Enough is enough...
While looking through the library I found this little gem of a post by Conn (Whom I like by the way) that I find rather offensive.

"Rules to be followed when posting in the library
Main rules to follow when posting the library:
1.Post on topic.
This is not a spam forum, just as the whole of HC is not a spam board.
2. No linking to warez, cracks, etc.
If you absolutely must talk about that use other means of communication. IMs, Yahoo Messanger, ICQ, etc… I hope I don’t even need to tell you not to post links to/or porn.
Porn- no pictures, links to pictures, movies, novels, etc. If it is absoultely neccesary, you can give a HINT about what you’re saying. Just use your head.
Warez, cracks, etc- No links, no "Get this games in 3 easy steps" threads or posts. Also, no disscusions about this subject are allowed.
3.Don’t be an ass.
Flaming is not appreciated by anyone, and will make the moderators extremly unhappy. And trust me, you don’t want unhappy moderators. Flaming will be severly punished. It can even lead to banning of the transgressing member.
4. Make sure that you post in a sensible manner.
EXAMPLES PROVIDED FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY
Example A: "I think that (creature name) is better than (creature name)." = FINE.
Example B: "I think that (creature name) is better than (creature name) because that creature sucks." = BAD
Example C: "I think (hero class) is the best class in the game ." = FINE.
Example D: "I think (hero class) really sucks, and I won’t even consider this ( generic swear) class." = REALLY BAD.
5. No personal attacks and name-calling.
If you have a strong disagreement with someone, that's all it is. Don't take it to the next stage of "vendetta-hood".
6. Make an attempt to start threads worthy of this forum's users' time.
You'd better give everyone some starter material for the discussion.
EXAMPLES PROVIDED FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY
Example A: "What do you think of this (creature, hero, tactic, etc)? I hate it." = LAME
Example B: " What do you think of this (creature, hero, tactic, etc)? I think that this (creature, hero, tactic, etc) is better, because it has many advantages, like speed, better defense, etc. " = FINE.
Important.
You are resbonsible for what you post. You are not anonymous when you post. Remeber that.
Also, you must know that the moderators have ways of finding out who you are, even if you’re using another account. (Which, btw, is highly discouraged)
VERY IMPORTANT:
None of these rules are negociable. They just are, and everyone who posts here must be carefull not to break them. They may be modified at any later time, if the situation arises that demands their modification and/or adding any other rules.

This rules have been taken from another message board, and modified to suit the needs of HC. "

Why do I find this offensive?
1. Posting on topic-fine but sometimes ideas can go on a tangent and make a thread very interesting even if it deviates from the originanl topic.
2.That's actually covered in the FAQ rules so doesn't need to be added in supplemental rules.
3.If I want to be an ass by God I will be an ass and it is none of the moderators business unless I break the rules in the FAQ.
4.Make sure I post in a sensible manner--I will post in whatever manner I see fit. How dare you tell me how I should express my thoughts. Shame on you
for writing this.
5. I will attack anyone whom I feel desevres being attacked as long as it fits within the FAQ/rules about swearing etc. If someone expresses an idea I disagree with I will argue the point, and I expect them to argue back, that is called a dialogue. If I only talked to people who agreed with me it would be aweful boring.
6. People start threads about things that interest them, if the thread is not worth the reader's time they will soon just pass it by, and it will die a natural death in the bottom pages of the forum. Who will decide whoms time is wasted?
All of this seems to be mods taking themselves a little too seriously. Mods should be rarely seen or heard, their responsibilities should be to make things flow better. Their job is not to DICTATE content of poster's thoughts.
(I bring this to the Tavern because not many people wouldn't see it if it stayed in the library)

I considered making a similar thread, then decided not to. Becuz, if I was the author of this thread I would have been flamed by this bright moderator-for posting negativity or tossing@mods.
Now we see who the real tosser is

My favorite is the following: "If it is absoultely neccesary, you can give a HINT about what you’re saying. Just use your head." Using our head means behaving the way we want, while still being smart enough not to let the other people know.
That post redefines the whole purpose of moderation. And it was written by a rookie...! What is he up to next? I feel sorry for him though; he must have spent a lot of time on that.

lol people are you surprised? Im surely not...a guy that marrys someone for the net and is a happily married god-slayer than alrdy is lost in not knowing anymore what is real and what is the internet...there are such cases, you see that every day.
Now if i make such a person a mod he tries to make himself finally important (he thinks at least) and the result is what you see here...
Congrats conn, the only thing you have reached is that noone takes you seious now anymore, this is all for fun you know?
IF i toss someone he knows i dont mean it serious (you do right???) but your post is different...you REALLY wanna educate us here, and i can only say: grow up yerself

Well, since we're posting rules for posting, here are mine:
1. Agree with Bort.
Examples:
"Bort is correct" Good!
"Bort is incorrect" Bad!
2. Say nice things about Bort.
Examples:
"Bort is super" Good!
"Bort is a twit" Bad!
"Bort had a guy killed" Bad!
"Bort's appearance would be comically ugly if it weren't for the fact that it gives children nightmares" Bad!
3. Do not mock the fact that Bort refers to Bort in the third person. Bort doesn't like that.
4. If you know where Bort's girlfriend was last night, please tell Bort.

my 2 cents...
OT as I respect your opinion, I am not going to disagree. I dont think that many people read these things unless they are hard core community members anyways. Why if they are going to say these things, don't they keep them in action? I dont have a beef with mods, and am one of the impartial party =O).

And now, ON TOPIC:
The mods here really need to loosen a bit up, before you all turn into megalomaniacs and control freaks. View the intention behind a post rather than the exact words or phrases used. Oldtimer is as right as he could be. If every new mod is going to try to revolutionize HC by interpreting the FAQ/rules in his or hers very personal way, we're all gonna have to hope Val stops naming them.

I was thinking though, what the hell. There are actually people smart enough to do direct offensive insults and not use a single generic swear word. One example can be, as we all know, *whisper* DM... but can't we all just cut all the insulting and all that? Geez, I know things can get a bit high strung, and not everybody has the same way of thinking, but, hell, respec! *pounds fist over left torso*
