no thats not it at all & believe me I get tired of helping too but I am saying that everyone deserves a chance & it's not fair that they get shut out just because you had the time to practice & judge who is worthy 7 who is not like you are a Ves.
Dont get me wrong I know all you did in your volunteer & regardless of my anger from yesterdays reply I think you do an outstanding job but only problem is you dont care & it's like you have a right to treat others mean because you got so much reckognition.
I think you are unfair when it comes to favortism.

i dont know, is that so hard to understand? helping noobs i can do without a tourney...
is there noone that wants that too besides me, schaaf and 888?
I completely understand that, but that isn't going to happen until we get some more active players.

Destro, well spoken, beautifully put. I agree 100%
It may be a failing of mine as well, but I dont want to help newbies either. I am in a comfort zone with heroes3, playing about 5 people I know and trust. I am happy with this. I seriously doubt I will play anyone I have never played. If the people I play stop playing, I will stop playing and play something else. As for tourneys, apart from the occaisional bastards game, I am really not interested.

If you look at heroes 3 in its toh history, it was always growing.. everyone played everyone and when people would go, new faces would appear and the game kept going...
Then with recent seasons people started playing only people they knew, when someone left from that group - it was felt more deeply than before.
Now we have some of the die-hard Heroes3 players wanting that old way back, but are not willing to accept the new players? If that's the case , then the wheels of Heroes3 will grind to a halt.
So many vets have moved on.. they won't suddenly feel this strange calling back to H3 out of nowhere. I still enjoy a game of H3 - but it doesn't grab me like H4 does, it doesn't present to me the same endless possibilities as i see with H4 and I'm afrid I won't hear the calling back to H3, except for the occaisional fun one.
The only way i can see is as i said to help the newbies get up to the calibur of game you guys are missing...
Bobntamr1, thank you for your kind words, and best of luck to you!

I know what you are saying dear, and the failing is mine, but i just cant do it. When a game is 4yrs old, you just want finding a game to be easy. When i play andi or midnight, you or Yawacko, the rules are clear, we know what things we do and dont do in a game. We know what templates we restart on , and if we have a bad start or a bad fight, we load the auto. this is what I like about playing heroes3 now. i guess in part, it is because I have accepted the demise of it, and am just playing the people I enjoy for fun.

That wasn't actually directed at you It was at those who want to revive the way it was, you're not saying that at all, you're just an old man, playing an old game with his old buddies , and that suits you just fine

Actually i think Panīs idea is kinda excellent, because some people here say that "they wanna keep heroes3 alive". Well think about it, what do you need to keep it alive? exactly, you need players...many players.
So how do we get many players then? well, we try and get all the vets in instead of fighting and we bring in some new fresh ones.
So how are we going to get those n00bs to stay then? well personally id say that Panīs idea of this is excellent. Vets training the n00bs, that way they will not be playing ppl that leaves beginning at game and then switches to Warcraft 3 or whatever as destro mentioned earlier. And they will also learn alot about the game and become better and better fast enough, which is another reason for them to stay.
So what will we get out from this then? Hopefully a great tournament...the only thing i think would be better than basic idea though is trying to make this an allied bracketed tournament instead...which might need certain rules or something but it would be nice to see master/pupil fighting side by side when it really comes down to it.
And, we will have more players that hopefully are honorable concidering they hopefully have learned the value of being honorable from the vets.
So what will this take to work then? dedication from the people that wanna keep heroes3 alive, without any vets willing to help there wont be any tournament either. Its as simple as that really.
Feel free to add some opinions on this, these are my ideas. Im sure they can be improved though.
/Stefan (Who just put in his 2cents to try and keep heroes3 alive...)
EDIT: Oh and btw, since i obviously have no vet icons..does that mean i can be one of the "pupils" too?

Training Aint So Bad
Excellent Post Pandora, I Couldn't Agree More
Why not train the noobs?, I personaly have been training noobs from god knows when and I have had much appreciation from it too, I really do enjoy it too (Am I nuts)? NO, I actually have fun training.
But seriously, Think about it, those noobs can become just as good as you IF not better if only shown how.
I hear alot about I would like a challenge, whats better than the Master vrs the Student?
Well I seriously doubt that many Vets will come back unless there are challenging players in the zone, lets make some good players and be proud of their acheivments
P.S. I also understand that training takes up time but think of the potential challenges after they have learnt all the **Tricks** of the game and are ready to take on the best! give it a thought guys/gals
Maybe each Noob could then train another noob as a thankyou for your time training them, the potential is fantastic I'd bet that the Heroes 3 Lobby would fill within a few months with all new masters of the game.

Quote: i do a lot for h3 unlike you aculias trash talker, i tried to get that edited rdm map tourney going (was quiet a success until closure.
Andi, If you want this tournament open again all you would have to do is ask, I could open it and run it just a suggestion tho, because I know how you feel about Myths.
OK I am going to say this one last time, If you guys have ideas please email them to Raven or I. Set the tourney rules up and the basics we will look over them, and then her and I can decide what is right!
I have been putting some serious thought into the ranks of Myths Toh, and yes I agree a reset Might be best BUT i really don't think you guys ubderstand Raven and I point of veiw. Our players who have stuck with us through EVERYTHING, souldn't have there ranks reset because of a few cut throats tossing a crying.
And Motor this is dricected ONLY to you.
You really upset me saying that the word "myths" is what is killing H3 play thats just BULL, yeah so the name Myths is there but if you look really close to Myths it is just a clone of ToH season 3. I will NEVER give up the name Myths, If you can't understand that I am sorry, Myths of Camelot was MY baby, and the name Myths is all I have left of it. I am quite sure Ves would agree if someone asked him to change ToH's name he would tell them where to shove it.
Anyways, Like I said keep the good ideas comming, and keep your eyes peeled for new Ideas, and ppsstt I am getting some input from Motor on a tournament I think Vets will like.

My Idea for the Answer
This was the email I wrote to the ToH H3 coordinators JUST NOW:
"I kept thinking about this revival thing, about having h3 with a well focused subtourney. Well, Lords has been left unrealized, and essentially never tapped its potential. It was created almost 3 years ago, but to this day, each time I look at it, I cannot believe I managed to make such a mammoth thing. Anyways, Lords may be the answer.
However, it will require a lot of manpower, and the maps might need to be modified by hardcore mapmakers first, but tour through it guys, http://www.toheroes.com/lords/lords.html Even with clans and divisions, this tourney was my #1 baby. With a little tweaking of the maps, everything else down to the rules is perfected even for this now 4 year old veteran community.
Best of all, its primed and ready to go....."
Anyways guys, if you want me to dip back into a homm3 tourney, I will for this one. It is addictive, and has the principles of heavy competition. The only thing it needs modification is tweaking of the maps; just FYI, I created 35/40 of those maps, in a period of 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!
Also Ironically, half the avatars you see floating around in Heroes Community originated from lords (I screencaptured & edited them from Might & Magic VI/VII, and from movies like conan the barbarian, excalibur, merlin, and so on, and when lords shut down I donated those headshots to Valera, head of HeroesCommunity for use here

essentially the whole tourney was created in two weeks, all inspired by a dream I had. If there is enough push for me to make a go on it, we will need to have all the maps reviewed and redone, then I will have the pages primed, ready and reset for a fresh new Lords. The membership limit will be 128 players, but I think we wont have to worry about it filling all the way up & having waitlist as it did that season III.

I just spent about an hour looking through all of the material for the Lords of Erathia tournament and I find it very interesting and much to my liking. I have been struggling with how to set up a balanced clan season that will be palatable to most. And not had a lot of luck. It is also my thought that with the current level of activity running a high activity tournament like Clans would be difficult. Lords, although not any less work, is simpler to add players to as we pick them up, as it is not team based. For me it has the added bonus of being finished, tried, tested and accepted. I have sent Ves an email telling him of my willingness to take this over, if he is willing to take me under his wing during set up and initial play start as I know his focus is on HoMM 4. So basically what I think we need now are some volunteers to do some map testing / tweaking. This is something I am not really qualified to do as I do not have much experience with making maps but I am sure there are some nice vets out there that are willing to help us out to get this thing going! Aren't there?

Why sure! If you know your way around the map editor at all, and I am sure most of you Vets do, you can send Ves an email (as he is coordinating) letting him know that you are interested in helping. I know he will need help checking the maps and being sure they are balanced the way he wants them. This is explanation that only he can give as this is his vision. He is also the only one that actually has the maps, hehe. I hope we can get some true volunteers here as I think this would be a fun healthy tournament to get going.

I am 1000% interested in competiing in the lords tourney..
One thing I'd mention though.. I've looked at those maps many many times.. and although modifications may be needed we need to keep both the originality and the feel of these maps. The ones I've played/looked at are very very.. not ordinary.
And I hope none that will edit the maps will want to set up a "comfort" zone with them.
I'd love to help, but as I am finding time for 1-2 games per week which need to be split between H3 and H4 for now, and looking over 1 map at the most for H4 map cpuncil(which I am not sure I am even part of anymore.) I should offer since chances are I won't be able to.
Pandora, I also think your vets training is a great idea.. I was an extreme capitol building, best player in the world, 2 heroes, exp from chests player when season 3 was 3 months in.. I played loads and loads of vets though, and even more 2o2's with Vets, and gradually learned.. I am still no pro at this game.. but I no push over either.
Phantom1500 whalloped me hard core in the first round of the original TC tourney, while Krezantees??? maybe that was him would not let me register for KoR.. and so I played many mnay games vs Phantom learning loads from his chats and stuff.
And one thing that keeps a person playing more than anything is Getting Better each time you load it uP!

I think I saw that in the old Myths where New players can apply to be trained by volunteers to get better 7 i think even Attila was one of the trainees a yr ago .
Mayhaps we can have some vet volunteers who care about giving our new comers a chance if they dont want to learn thier own skills like I have.
I am willing to help in that or anythang else if you trust me enough
