To be honest, we can’t be certain. It’s possible the buildings are fully complete, and with a free camera, everything might look just as it should.

Bleh.
As for H7, I didn't play it enough to be able to tell.

Paul and Rob you mean?
While I generally agree with you on this I have a few remarks. Paul is a frikking composing genius and if he has the time, energy and passion to put into a project I'm sure he would nail it. I'm not so sure if conditions are met though. I think he is also best when he goes full classic music style (first Heroes games), but has departed quite a bit from it.
In any case, H7 has still in my opinion at least two tracks that are among the top of all their music, being Mystos Mountains and Hope For Green Falls. The Journeyman's Encounter was alright too.

Well actually H6 is probably my least favourite Heroes soundtrack. It had a great theme (which was poorly produced in my opinion as the final result is quite watered down in comparisson to what Paul Himself showed previously during the composing process https://youtu.be/q4Xj-oxkLCg?t=76) that should have been main theme or Haven theme but was strangely relegated to some kind of campaign moment. Besides that, Sanctuary was nice too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q5op1O44hs&list=PL34972F2CCC81A94C&index=3 but there was not much else going for it.
EDIT: just to be clear, Paul Romero still had a heavy hand in H6 soundtrack. In case not clear those themes I pointed out are his.
Whoever is composing though, please go back to the chill, background subtle music mixed with nature sounds of old for terrain music, H2 being the perfect example of it (unless you have a banger like H2 grass of course ).
But really just leave the more bombastic intense music for battles and towns, terrain music is what we will hear the most and needs to be really subtle to not become intrusive.

Ok so I get that you are actually speaking of the building layout not if the graphics are 3D or not.
Your thesis though is that unlike you have town built in 360º around a central building as in H5 you can't have it fully explorable?
I disagree with it but anyway there is a central building in all OE towns and they are built around it for the most part (Necropolist is very noticeable). Have a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgHLOBVKXqk

Yea, I meant Rob King and Paul Anthony Romero. I make that mistake often unless I spell out their full name.

I really liked the nature SFX on top of the soundtrack itself in Heroes 3, that was an amazing touch. But it's just easier nowadays to keep the score clean and just add those separate on the map depending on location, so I don't think we'll be seeing that again. But hopefully it'll be good on its own.
Also, wasn't Heroes 3 music actually pretty loud? I'm pretty sure most of it was. I wouldn't mind something more like Skyrim's adventure music in the background, but at the same time I don't want to be put to sleep by it. I like ASMR nature a lot, but that's not what I want from Heroes.

I hope it is not the case since it adds a lot to the theme and it sounds so much better when the music blends with it than the system you are referring too.

If you mean terrain music no I don't think so.
A couple of examples

They were more subtle in H2 though

Don't know about Skyrim but Oblivion has a really nice adventure music too, not too intrusive. I don't think examples from H2 or H3 are going to put you into sleep, there is still a lot of music going on there.

New devblog, focusing on competitive gamemodes. It's a good read and has a lot of insight into what the game's gonna feel like, so I'd check it out even if you're not interested in online play.
Another thing of interest in the article is a namedrop of the Thunder Qilin, which pretty much confirms Qilins as one of Sylvan's creatures. I think we've seen some Qilin-like creatures in the past as well.
I also noticed that the Black Knight/"Grim Reaper" creature we've seen in a few screenshots is guarding the entrance from a Jebus Cross desert. Since those are always guarded by tier 7 creatures, I think that confirms that Black Knights are Necro's tier 7.

Interesting that they're reimplementing the mechanic where troop speed impacts hero speed. I always had mixed feelings about that.

Quilin or what is that kelpy Deer thing may be in Sylvan no?
Yeah for me too its mixed for adventure map movement connected to unit speed so chaining will be important again. In H5-6-7 and now it seems in Silence of the Siren EA i can play now (we tried hot seat too) no matter just that its road or not or rough terrain or not.
But its not bad though just more care on chaining

Yep. Qilin is the Chinese name for Kirin, which were Sanctuary's tier 7.

One minor complaint but I really do hope that they change the way the heroes moves are marked.
The flowing green arrows in Older Era seem too game-y, compared to older arrows-on-map style...
(Just saw it in the screenshots in the devlog and it didn't really resonate well with me...)

i admire that they try to cater the various groups.
Chaining is necessary for the top but so boring from casual perspective. I think implementing a solo-hero mode caters a lot of casual players.
I hope they create a dual-hero mode with the same idea, but you can have 2 heroes. I think this would be more interesting because even it's only an extra hero, it might create so much more diversity in a game.

It makes sense but.. I don't care much for it. It just makes people not use slow units in creeping and using mule heroes for them if needed. I don't see a benefit to the gameplay.

Well from my understanding these options have more todo with the way that people play in competitive multiplayer which is mainly in one hero format or without hero restrictions, so they are having these modes for ranked mp. You could have the amount of heroes as an option but then not all templates would work in an optimal way for all possible configurations. Additionally they will keep two separate rankings, for one hero and non restricted modes. It wouldn't be practical to have one for all configurations.
For non-ranking games though that could be an option. If you are really interested in that, you guys have a chance to suggest it in their Discord, I feel like they are very open to suggestion for game modes specially when it come to multiplayer.

Yeah I don't think it is a great mechanich either, same as chaining. They seem to be embracing the way people play Heroes (mainly H3 and others based on it), with all its cheesiness and boardgamy aspects of it, which is perhaps not a bad way to explore.
One thing I don't understand from the last dev blog though is how they present these Remote Foothold as an alternative to chaining. These will just enable chains on a farther reach.

Closer look at Temple's tier 1 and 2 (plus upgrades).
I'm a big fan of the cute little lore bits. Detailed journal entries like V did are fine, but I find only having a few sentences leads to so much more character.
