Is it like in LotR but vice-versa?
Hmm... a monster... Let's call it Enchanter.
It's a shooting man with a dark-brown coat and NO beard, not like in H3...
But it works like Enchanter from H3. Every round he can cast Mass Bless/Haste on the allies, Mass Curse on the enemies or Energetic Shield on all the allied heroes (it's a new spell that reduces damage from direct damage spells and ranged attacks by 25%). He can also shoot with his bow. It's a level 3 monster, and neutral of course.
A new hero class... hmm... Zealot - combined Combat and Chaos Magic, so it's replacing the Fireguard - every round casts Fire Bolt on a random chosen enemy, without your control, but when his turn comes he can still cast the spell you want. That should be cool...

Umm... Zealot and Enchanter have absolutely too powerful powers in exchange for nothing. Unbalanced creatures.

Okay then, let's make it cause fixed damage (e.g. 100 HP) or only casting the spell at the start of the combat... And for Enchanter, he can be made non-shooting (and with very weak melee, only supporting the army with spells) and expensive.

they should have the legendary Shadow Dragon. Level 5 Chaos Creature. No dwelling, hostile creature. GM Stealth ability on the adventure map. Spellcaster, with armageddon . Magic immunity .Multi Hex attack, or attack adjacent enemies simultaneously (Hydra). Fly. No retaliation. Insubstantial.
HP: 200
MP: 36 (Cast 3 times)
DMG:55-105
Happy trying to kill it in stacks. Insubstantial+magic immunity ha HA HA.
Ultimate creature. Fighting more than three is a nightmare.

Our answer to the Shadow Dragon
Shadow Fighter (level 4, life)
Hit Points: 185
Magic Points: 40
Damage: 40-55
Special abilities
1. Spellcaster: Holy Shout, Necromancy Ward, Banish, Exorcism.
2. Holiness: receives only 75% damage from death creatures, illusions and insubstantial creatures; has 50% chance to cause double damage to them, and immune to all death spells.
3. Protector: all friendly creatures receive +2 morale and +10% damage against death creatures, illusions and insubstantial creatures.
In combat looks like something between Crusader and Angel

I would choose an animal as a hero
An elefant would be nice for a change
Of course he or she wouldn't be able to ride on a horse but they are overrated anyway.
And I would have trample as a special ability but of course he would have more difficulty trudging through swamps
I don't know about hitpoints and such I'm not so familiar with the technical side of the game.

Priest
I'm not familiar with HOMM4, so someone will have to assign it to the appropriate "place."
Att: 0
Def: 15
HP: 25
Cost: 2500
* Morale always +1 or better.
* Luck always +1 or better.
* Casts mass Bless at beginning of battle. # rounds = highest Hero's level.
* Doesn't attack, retaliate, or move on battlefield.
* Any damage suffered to Priest unit(s) is transferred to stack with most HP remaining.
* If Undead attack Priest, damage is only 25% (then distributed).
* Casts Heal to one stack at end of each round.
* Adding more Priests increases effect of Heal.
* If 10 Priests in a stack, mass Prayer (is that spell in HOMM4?) is cast at round 5 of battle.
Feel free to modify as necessary. I think a non-combat creature similar to this would be cool.

Hmm... You do realise that a creature with defence 0 is dead as soon as it is dealt damage. Division with 0 tends to yield inifinity as a result.
Attack 0 will mean that the creature stack will deal 0 damage, but I'm sure the AI is nice and makes this 1 damage instead.

priest sucks.
A cool creature would be:
Fury (level3, life)
damage:12-24
Hp: 70
melee: 25
me. def.: 30
ra. def: 30
combat movement: unlimited
abilities:
-flier
-wrath of the fury: at the fury's first turn you select an enemy, she will fly over to her opponent and strike it. If the opposing stack decides to move, the fury will automatically follow it and strike it again. The fury cannot chose another enemy at her following turns as long as the enemy is not dead. On her turn she will only attack the stack again. Disabling spells cast on the fury will keep her from following her victim. Dispel/exorcism cast on her enemy will free her from her wrath, she will have to select a new one.

Well, while we're nitpicking, that isn't true. Division by 0 is undefined. lim x->0 a/x -> infinity
