Best Music Theme
What do you think is the BEST music theme in any of the homm series? My personal favourite is the Castle theme from H3... full of life!!!

Note -- everything below is IMHO
You must be joking. Tower theme isn't boring at all, though it isn't my favourite. Castle theme is for sure the most boring. It is even worse (...much worse!) in H4.
I personally like the music from HoMM2, though I've heard only the MIDI variants and a few MP3 tracks. First of all (I've said that many times) HOMM2 MIDI Swamp Theme RULEZ, it's my favourite music (not only in Heroes I mean). From among the towns, HOMM2 MIDI Warlock Theme rulez too. Almost the same could be said about HOMM2 MIDI Wizard/Barbarian theme, Necro theme and even the Knight theme (much better than in H3 & H4). Most of the HOMM2 MIDI terrain themes rock too (Dirt... Desert... Lava...), and the HOMM2 MIDI Combat Theme #1 is the best combat music from all the series that I've heard. MP3 Sorceress theme is very cool.
Now moving to Heroes III. Here, most music is good, but it didn't impress me as much as the HOMM2 MIDI music. From the town themes, many are good: I must agree about Inferno (perhaps my favourite), Fortress; Stronghold is good too. Tower, Dungeon and Conflux themes are rather cool, while I don't like others much. Some of terrain themes are good too: Dirt, Rough, Subterranean for example. But IMHO, the best Heroes III music lies among those pretty short Campaign themes, which we hear soooo rarely. I especially like Good, Evil and Neutral themes, Armageddon's Blade campaign theme and several of the "Campaign Theme NN" tracks.
Heroes IV music disappointed me a lot. By now, from the town themes I only like Death, Chaos and Nature (but even these are much worse than some of the HOMM3 town themes). From the terrain themes -- Snow and Swamp rock, others suck pretty much. The main menu theme (yes, in TGS too) is quite cool, dunno why many people dislike it.
I'm now waiting for the Winds of War soundtrack; hope that Rob King & Co. will return to their HOMM2 masterpieces and write a good soundtrack for Heroes. If they will succeed, it will return me to HOMM4 gaming, probably for a longer time than before.

i like the rampart theme from homm2 alltho it wasent called rampart back then but the town with grandelves anyways i dont remeber the actual theme i just remeber it beeing very calm and nice, but i think it was somekind of opera or similar.

Mixed opinion, no surprise there then!
Hi all
That’s a great question and a difficult reply. I shall be complicated and controversial.
I have always had a place in my heart for the old Warlock tune in HOMM2 the chirpy and at the same time atmospheric notes really emphasise the power and majesty of the creatures and the fantastic designs.
But my new favourite music.. and spectacular thanks to 3DO for amazing musical prowess. Goes for the “sailing music in HOMM4”. It really takes the prize.
Please, I don’t know if this exhibits a lack of etiquette but are there any 3DO designers amongst our community who know who invented that music. They really should be commended for that composition. It really encompasses the whole feel of the environment. Enhances the enjoyment (and actually even sometimes motivates me to up and away on a ship). Its that good.
So full marks to who ever.. If anyone knows who it is, I could bestow a shining praise on some lucky individual who seriously needs some good old fashioned applaud.

My absolute fovourite must be HOMM III Dirt theme, or the Win Scenario theme. The Conflux theme is good too, but too short. Tower theme isn't boring, just the longest theme.
