- this can prove quite tricky, since there´s always a risk you misjudge you timing (note that other shooters are not forced to take this risk)

- although i haven´t been playing inferno much (for now) it seems to me that efficiency of it depends mainly on how well you use the pit lord specialty - and this is where problems arise, since this specialty does not work like like resurrection (or animate dead) - the thing is you have to actually get one of your stacks totally killed (wiped out) in order to rise them as demons - and this regulary proves the most difficult thing requiring perfect timing as well as strategy (and it complicates things no matter what) - another thing (other than they´re expensive) is that they die off too easily, with only 45hp

Agreed
It's true, just how good each town is depends on the player. some people are good at castle, others, rampart, others, such as me, inferno, and so on. its all in your opinion and skill. totally variable.

You got me I hate INferno from the creatures to the music but I think that Fortress is the most under-rated town in the game also Tower

I really love
Azure and fairy dragons.... But the rust dragons are cool too!
I really love the Black Vain Dragons! I didn't know they were so vain.. Now i can give them a story of giving them 2 heads...

... the coolest are black dragons in my opinion (gotta love those 300 hp) - but my favourite is rampart so i love the gold ones...

Finally some kind words about Inferno. I totally agree with targon. Those demons can be just as deadly as the Necropolis skeletons. It requires patience, skill and sometimes a bit of luck though.
One more thing that is great with Inferno is their ability to resist armageddon. Not to mention their ability to throw armageddon...

How many dragons?
The red and blacks are exactly the same as green and golds.
Both are versions of the upgraded ones.
Essentially, to like one dragon is to like them all.
Funny how no one mentioned Ghost Dragons. The one great ability that these creatures have over Blacks and Golds is that they can be RESURRECTED. I've had my blacks killed many times over by a player who animates his Ghosts and I would have to admit that these creatures scare me witless. I will never underestimate a Ghost Dragon for this reason.
And where the hell did all those other creatures come from? I'd love to know what the hell a Scylla is, you must be reading stuff from AD&D Monster Guide, LOL.
By the way, I'd like to see Superman versus the Incredible Hulk. And Spider Man take on Spawn!

Inferno&Fortress
Inferno... my favorite town of all. The thing about Inferno is that it can force your opponent to make very hard choices in the first round of battle, and if they choose wrong, or even if you take advantage in the right way of whatever choice they made, then you can win with Inferno.
Usually opponent wants to kill in this order- Efreet, Devils, Pit Lords, Magogs, Cerbei, Demons...
Yet most first round times of battle opponent can only kill 2 of those 6. So, efreet punish everything except shooters with fire shield, devils weak on ganged up, but 2nd fastest after Angels makes them wait units, Cerbei are also wait units and kill shooters and guards, demons good 1st strike unit, Familiars also nice first strike early on before they get killed and Pits make more demons. Pit Lords themselves adequete units if they are never used to 1st strike- protect them more than anything except devils.
Fortress, interesting to play- but only Mighties make it a town that can stand up to anything.However, that said; Mightyies make it stand up to alot. I have used the 20 some mighty you can get on DW to take Utopia Week 2, just add in some units you don't mind dying(any joined or useless units from 2nd town) and let the guards kill them, they almost always leave Mighty alone, and if you haste them, they will move before red and green dragons. Hydra's also nice in Treasuries and Crypts or fighting on shipwrecks. Basilisk nice to get in week 1 expansion armies. Wyverns only useful upgraded and in larger number preferably, but poisened units trying to siege a fortress die quick. Flies nice for scouts and as reserve unit in battles. Warriors... useful only in the sense you don't mind they get slaughtered week 1. Gnolls... if you can preserve their #'s till the final battle and use marauders, they are good, otherwise not very good.
Best combination in game to me is horde of mighty and jeddite or something like that. It's fun anyway, many things to stop it, but mighty still dangerous to everything except Necro, but if you are facing Necro, then go after utopias very early, doesn't matter if you lose a few, you need the artifacts and gold to attack Necro early before necro gets upgrades and spells.

Hmm. While Imps deal a good amount of damage for their cost, a consideration of factors besides damage will show that hthey just aren't worth it.

Gogs are better than most people think, but Magogs aren't worth it. By round 2-3 all enemy creaures will be next to something of yours, like it or not.

I'll give you this one. Cerberi are far and away th best level 3.

Yeah, Demons are cheap, but they're also weak. They have a better BFB than compaable units, though.

Maybe it's just me, but the resurrect special never seems to get more thn a few Demons, definitely not enough to be decisive excpt in a very close battle.

Hmm, but they aren't really top-shelf lev sixes. Naga, Black Knight, and Cavalier will beat them, and Uniorn will beat them most of the time. An average unit.

200 hp is 200 hp, no matter how you cut it. Thy're better than most peol think, but they still are far from the best level 7.

I do like dungeon, castle and rampart, but their values have sort of spiraled out of control. they arent exactly oodles better than the others. Stronghold, i dont really like, but i know its possible, just like all the other towns, in the right hands. fortress, hmm, i havent really gotten into fortress much. its okay. necropolis's units have cool side effects and can do good damage, but i still prefer inferno. watch everyone bombard me with flames about how badly inferno sucks once i post this. oh well, i dont really mind being the minority. we all have our own opinions.

oh yeah, my favorite dragon is the gold dragon.

Inferno has the fewest HP available per week of any town, and pays the most per HP. Did I mention that it has 1 shooter and has to wait 'til level 6 to get a flier?
