'Spread' and 'Swap' buttons + + +
To aviod time-consuming operations during HOMM gameplay, two important buttons should be included in HOMM4 (hero screen): 'Spread' and 'Swap' buttons
The 'Spread' button will instantly split a stack of e.g. 5 skeletons into 5 stacks (1 skeleton in each stack).
The 'Swap' button will, when two heroes meet, swap their armies.
In addition, there should be a way to mark some of the town buildings as 'preferred', and have a button which will buy as much monsters as possible from the preffered dwellings/buildings. If, for example, you play necromancer, you can mark the skeleton, liches and dead knight dwellings, and when you press the 'Full buyout' button, you will automaticly but as much monsters as possible, starting with dead knights down to skeletons, but aviod walking deads, wights and vampires. (yes, I know vampire lords are good...)

Modifications needed
Nah thumbs down on this, I dont think that will help any. the spread would be okay, but the swap will only promote even more chaining of heroes. Which in reality is not realistic and many players want to see an elimination of chaining to begin with. Granted the only thing it will do is keep the from having to point and click to what stack is what. but I can think of countless times that I have actually liked the fact that I left all my creatures on the main, cuz just in the shadows .. the enemy attacked that very next turn, had they been swapped out your toast no chance.

what about supply lines??
i am usually rdy to run troops to my main with the start of each week, no matter where he is. right now i can usually do a line of about 5 heroes in 2 minute turns and still move my main. I would personally find a swap button very usefully. now Kres u cant tell me u dont do this as well.
A big thumbs up on swap button
(altho a 5 hero chain is about half a meduim map, so i don;t really need it, but it would be nice)

Its not the fact that I do or do not chain heros, I am just saying it needs to be movement based, and when that comes into play, then you are taking away one of talents you need to aquire, you have to be a fast clicker..
If you ever notice in most all the PS and Sega games etc. the fastest with the controls usually wins. Same with it in this case, leave the trading as it is, but a spread but would be nice cuz i forget that more than the transfering lol.

good ideas noldus
I think "spread" and "swap" would be very useful. I really dont like the idea of no chaining as the games would probably take a lot longer and they are already long enough

Swap button needed
I agree with Kres in part, that chaining does not conform to reality...but, I strongly disagree that the person who can click fastest should have an advantage. I think heroes is enjoyable because of the strategy aspect, it's not an arcade type game (not that those are bad, they're just different!). Until a good way is developed to remove chaining (which, although not realistic, does provide some strategic value) I definitely think a swap button is a good thing.

like the idea
I like this idea!
I feels such small additions to the game are of much more value than some of the other ideas in this forum as some others (won`t say wich) will take the game to far from what it is and has been.

Maybe they can replace the button where you switch off the tactics skill with the one to swap creatures

I like the swap, but spread.....
I mean, if you spread your creatures in stacks of 1, then there isn't much room left in your garrison for other creatures, if you know what I mean. But with the swap, it would make things much faster. Without swap, you have to use the castle to switch creatures from one heroe to another. And after a while it just gets annoying! If you had two heroes on one side of the and your castle on the other side, you would probably want a button or atleast a telaporting spell wich normally take alot of magic points, so I like the idea of a "swap" button.

Isn't there already a sort of swap button, I mean u don't get to swap them all at once, but when 2 heroes meet anywhere on the map u can realy give units from one hero to another. Os what would be the difference between your swap button and the one already available?

There is always going to be nuances to any game that some people will not like or feel that they are unfair. The swap feature will save time for a tactic that everyone uses.
