Woot! I've been wogified! Great stuff. My wife and I played a few rounds yesterday. The only thing is her commander was a medusa type and casted precision. When it was the commanders turn she held cursor over a char but the spell didn't show so she could never cast precision. Anyone know what the deal was there?

It won't show which spell is about to be cast, but if you get the animated spell book cursor, and click on a stack, the Commander will cast its spell (in this case, Precision).
Also, Commanders can only cast a limited number of spells per combat, depending on their Magic Power level. To start with, that means just one spell per combat.
If the Commander hadn't cast her spell yet, and the "cast spell" icon wasn't showing up, the only reasons for that I can think of are: a) the creature was not a shooter (so Precision wouldn't work), b) the battle was on Cursed Ground, c) the battle was in an anti-magic garrison, or d) Orb of Inhibition was in play.

Why do you need to put a hero in the boat in the first place? Create an object like a boat (with a "scull and cross bones" flag), give it an ERM script when attacked then give it a set battle ground that stays the same (the two boat one), etc.
The idea is to have a boat that sails around and will attack players. If it's a static object without a hero "driving", it won't be sailing around so that takes away a lot of the fun of it. Also, I'm not a graphic artist and I don't know how hard it would be for one of them to create a new boat with skull & cross bones flag.

Good point but how did you make freelancers move??? They moved when you asked it to attack a particular hero or faction. Can you do a few changes to the ERM to make it so it moves each turn towards any heroes in the water and castles for looting??

having pirate units on a ship that were like rogues but they move around would be cool if it is possible.

Well..Slava coded the wandering monsters and I just wrote the script for the Freelancer's Guild that generates the available stacks of monsters and lets you hire them and uses the ERM to select wandering monster options, etc.
But yes, I think in theory Slava could write similar "wandering" code for a new object, such as a ship. If he can't provide a way to put heroes onto ships or fix the problem of them landing, maybe this could be done sometime. But I don't know if he would have time to get to it for the next update since there's already a long list of feature/ERM requests.

If you can't make a start off in a boat, my idea probably would work and would be the last choice, that is if the WoG team are planning to include pirates and/or ghost ships

the more things in heroes the better plus having pirates looting castles could make for some interesting maps

I tried to download it through stratagyplanet.com but it didn't work out very well. Is there someplace else where I can download WoG?

I am having problems too. Is WoG compatable with heroes complete because i dl the 3.53 version which from what i can see is the one you need if you are starting with no version at all. But the install exe will not run.
I unzipped everything into the update folder like i am supposed to but nothing.

If you're starting with no WoG, download the complete WoG 3.57f version. It includes everything except the ERM scripting tools which are a separate download (just scroll down a bit for the link to those).

There's an allinon1.zip file you can download instead. The 7 smaller files are for people with slower modems who have trouble downloading one large file.

Right. We have no plans for any of these. As far as I know, everyone in the WoG team prefers to keep WoG fantasy based.
Of course, any mapmaker could make a WoG map set in the modern day or future times (or even a standard Heroes map set in the future, which I believe was done by at least one mapmaker already), but you wouldn't have any special graphics to go along with it. So aside from text and possibly displaying custom GIFS or JPEGS in message boxes, everything would still tend to look mostly fantasy-themed.
