Certainly ghost dragons almost have twice as more hp than dread knights and all stats higher. Double damage attack don't help. But they are very close to level 7

There are always many factors to take into account when comparing who is the strongest. I always hated the AAs and always liked heroes IV for the same price of creatures thus somewhat equal effectiveness for all of them. AAs are not the most expensive for nothing, if you compare most of the spells, the possibility to split into stacks I think they are the best.
Biggest factor that solves battles in H3, specially when you are low on spells is first attack, therefore AAs are the best.
So while others get their turn angels can do double damage or get resurrected by the clone.
Nice tactic I would agree on is devils and titans with force field (we must use the one hex size on battlefield, for devil only against slower units)
I actually don't have favorite but I like BD, GoldD, Behemoth, GhostD(very nice with splitting but also very very weak not even dread knights can make up for them but on the other hand they got friends such as zombies and wights).

Here you are right but you forget about Phoenixes.

Why are you comparing an upgraded lvl. 7 with a non-upgraded?

I would enter into a game mechanical discussion, explaining why I like Dread Knights better, which would have firm foundations in creature growth and cost analysis, but that wasn't what I claimed in my original post.
I claimed Dread Knights are far cooler than the Ghost Dragons. Cool as in giving you the pure satisfaction of using them. The Ghost Dragon's aging ability may be very good mechanics-wise. But it never gives me the same satisfaction as when I hear and see the animation of double damage for the Dread Knights. With Dread Knights, you *feel* you are safe. Of course, such preferences are strictly individual, and you might not have the same ranking yourself. It's a matter of taste really. And since the thread was asking my favourite creature and not the "pwnest", I chose the Dread Knight.
As for game mechanics, of course the Knights are worse than Ghost Dragons, but hey, just compare their prices. It would be unfair if the Ghost Dragon got its... hmm... pelvic bones handed by the Dread Knight, now wouldn't it?

So your position like mine.
Ghosts dragons sucks in comparing with other lv 7.
Dread knights rules in comparing with other lv 6.
But you can't compare GD and DK. GD is definetely better.

Exactly.
And it also depends on which part of the game we are talking about. Usually, my decisive battles take place when I have a formidable stack of Dread Knights, but a smaller one of Ghost Dragons. The Ghost Dragons - when sent into the enemy lines - are picked upon more, since their retaliation damage is lower than the marginal benefit it would give my opponent to strike my dragons, whereas my opponent would never willingly engage my DK stack by direct melee attacks, since it would mean just giving my most powerful stack another action that turn.
This effect is cumulative: They always try to kill my less numerous Ghost Dragons instead of my Dread Knights, and in the end, I end up with a much bigger stack of DKs than GDs. Since I start producing the DKs earlier than GDs, because of their higher growth rate, and because of this adverse selection in combat this is my percieved result in most of the games. The GDs might be theoretically better, but in real games, I rarely have that many Ghost Dragons, leaving me with the impression that they are utterly useless. They are of course useful, but not in the decisive part of my games.

If you find them to be utterly useless try the same battle without them

I only started playing this game for about a month ago, but I have already developed a fondness for the Sharpshooters. I like their pace and the damage they deal without range penalties.

Got alot of favorites.
Vampire lords, power liches and dread nights are all cool! I mean when just thinking of looks and not effectiveness, the dread knight is badass! Good job 3D0! Power liches also are cool. They look so evil. Vampires are quite ugly, but that's ok...
Liked lizard warriors before, with their eyes, although not that much anymore.
Sharpshooters deal so much damage! Love the elixir of life campaign.
Do not like black dragons. they are boring.
Mighty gorgons and chaos hydras are cool.

I would definetly say that Dread Knight is my favourite creature...With greatest attack and defence among lvl6 and one of the best specials in the game...When in Tamika they kick some a**
And I have around 5-6 secondary favourites..like most Fortress and Stronghold creatures
Btw does anybody know if there is a mod for heroes 3 WOG that dread knigths are lvl7 not lvl6 with ?
