Heroes 3 is still awsome no matter what! but i can't play H4 so i don't know what it is like. For now I am sticking with Heroes 3.5 which is the WoG Mod, wanna talk about a twist to heroes!!

IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
I've found at least one WoG player on HC!
What I can say - WoG rulez,
Especially that ERM scripting language!
2Everyone: Try WoG - it's really worthy! You can get it absolutely free at WoG's official site

homm3 is one of the best games ever made. I have never played homm4, but most of my friends tell me it sucks compared to three, and i agree from what i know about it.

What's wrong with H4?
It has
superb grafics
very nice sounds
good gameplay
The only thing bad is the lack of creatures and towns!

That's the problem. A lot of the strategy in heroes 3 was choosing what to build.
Ex: Do I choose to build mage guild level 5 and recruit all my creatures next week or do I upgrade to Titans and recruit almost nothing? hmmmm
There are choices in everything. That's what I like most about Heroes 3.

i like having 10 heros day 1 and not 2
i like heroes specialties!
i like town abillity to build up as i like/choose.
the homm3 is for me the best made game ever.
the homm4.. well hope i dont offend anyone, but thoose who play it must suck at homm3 or just had enuff of it! (not to blame)
i played homm4 for almost a week with friends hotseat and i must admit... it totally lack's the strategy view that homm3 has.

In WoG you can not only give a new twist to HMM3. You can make it a pure adventure or a pure RPG, leaving only the game interface unchanged.

I happen to like H4 better because of the layout, it is different in H3.

I can't say about heroes 4, but I think heroes 3 is pretty good, don't you think?
FYI, I have started playing H3 again after a long abscence from it (playing Diablo II, that's why).

HoMM3+WOG is way better than HoMM4. Just look at the "Wake of Gods" campaign. Or "The Samaritan". Could you ever possibly reach something like that in HoMM4? Unless they make something similar for H4.

That's what is so great about HOMM 4. The choices in HOMM 3 were just do I do buy something this week or next. In HOMM 4 you have to decide if you are going to build one building that prevents you from building another. You have to decide which troops are more important for example golems or mages. You can't have both unless you get two castles and if you split buildings of two castles you may not get enough creatures of either. The choices are much harder and take more consideration of the strategy of your gameplay.

But you have to agree that if you don't buy a game you won't be able to install a fix patches to it it.
I think this incompletedness can be ignored while you have LOTS of scens to play, a multiplayer patch and a whole scripting system that you can study while waiting for some bugfixes. Heroes 4 is really a good game, good game deserves waiting.

10 heroes... And I like fighting neutral heroes in WoG...
Hey, this isn't a joke! You CAN fight a neutral hero in HMM3.5: In the Wake of Gods!

Bad sides
No different paths to take when building towns (except choosing what creatures you want). But if that really is a problem then you better go and play some Sims. I mean there are really lots of alternative paths to take and things you can include into your castle (doll house).
No hero specialties. Yes, bad thing, but at least you people can now really lose without element of luck included (in such scales as before).
AI, of course it is bad. It was already worse in Heroes 3 than in Heroes 2. NWC have to keep development going.
No chaining. Sadly this masters' tool has really gone. But it really was a bug. A design bug. Sure, it was a realistic and a really innovative part of strategy that heroes were able to carry dozens of Behemoths on horseback.
No random map generator. Random Maps
Good sides.
Suberb graphics. Especially trees are much better.
Suberb Map Editor.
Suberb music.
More strategy.
Different paths to take when building cities. Do I take Magi or Gold Golems this time? What my opponent has?
Better spell system.
Buy All button in towns.
Hit and run is not so effective anymore.
Better skill system.
Feels fresh (unlike Heroes 3 which smells fresh like 3 months old fish).
Neutral heroes and creatures can wander and even attack cities.
Sea creatures can attack on the dry land.
Better RPG capabilities thanks to scripting.
More humour like in Heroes 2.
More than one (two) hero(es) can join the battle.
The way heroes die, capture and are freed.
The way players are saying that heroes are too powerful while others say they are too weak.
The way most of the people who don't like it know little or nothing about Heroes 4.
No chaining.
Creatures can move without heroes on adventure map.
Much more.

One more sad loss: no more log in battle. That's bad! Sometimes I feel like it was much better with it. Especially in big massacres where you have to find which creature was hit before the text vanishes.
Humour? You mean Maranthea's Mug and Mullich's Helm of Leadership? I don't like that. They could invent something more interesting.
Superb Map Editor? You aren't able to view the hints for objects/creatures/arts/... That's a big loss I think, In heroes 3 it was better, although creating new palettes is superb no doubt.
