my name regnus_khan originates from KotOR (knights of the old republic). I clicked random name and it gave Gadon Khan. I changed Gadon into Regnus and here's my name. Simple

It was the name of a RPG character I created. Actually it was the villain of the story(I was the GM). And I liked the name, so I kept it.
Before Athimus Phaeni, I used Sephroth(a small variation of Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII final boss), because in many sites/games, there was a limit of only 8 chars, so I shortened it.

This is kind of an old thread, but I got linked to hear from somewhere else, but decided to post it anyway.
The Sapphire part of my name is easy enough. My birthday is in September, making the sapphire my gemstone. I absolutely love them, of course it helps that my favorite color is blue. Even have them in my wedding ring
The Ravyn is a bit more complex. When I was in high school I was on the Speech & Drama team and one year (sophomore) I did a reading of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven". At about the same time, I became interested in Dungeons & Dragons and began playing the old paper and pencil form. My character was a elven warrior mage named, yep you guessed it "Raven".
The alternate spelling comes from being mistaken for a guy. Too many thought the name "Raven" either meant I was a Baltimore Ravens fan, or a fan of the wrestler Raven. Both kind of guyish sports so most thought I was a guy, soooo when I added the Sapphire to the Raven I changed the spelling to SapphireRavyn in an attempt to make it look more feminine. Doesn't seem to have worked though as I still get mistaken for a guy, sigh.

Mine is neither mithological, nor historical.
Actually is a common nick-name judging by it's significance.
BURCUSH is in fact a puppy dog. In some regions, here in Romania, that's how we call a puppy, regardless of its race or pedigree.
That's in fact my real nick nime in the day-to-day life, and that's how my friends call me.

My Chinese name is actually Chang Hsien-Zhong. In Mandarin, that would read Zhang Xian Zhong. The initials read ZXZ. I added another X to make my username look mysterious.

My name is from the Wheel Of Time books by Robert Jordan.
Asmodean was one of the 13 most evil wizards, called The Forsaken, who were locked away when the Dark One was sealed up way back in the Age Of Legends.
In the books the seals on the Dark One's prison are breaking, and the Forsaken are loose.
Asmodean was a famous musician before he turned evil, so he's the one I identify with, since I too am a musical genius

Svarog was a pagan Slavic god. He was the supreme diety, although not the most respected one, since he wasn't that involved in earthly affairs. (Just like me on HC. ) He was personification of the heaven, universe, divine light. He created the entire universe and was the "pre-father" of everything.
The origin of the word comes from Sanskrit (in the same branch of Indo-European languages), and means "saint", "pure". It's pronounced sv-a- (as in "cart") -r-o-g (as in "short").
I chose this name because:
1. It sounds powerful.
2. I'm "crazy" about mythology.
3. In remembrance of "The Times Long Forgotten" and certainly my ethnic origin (I'm Macedonian, or applying a wider concept of identification - a Slav). Many old pagan legends and customs still live among the peasants. And may it be so until the end of time.

Talking about funny names...
The other day I met a guy whose RL last name was Derkach. [read with a silent e] in Macedonian meaning a wanker.
And I've got a friend whose last name would tranlate as Pick-ass literally.
These guys... they better not think of extending the family line.
