heroes
The amount of heroes i use during a game depends on the MAP you are playing. A small map with little resources doesnīt need a lot of heroes because they wonīt gather money faster then it cost me to recruit them.
On a large map with a lot of resources i choose to use 8-10 heroes (2 in castle for more movement in 1 day). These heroes pick up 1500-3000 gold a day EACH! This way you will be able to have your 7th level creature before the end of week 1. You canīt buy that one if you donīt recruit 8 heroes since you will be collecting resources with your main then, and thatīs just a waste of time.
So the amount of heroes is not that important. If there will be a max of 6 heroes in homm 4, you will have to take that into account when making a map.

I just thought of this... but i believe in homm 4 there will be several dimensions, not sure how much though. Like we know surface and underground in homm 3, there could be 4 or 5 in homm 4. If this is the case, more heroes would be usefull, but it still depends on the map

Yes we are, but I just needed to end the discussion, I started it. I'm not any widow, your right Incubus, and I meant meet not meat.
I also thought that it would be better to have more than 8 heros if they added more to the heros pool. If it was unlimited, then you woudl run out of heros very quickly on an eight player map. I always thought the more heros in the heros pool the better. It doens't make any sense though, I only play with 1-2 like a lot of other people. But for some of the bigger maps it might be handier to have more heros on hand.
For the most part, I'm agreeing with you. I haev no idea why I put this up.

I voted we should have less heroes then 8 however... it should be decided by the map size
S = 3
m = 4
l = 6
xl = 8
someone with 8 heroes running around in a small map is annoying. it should be limited by map size. critisize my numbers and think up what they should be

aren`t 8 heroes too many? you can hardly make 5 of level 30~34 in an extra large map. if you have good movement, it doesn`t take that long to explore the map.i don`t think having dozens of level 10 heroes is any good, as stronger monsters or heroes will squash them.
but then imagine, dozens of gm thieves.. that would be looting policy

i only play with one centrel strong hero and a few scouts/ unit transferrers where needed

i meant to say armies, its very tireing when people on a small map, or computers for that matter, run around with 8 armies and you have to chase them down and kill them, or if they have boats (on the campaign i am playing right now) i had to chase down 8 groups of mermaids from red to finish the campaingn it took me months I had all the castles and i had the grail in the town i needed to get him, but finding little armies on the ocean takes too long, they should not be aloud to have that many.
or they should die after not having a town, or never should have been added (my hero alone could havekilled the group off alone at the start)
