Tavern is more of a community board. There are some short threads in there, with lots of memories in them. A short thread in OSM usually means it is a failed discussion.
That's not to say that the Tavern couldn't use a little cleaning, but it should be imo done much more carefully than in OSM.

I don't think it should be done at all. sI don't agree with it being done in the OSM either but the Tavern is usually more personal to the person than what OSM is. Not saying that it should be done in OSM. Why can't people just leave things the way they are instead of trying to make the community better as to what they see fit. It's not even something that is necessary and will benefit the community. It's useless so just leave Tavern the way it is.

It's not like Tavern is getting ****loads of threads made every single day. Why the need to even remove any of them? Out of all threads, I could think of a few forums which could be cleaned if necessary if there was 'lack of space' lol. It doesn't involve Tavern or OSM.

Solution: Add archive version of every forum.
Non-active threads get moved to archive, if they get replied to they get instantly moved to the active forum.
Keeps HC from getting cluttered up, minimum work for mods.
Then again HC hasn't received a software update since dinosaurs walked the earth so...

There are lots of threads in the tavern that don't need to be there any longer. As for the ism, I don't feel to bad about deleting threads. I gave everyone a chance to save them and nobody seemed to care. Present policy ensures no threads are deleted if users want to save them, so if threads are deleted only you guys are to blame. Considering Val's instructions to mods, this policy is pretty generous. Besides, it's a moot point. Shy hasn't deleted squat, so what's all the complaining about anyway?

I'm pretty indifferent to be honest. But that's probably just more due to lack of insight. Therefore, the rest of my post will be dedicated to nothing else than irrelevant nitpicking.
Quote: Then again HC hasn't received a software update since dinosaurs walked the earth so...
Ha! I knew it! I knew there was dinosaurs in Sweden in the early 2000's!
Quote: Present policy ensures no threads are deleted if users want to save them, so if threads are deleted only you guys are to blame.
I believe the quoted statement rests on the assumption that people will notice the given thread set for deletion within the time limit of 1 month typically. I think the people from back then who still comes by, but aren't really active, would most likely miss such events.
Unless you meant that the users at the community have a (or even full) responsibility in regard to past events they had no or little interaction with, in which case I think that's a bit italian of you.

Considering this is a homm and mmh board, I guess you mean stuff like roleplaying games, other games, forum feedback, etc.? Btw. isn't the use of word 'disgrace' not a bit much in this context or am I missing something? If I am, you're very welcome to elaborate.
Quote: Tavern is more of a community board.
I'm not certain such generalisation holds true anymore to be honest. Most social interaction outside the heroes boards I see, is in Wasteland and OSM. Tavern, to me, seems to be mainly the same 'purpose threads' getting updated. Stuff like the math thread or the comic thread. While osm in the ~2.5-3 years I've been here have had a lot more social interactions. An example of such, I think, could be the real life photo thread, which I think is more of a community thread and probably should have been in the tavern.

Disgrace isn't too much. It's a part of HC history since 2001. Why anybody would want to delete it is beyond me.

Ok. Thank you. I did however already understand that much. What I don't understand is what makes deleting parts of HC history a disgrace?
One more question. Do you agree that certain threads are more important than others from back then, just as it is now? Here I think about the threads which goes to the wasteland despite being just as much a part of history (in the most general sense of the word).
Edit: If the questions are bothersome, please just tell me and I'll stop asking.

Because they should be left alone. What's the harm of them sitting there? It's not like the Tavern is the most active subforum, so why even the need to delete? It's all a part of what makes HC..well, HC. What good is deleting them other than deleting past posts? Sometimes it's cool to read threads from years ago and see all the different kinds of users you got here.

Regarding if they should be deleted, I think it heavily depends on Val's instruction. I tried to read the housecleaning threads introduction posts and it looks like it's a matter of cleaning up the place.
It'd be nice if a mod would elaborate the importance and necessity level of this task, compared to the past where such procedures did not take place (I think). Though that may be too much to ask for, I don't know.
Anyway, I don't have much more to write as of now. Though I'd like to point out that despite you're right that the past makes up HC of today, I think what is even more important and what defines HC even more (of course only in my opinion), is the actual users who're active (which of course follows partly from the past of HC, or at least the way they behave to some degree).
Edit: With which I mean, I'm just as much in the dark as you are regarding the priority of the procedures.

Hi Adrius. I actually missed your post here for a couple of months o.0
I think because I logged in that day and logged out so it wasn't flagged as changed anymore.
Regardless, does anybody else have any suggestions? =D
Trogdor has suggested War-Overlord and I am inclined to agree, but are there any other posts that stand out to you?

Nobody is reproducing them for financial gain. Plus they're hotlinked - anyone can easily cut and paste the same link into their browser without being at HC and see the exact same image.
