the next thing he does is to grovel and cry... Not the greatest climax to the season to be honest.

I'm also a bit dissatisfied with him. There were a couple of moments throughout this season where I hoped he will get his s*it together but he kinda disappoints each time. Where's the cool and smartass hero from the end of season 1? In his defence I can only say that Spoiler I think he simply has no idea how to approach Roswaal. I mean the more he discovers about him, the more helpless he feels. Not only he turned out to be the one who kinda works against him since the begining. But, as I already mentioned, he's like this stalker who you can't actually isolate and can't exactly beat to death or sth (at least not with Subaru's power level). Guy seems to be obsessed with him and he is dangerous for all who Subaru holds dear End. Subaru actually might be in a pickle here. And let's not forget he is bomarded by revelations and conflicting emotions regulary. I still think, protagonist or not, the things he expieriences are more than able to break enough weaker minded man. But I agree, pls less crying and groveling, one Witch summed it up perfectly - stop reacting like a child.
I really hope he comes out stronger after this arc (or at leats he actually starts to use his assets more).

3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season, this anime is top rate. One of the best Slice of Life seinen series I've seen. It's got pacing down to a science. Story's actually solid. Character development and interactions are amazing. It's completely satisfying. Maaaaan... I need that 3rd season like right now!

Ok kicking this season off with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (2020) remake. To tell you the truth I didn't ever watch the original (I understand it's a classic at this point), yet I very much like the opening to the original. So I was very happy to hear it at the end of the first episode.

Going to return to One Piece. I stopped somewhere around chapter 830 or so. I am thinking on watching the anime instead of reading now. Just for a change.

Well, it's actually the main appeal of this anime: it looks like a cute slice of life, but is actually a dark horror/slasher with psyhotic loli laughs  The original was highly rated, iconic even. I'm very much interested if the remake is worthwile.

At first I only liked the song but grew to like the visual symbolism as I watched more of the series. I am curious to see the new opening.

I do that from time to time. While I prefer the mangas pace of telling the story, it's imo worthwhile to go back to anime and see how they managed to adapt a crucial moment. For instance the fight with Katakuri was godtier (as most of the big fights in the series). There are also some particulary good moments to watch in anime, those can awe you or even bring even a tear to your eye.
One Piece is actually my favorite shounen. It started back in the day when my only access to anime was through RTL2 channels anime block. Not to mention I learned "wurstisch" a bit thanks to it.
