Savage Weather!
Right now I am in a Tornado Watch and a Flash Flood Watch and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, talk about exciting! There are storms to the southwest of me right now and I don't think I have seen so many colors on the weather radar before! Tornado Warnings to the southwest too, so if I don't post here for a while it is probably because I blew away.
Some of our European friends might not have seen weather like this in person before. (PH, Lews, etc.)
Peacemaker (or as IYY puts it Pacemaker ), arn't you lucky not to have to deal with this insanity! I guess this is a huge clue to were I really am, eh?

Nope, one good thing about living in Britain, it might be blooming cold most of the time, but in comparison to the likes of America or Africa our weather is mild and largely without great variations.
And our weather isn't too cold thanks to the gulf stream. Without that we'd be as cold as the likes of moscow, we're on the same longitude (or was it lattitude ) line as them after all!

That would be latitude. Well the storms have moved to the south so I'm still here. They did come close though, I probably should have stayed off the computer during it though.

Gathering Storm
Wolfman, I couldn't help but notice the background in your avatar and had a good laugh. The storms must really be bad where you are! Glad you are ok, bud. Stay safe.

thats the beauty of winnipeg, sure it went from -30 celsius (-26 ferenheit) to +15 (59 ferenheit) within 24 hours, i must admit i thought it was neat when i saw that on the weather channel
"low tonight -29 with -39 windchill and a high tomorow of +15 and sunny"
with like a foot of snow on my driveway it was cool
but other then temperature variation we dont really get hit with anything.

our temperature usually ranges anually from -35/40 to about +35
but that difference in temp was extreme even for here, i think its worse in Calgary though with the chanook.
its funny we have often almost 8 months of snow oct-may but it gets to plus 35 odd... thats the prairies for ya i guess

In Victoria Aust, its the usual story, Stage 2 weather restrictions (no washing cars, watering plants at all, only playing arenas with special permission etc.) water catchments down to 40% capacity and hundreds of farmers going broke. Now theres a drought.

Yup. Same situation here in New South Wales (another state in Australia) although the recent rains eased off a bit of the pressure.

I've only lived in Calgary for two years, but it's not that bad concerning the temperature shifts. The worse I ever saw was from -18 C to +15 C in one day.
Still, it's fun to get the chinook in completely unexpectedly. It can make all the snow melt within a few days.
On the other hand, I once stepped into a bus with sunny weather. It drove less than one kilometer to the north in less than five minutes and I was caught in a blizzard when I got out. People have a point when they say: "If you don't like the weather in Calgary, then wait ten minutes."

We got about 5 inches of snow yesterday. It's sunny today, but still very cold. We might get some more in a few days.
