Everything is political. Including research.
From a progressive standpoint, corporations pay for research that suits their goals.
This is true for promoting climate denialism.
But it is also true for promoting hormone blockers and sex change surgery.
Gender disphoria was classed as a mental disease not too long ago AFAIK.

Gender disphoria is a type of distress, not delusion, people who apply to surgery, do that because of the anxiety caused by it. And not all transgender people suffer from it but naturally it is quite common for a variety of reasons: Link.
So claiming being transgender itself is a mental delusion has got nothing to do with it, that’s like saying being a soldier is a mental delusion based on PTS syndrome.

I don't think transgenders coming out has anything to do with the fall of western civilization, but I do think their depression, and ultimately their suicide, are caused by the fall of western civilization. That's nonsense and counterproductive. The only way to become special is to have a talent then cultivate it, period. All the crap-talk coming from thoughtless and privilege pampered university professors, that you need a safe space to escape from microaggressions, that you have a right to avoid conflicts, this is the culture breeding the so called snowflakes, young and helpless people with skin to slim that they will sink into depression or even deeper as soon as somebody is mean to them. The world IS mean - learn to handle this aspect, draw your positive energy from your family, your friends and the people you admire. That will constitute an inscrutable border against mean comments and people.
As for being disowned by your family, it looks like we need to consider it case by case, I don't believe it as a systemic problem . If I was parent and my kid drops in the morning to inform me he will cut his anaconda, put bra and change his name, I would try to dig hard to see how serious it is, I wouldn't give in without concrete and irrefutable proof he was neither indoctrinated, forced, or does it because some infantile caprice. That could look brutal, but being parent is also that, harsh conflict between reason and feelings.
Or it looks like transgenders are so fragile, due to aforementioned problems, that they often confuse "ostracizing" with the prudence which should be considered as natural, both family and friends circle speaking.
So no, I don't consider their suicide as a result of mean comments, but as a result of their failed education.

But as Lith mentioned - I also belive it was "perfected" not created in USA becasue USA is a reflection of cultures, but with their own unique pompeous self-centerism (sorry fred but that's how it is). Worst thing is that USA intrudes it on others... their problems (systemic racism or gender politics) is now "our" problem.

That is bull. Everything you see comes from everyone hell-bent on making money and screw everything else. Oh, and of course the tendency of humans to prefer the easy way. It's the direct consequence of the combination of capitalism and growing wealth, more free time and an easier life.
Without constant "challenge" there is degeneration - like when you don't use a muscle, the muscle degenerates.
The less people are "used to" work the less they CAN (and want) work.
So what we currently see is degeneration at work in a capitalist world.

Well maybe USA doesn't literally force their culture on others, so sorry if you misundertood me, probably it's more like creations and mannersim plus some aspects of your culture and public affairs influences others, but a big part of the world is taking it in like a sponge unfortunately. I wouldn't care less, aside from American stuff I do enjoy (mostly nerd-related  ) but it does influence many things around me and I mostly can escape it even if I wanted to stay indifferent, becasue insert "we live in a society" meme here. You are not identyfing with this and I do think there are some nice aspects of USA as a country, people and culture (but it's becoming more of a disappointment in my case because there was a time when I was fascinated with USA). But the fact remains that the end result is the same: why not directy, whatever happens in USA socially, culturally or as far as a "worldview" goes it also touches many others...

Do you want to know about deaf sign language in international? USA wanted we use their ASL (American sign language). What? We sign our visual, creative, etc without dictionary. It worked well. But Artu, Neraus or some sign to an average American, they can't understand example of I love you. Use visual, creative, etc by genius. Yes we took American finder ABC, and we use international. It enough well. No more! Thanks. And in homeland we sign our owned language. Only Finland took ASL finder ABC, so we have the same. No more!
