I only know of one other Christian on HC (Fenix) so I was wondering: Is anyone out there?

Well, I do not know english well, so I think christian is almost same as Catholic.

I'm Christian then. I believe in every word said in the bible and said about Jesus.

I also believe in that afterlife it is said to be.

One more thing: I say that the other religions have their own names of the god, traditions, habits, but the god is always the same. I believe that there's one god only and I'd say it's Jesus.

VADS: You can count me in to, then Me and Fenix. More like us?

BTW, is catholic same as Christian.

Funny, because the Bible says that Jesus is God's son, not God himself.

AFAIK catholicism is a branch of christianity. Or was it the other way around? Damn...

Isnīt Catholism a form (donīt know if this is a right word) of Christianity, like Orthodoxy or Lutheranism? Canīt say for sure, though.

I'm a christian. That is not to say I would agree on much with a Bible-thumpin', gay-bashing, Bush-voting conservative baptist who feels that "an eye for an eye" is the single most important sentence in the Bible.

Most christians will say that in order to be a christian, you would have to believe the following:

That Jesus Christ is God's only begotten son, and that he died (and rose again) for all the sins of mankind, so that each one who believes in him shall have eternal life.
(This is just a translation off the top of my head, so the wording might be a bit different from what native speakers are used to.)

Christianity is the hypernym here. Catholicism, Protestantism, the Baptist Church, Pentecostalists, the (Greek/Russian) Orthodox, they're all Christian.

Mormons, Jehova's witnesses and the like are normally not considered Christian.

And as far as I know, there are several other Christians on this board.

I believe in the lord God, the one true God. I am also a devote follower of lord Jesus Christ the profit,Who is the son of God.Does that make me a christian, I don't believe that it does. It makes me love the lord and fear his wrath, It makes me try to be a good person and to do the right thing. It is my feeling that christianity is a hypocrisy in itself, for I have met a lot of people that claim to be god fearing christians, but will stab you in the back and rob you blind at the first chance they get. so I refuse to be a hypocrite, I caim no religeous preference in all that I do, However I do attend A Babtist church with my children to give them a chance to make up there own mind about religeon.Sorry for the negative post vad, Not referring to you, just a generalization of my thought on the issue. Redhawk raises his hand in support of vadski91 and christianity as a whole!!!!

Huh?  That's the very definition of Christian.  If someone who follows Christ isn't a Christian, who is?

Again, I'm confused.  People who behave hypocritically are called "hypocrites," not "Christian."  If they happen to be Christian as well, that just makes them bad Christians to boot.  (are we talking the Jerry Falwell types here?)  If you claim to be god-fearing Christian and don't stab others in the back, etc., are you still a hypocrite?

Basically, why let the bad apples define the entire barrel?

God frowns on us all and its only a matter of time before God has had enough and intervenes and cleans house.

Most (all?) of my Christian friends are conservative (though not what you described Dongio), and I am a liberal Independant.  I made a mistake and told them that once... We had a nice long debate about that as I recall.

Wow, lots more Cristians than I thought!    Thanks everyone!

Understood.  So, why don't you proudly claim the title "Christian," stay true to your faith, and show the world what it's really about?  It just seems sad to abandon your rightful label to hypocrites.

It's not about bloodline, it's about what you believe.

Oh BTW, a short history of Cathelicism (sp?):
For hundreds of years, if you were Christian, you were Catholic.  There weren't any offshoots.  Then Martin Luther nailed his issues with the Catholic Church on that door and the Protestant church was born.  Then it divided up into little denominations like Baptists and Lutherans and such.  Catholicism is set apart because Catholics pray to the saints also, unlike all the other denominations.  I dislike that, that's why I'm one of the Protestant denominations.  Doesn't matter which one, I don't care and so therefor you don't either.

Well there ye have it.  I skipped a buncha stuff no doubt.  It's a Short History anyway though.

Actually, religion is almost never a matter of choice. It is prepared for you, while your parents are still in the process of making you.

Tell me Vad, are your parents catholics or protestants?

Your short history was so short that it left out the fact that offshoots of Catholicism did exist prior to Protestantism such as the Cathars and Hussites. The Catholic church of the period being that nice understanding kind of guys that it was though crushed both of those before they got too popular and dared to *shock* challenge the priests and popes power. Also you left out the Orthodox religions of Eastern Europe, which is a big no-no as they have existed as a seperate body for well over 1000 years and are still going strong in at least 2 countries I can think of (Russia and Greece and it exists also in the Balkan region) today.

Short as you said

Oh and my hands are firmly by my side, christianity makes far too little sense for my liking to adhere to more than it's core principles, which I would do anyway. Me? I'm an agnostic.
