regret

The fall of her hair
Last night
Held me captive

Auburn strands flickering with the
Intermittent flash of the fire
A kaleidoscope of wonder and enchantment
Hypnotic paralysis

A January breeze sweeps through
A hula of silk across her cheek
Her brow, her nose
Choreographed to each thud of blood

There is so much I want to say…

I search for words to make her smile
To activate a sparkle in her eyes
Witless, Charmless, Wordless
Submerged

Hope abandoned with mouth slightly ajar
Smiling she turns and walks away
Misinterpreting my silence for indifference
I am left with the scent of jasmine.

Women Progress In A Man's World

**copied from cnn website and edited by me**
Quote:
By Elizabeth Yuan

Not until 1983, more than 20 years later, did the United States send its first woman, Sally Ride, into space. Nearly half a century ago, 13 female pilots proved they were as fit to go into space as the men who became immortalized as America's first astronauts, the Mercury 7. The women underwent the same intensive medical tests, at the same Albuquerque, New Mexico, clinic, administered by the same staff, as the men did two years earlier.

"When you put them next to the men, they were as good," recalled Dr. Donald Kilgore, who helped test both the men and women between 1959 and 1961 at the Lovelace Clinic. What was the women's biggest obstacle? "Ovaries," said Kilgore. "The world just wasn't ready at that time."

On Saturday, the "Mercury 13" women received honorary Doctor of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh at its commencement. "While the Mercury 13 did not get their shot at space, at least not yet. They refused to let someone else trim their dreams. They fought for what they wanted, what they believed in, and spoke out against discrimination," said keynote speaker Martha Ackmann, author of "The Mercury 13: The Untold Story of Thirteen American Women and the Dream of Space Flight."

In recent years the women have been honored by the Adler Planetarium, women in Aviation International as well as their state aviation halls of fame. An exhibition about their tests is now on display at the International Women's Air and Space Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

The 13 included Jerrie Cobb, Gene Nora Jessen, Wally Funk, Irene Leverton, Myrtle "K" Cagle, Jane Hart, Jerri Truhill, Rhea Hurrle Woltman, Sarah Ratley, Bernice "B" Steadman, Jean Hixson, Jan Dietrich and Marion Dietrich, Jan's twin. (Learn more about the Mercury 13). "We proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that women could do it," said Truhill, now 78. "It just took NASA 30 years." Her fellow "girls," as Truhill calls the pilots, range in age from late-60s to 85. Marion Dietrich and Jean Hixson have died.

It was Cobb, Truhill's friend from air races, who first attracted the interest of Dr. Randy Lovelace. By 1960, the 28-year-old Cobb had set four world aviation records for speed, distance and absolute altitude. Lovelace was chairman of NASA's Special Life Sciences Committee and had helped draw up the criteria for NASA's first astronaut candidates. He had heard that Russia was considering sending a woman into space. Women were physically smaller, lighter and would take up less oxygen than men. The question was: Could they withstand the psychological and physical stresses of space? In a private effort, Lovelace decided to put Cobb through all phases of the Mercury astronaut tests to find out how women held up. She so impressed Lovelace that he wanted to find out: Was she a fluke, or were women as viable as men to be space capsule candidates? With Cobb's help, Lovelace recruited another 25 female pilots to undergo the same tests. Twelve passed "with flying colors," said Kilgore. Cobb would refer to herself and the finalists of this first round of testing as FLATS, for "First Lady Astronaut Trainees."

Once the women were past the physical tests, they were invited to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, for flight tests. This second phase of testing would address NASA's requirement that an astronaut must be a military test pilot, and for the women it represented a taste of what was unattainable. A military test pilot had to have graduated from one of the test pilot schools, and enrollment of females into U.S. military academies was still nearly 15 years away. Days before reporting to Pensacola, the women received telegrams that their program had been canceled. Cagle recalls crying about the news: "My husband said, 'Honey, look how close you came. Look at who didn't make it.' "

Kilgore said that while there was no official intent to put women in the space program, Lovelace thought he could do the tests and prove the women qualified. His position with NASA "meant that he was in the position to send recommendations," Kilgore said. He never got that far; the Navy said no. Efforts by Cobb and Hart to get women included in NASA went as far as Capitol Hill in 1962, where they testified on behalf of the Mercury 13 women at congressional hearings. The efforts failed, and less than a year later, Russia launched Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space.

Discarded Hindu Widows Of India

**copied from cnn website/edited by me**
Quote:
Hindu widows are shunned from society when their husbands die, not for religious reasons, but because of tradition and because they're seen as a financial drain on their families. They cannot remarry. They must not wear jewelry. They are forced to shave their heads and typically wear white. Even their shadows are considered bad luck. Hindus have long believed that death in Vrindavan will free them from the cycle of life and death. For widows, they hope death will save them from being condemned to such a life again.

"Does it feel good?" says 70-year-old Rada Rani Biswas. "Now I have to loiter just for a bite to eat." Biswas speaks with a strong voice, but her spirit is broken. When her husband of 50 years died, she was instantly ostracized by all those she thought loved her, including her son. "My son tells me: 'You have grown old. Now who is going to feed you? Go away,' " she says, her eyes filling with tears. "What do I do? My pain had no limit." As she speaks, she squats in front of one of Vrindavan's temples, her life reduced to begging for scraps of food.

There are an estimated 40 million widows in India, many of them shunned and stripped of the life they lived when they were married. It's believed that 15,000 widows live on the streets of Vrindavan, a city of about 55,000 in northern India. "Widows don't have many social rights within the family," says Ranjana Kumari with the Center for Social Research, a group that works to empower women. The situation is much more extreme within India's rural community. "There, it is much more tradition-bound; in urban areas, there are more chances and possibilities to live a normal life." But the majority of India's 1.1 billion population is rural. "The government recognizes the problem," Kumari says. "It can do a lot, but it's not doing enough."

One woman, a widow herself, is working for change. Dr. Mohini Giri has formed an organization called the Guild of Service, which helps destitute women and children. Giri's mother was widowed when Giri was 9 years old, and she saw what a struggle it was. Then, Giri lost her husband when she was 50, enduring the social humiliation that comes with being a widow. At times, she was asked not to attend weddings because her presence was considered bad luck. "Generally all widows are ostracized," she says. "An educated woman may have money and independence, but even that is snatched away when she becomes a widow. We live in a patriarchal society. Men say that culturally as a widow you cannot do anything: You cannot grow your hair, you should not look beautiful." She adds, "It's the mind-set of society we need to change -- not the women." Seven years ago, Giri's organization set up a refuge called Amar Bari, or "My Home," in Vrindavan. It has become a refuge for about 120 of India's widows. Giri's organization is set to open a second home, one that will house another 500 widows. But as she says, "Mine is but a drop in the bucket."

At Amar Bari, most widows reject traditional white outfits and grow out their hair. Along the open air corridors that link the house's courtyard are green wooden doors, leading to dark tiny rooms, home for each widow. Bent over by osteoporosis, 85-year-old Promita Das meticulously and slowly sweeps the floor just outside her door and then carefully cleans her dishes. "I came here when I couldn't work anymore. I used to clean houses," she says. "Nobody looked after me, nobody loved me. I survived on my own." She married at 12 and was widowed at 15. Seventy years later, she finds herself at Amar Bari. "I used to live in front of a temple, but then I came here," she says. She carries with her not only the pain of a life without love, but also the loss of her only child. She gave birth at 14; her baby lived a year.

Another widow, Ranu Mukherjee, wearing a bright red-patterned sari, shows off her room at the home and wants to sing for her guests. The lyrics of her song are about a lost traveler. "When did you come here after losing your way?" she sings. "When I remember the days gone by I feel sad."

Womans touch the best thing in life.
When you touch a woman its better
so gentle
so sweet
so pure
basicly its one of those things you cant describe with words.
Its better then a smoke after good meal,or with coffe
A smoke after sex is the best smoke in the world
But...
A woman
inloved
with you
loving her back
and having the most netural feelings and acts in the world
NOTHING can beat that, and i will let nohting destory it
i sensed it
for a brief of existence
which is nothing comperd to humane life span
There is nothing more then i miss to a womans inner fire.
The way it lights you..
Its...I cant even describe it
The way you act
inloved
drunk of her sent
the way a love always makes you feel better doesnt metter how tired or frusterd you are.
the way you always want to see her
and huge her
kiss her
the way.
the way you want her, even at worse of moments, the way you can with her, even if your alone, and most importent, the way you one person, even if you 2.

And for that reason,im single, since yesterday, where i broke up with my gf,she couldnt light my fire, desprite that i could light hers.
It stung me the most her words of goodbye.
"I wish you luck, with who'm ever you be"
Her face.a heart breake never knew i could do that..

But im still searching for that one sweety ,my other half, you probbly know the story.
when god created men,he stole from each men,a part for a woman.
Now we search our parts, and for that,i drink that all of us,will find our parts, and those who did,i wish the best of luck!

Thankyou

when men hunted by the moon
and the giant aardvarks ate avocados and
and the women were worshipped
and the womb was holy
for all life came from it

and the men brought back the deer
and orgasmed from the protein
and then went to their smelly skin tents
and orgasmed again

and they woke to find fresh air
and clean water and
land unseen by sapient eyes
life was an orgasm
that men were birthed into.

thankyou women
thankyou for all the orgasms.

Because nothing gets it up like the decomposing corpse of a deer!

Women: An American Perspective?

Former President Jimmy Carter writes in his book, "Our Endangered Values: America's Moral Crisis", on page 86 in chapter 9: Must Women Be Subservient?

Here former president Carter iterates an eight-page chapter of what he believes to be the case for women in our modern American society. I found it to be especially inspiring personally and would like to share these wonderful eight pages here in this thread. I will not alter or edit the material in any way....a simple transcription only.

Must Women Be Subservient?

by Jimmy Carter

Page 86
The fifteenth amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted black men the right to vote in 1870, ninety-four years after the declaration "All men are created equal." It was fifty years later that American women finally won the same right, and some slow progress has been realized since that time---at least in the secular world. President Franklin D. Roosevelt selected the first woman to occupy a cabinet post, and other presidents and I have chosen women for major roles in our cabinets and White House staff. I was able to appoint more female federal judges than all my predecessors combined, in the House and Senate, and as chief executive officers of major corporations. Other nations as diverse as India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Israel, Great Britain, the Philippines, and

Page 87
Nicaragua have had women as presidents or prime ministers. These nations represent citizens who are predominantly Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian, and include two of the three largest democracies on earth.

Despite the fact that Jesus Christ was the greatest liberator of women, some male leaders of the Christian faith have continued the unwarranted practice of sexual discrimination, derogating women and depriving them of their equal rights to serve God. This same insistence on the submission of wives to husbands and the branding of women as inferior has also been adopted in some Islamic nations. It is inevitable that this sustained religious subjugation has been a major influence in depriving women of basic rights within the worldwide secular community.

Most Bible scholars acknowledge that the Holy Scriptures were written when male dominance prevailed in every aspect of life. When Jesus began his remarkable ministry, the treatment of women throughout the Roman Empire and the Holy Land was reminiscent of what we have observed recently under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Even in matters of marriage and divorce, women were considered to be chattel, who were not to contradict decisions made by their fathers or husbands. Even widows of prominent and respected men had few legal rights. Men could possess multiple women (King Solomon had 300 wives and 700 concubines), but adulterous behavior by a woman could be punished by stoning to death.

Page 88
There are two reports in Genesis of God's creation of human beings, which may seem to be somewhat contradictory. It was the sixth day when, as described in Genesis I:26-27, "God said, 'Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness';...so God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Then, in the second chapter of Genesis, God first created man and later decided that he needed a partner. "So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man...Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh."

Both of these Scriptures emphasize mutuality and equality of the worth of male and female, but many Christian fundamentalists use the second selection as a basis for their belief in the superiority of the first-created man, combined with an allegation that Eve should be held solely accountable for "original sin." There is no need to argue about such matters, because it is human nature to be both selective and subjective in deriving the most convenient meaning by careful choices from the 30,400 or so biblical verses.

There is one incontrovertable fact concering the relationship bewteen Jesus Christ and women: he treated them as equal to men. This dramatically differed from the prevailing custom of the times. Although the four Gospels were

Page 89
written by men, they never report any instance of Jesus condoning sexual discrimination or the implied subservience of women. In a radical departure from earlier geneologies, Matthew even includes four gentile women among the ancestors of Christ: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. The exaltation and later worship of Mary, Jesus' mother, is an even more vivd indication of the special status of women in Christian theology.

There are too many examples from the earthly ministry of Christ to describe here, but two or three are pertinent. Despite the prevailing prohibition against any dealing with women in public, Jesus had no hesitancy about conversing at the community well with a Samaritan woman, who was a pariah among both Jews and her peers because of her ethnicity and lascivious behaviour. She accepted Jesus as the promised Messiah, and took this message back to her own villagers---the first example of an evangelical witness. Jesus also rejected the double standard of punishment for adultery, by granting both a pardon and forgiveness to a condemned woman, saying simply, "Let him who is without sin throw the first stone."

Perhaps more significant wa the adoption of women to travel with Jesus' entourage, and the acceptance of their spiritual and financial support within his personal ministry. It may be that his most intimate confidante was Mary, the sister of Lazarus, whom he visited often in Bethany and who seemed to be one of the few people who understood that he

Page 90
would be crucified and resurrected. Mary Magdalene had the honor of boldly visiting his empty tomb, and then the Savior instructed her to inform all the other disciples, fearfully hiding in a secret place, that the Savior was risen from the grave.

It is ironic that women are welcomed into all major professions and other positions of leadership but are deprived of the right to serve Jesus Christ in positions of leadership as they did during his earthly ministry and in the early Christian churches. This is just another contentious issue that has caused divisions within our faith. In fact, a decision to increase prejudicial attitudes based on gender is one of the primary reasons I decided to sever my ties with a denomination to which I had been loyal during the first seventy years of my life.

The current special effort of Southern Baptist Convention leaders to "keep women in their place" is based on the ridiculous assertion that "man was first in creation, and woman was first in Edenic fall," plus a few careful selections from Saint Paul's letters tot he early churches. It does seem clear that, if addressed alone, some verses from Paul's letters to the early churches indicate his departure from Jesus' example and a strong bias against women, directing that they should be treated as second-class Christians---submissive to their husbands, attired and coiffed demurely, and silent in church.

I do not maintain in any case that the troubling verses are

Page 91
erroneus or that there are contradictions between different portions of the original inspired word of God. It is necessary in some cases, though, to assess the local circumstances within a troubled early church congregation and to study the exact meaning of the Greek and Hebrew words. One illustrative example: Paul says, "I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man." The Greek word for "teach or have authority" is authentein, and this is the only time it is used in the New Testament. I don't know Greek, but scholars point out that other early meanings of the word included "killing," "originating," "dominating," and "authoring."

Many scholars interpret Paul's instructions to the church in Corinth as descriptive of special problems within some of the congregations, an expression of concern to "brothers and sisters" who are confused and disorderly. For worshipers in our modern society, it has been found convenient to ignore Paul's comments pertinent to his era---such as "Any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head---it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair." (This makes it clear, by the way, that it is acceptable for women to pray and prophesy if their heads are covered.) Paul also forbade women to braid their hair or to wear rings, jewelry, or expensive clothes. It is obvious to most modern-day Christians that Paul is not mandating permanent or generic theological policies.

In a letter to Timothy, Paul expresses a prohibition

against women's teaching men, but we know---and he knew---that Timothy had been instructed by his mother and grandmother. It is also difficult to understand how Paul's close friend Priscilla is revered for having instructed Apollos, one of the great preachers of that day, so that he could more accurately reveal that Jesus was indeed the Christ.

To resolve the apparent disharmony between Jesus and Paul in defining the status of women, I refer to two other exerpts from Paul's writings. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul states, "But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith....There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." To the Romans, Paul listed and thanked twenty-eight outstanding leaders of the early churches, at least ten of whom women: "I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae...Greet Prisca and Aquila, who work with me in Christ Jesus...Greet Mary, who has worked very hard among you. Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was...Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them."

Page 93
It is inconceivable to me that Paul would encourage and congratulate inspired women who were successful deacons, apostles, ministers, and saints and still be quoted by modern male chauvinists as a biblical reason for excluding women from accepting God's call to serve others in the name of Christ. In reality, Paul has not separated himself from the lesson that Jesus taught: that women are to be treated equally in their right to serve God.

Devout Christians can find adequate Scripture to justify either side in this debate. The question is whether we evangelical believers in Christ want to abandon his example and exclude a vast array of potential female partners, who are equally devout and responding to God's call to serve with us in advancing God's kingdom on earth.

Women are greatly abused in many countries in the world, and the alleviation of their plight is made less likely by the mandated subservience of women by Christian fundamentalists. What is especially disappointing to me is the docile acceptance by so many strong Christian women of their subjugation and restricted role.

I couldn't agree more with the exerpt I've posted from Carter's book, "Our Endangered Values: America's Moral Crisis".

Consis...your quote is from Tennyson.

Here is a spoken word piece that I did not too long ago.

Moments never forgotten.

A breathtaking exhilaration
An incredible explosion and I feel as though I shall either succumb to the conflicts going off in my head and pass out
Or roll with the waves that are crashing into my body.
An awesome crescendo punctuated with the wild fluttering of my heart.
Beads of perspiration running in tiny rivers down the small of my back.
A wild, unrestrained drum beat coursing through my mind and soul.
It hadnt started so desperately, ending itself in this hot, urgent and needful episode.
It had been quiet, sneaky-like and tentative.
Like ghost hands reaching out and running its feathery tendrils down my spine.
Twirling itself around my body and whispering in my ear all the possibilities.
The heartbeat had increased, and the heat that began to generate was a slow burn.
The connection indisputable.
The gaze locked in.
How intense and full of unbridled passion.
The soft suggestion turned silently to agreement.
The ghostly touch was replaced with physical exploration
Only very hesitant
The body so smoldering it burns you
If you close your eyes you would swoon for the thought alone.
Beads of sweat are forming and the temperature is rising still
The touch more forceful and wanting
But still shaking, trying to control what can not be tamed
You can not breathe and you can not think
The thoughts are consumed by the song and the soul which lay beneath you.
The hard edge has disappeared leaving in its wake
Submission to the beast
Fully aware of what has been aroused
You want it, you NEED it
Hungry mouths searching each other out
Caressing as though there wasn’t any time
The trembling fingertips and soft lips
Finding their way
Intakes of breath so sharp, they cut
Please
No
Clenching fists and writhing
Until the need is so great
So at the breaking point.
But it isnt so easily given
The playing far from over
Not until breaths are gasps
they come short and ragged
And bodies are drenched
Relief comes in the form of time
While physical trapping were removed
Time before you joined
in gentle, tender anticipation
Eyes close as he slides in,
fingernails gripping and legs are wrapping around
That first feeling so exquisite
Then the strokes governed by a rhythm,
all the while hands rubbing and cupping in time
The pressure building and
stars are exploding
Panting, moaning,
sighing and groaning
No words can be formed
this primal lust trumps
My god
Please
No
Mouths are searching and caressing as they grow heated
The roar in my mind deafening
Almost there
Almost time
The movement reaching a fevered pitch
God help me
I can feel it coming
Like a freight train
You brace yourself
holding on for dear life
Little death indeed
When it finally unleashes
Like euphoria
Gushing
Ecstasy beyond any reasonable standard
Molten body and soul
Release, god sweet release.
Collapse
As the waves of ecstasy,
assault you over and over again
You catch your breath
Only to be taken again
God this amazing rapture
More penetrating than before
until once more
Elation finds you,
bodies tense and
you can only barely hang on
A breathtaking exhilaration
An incredible explosion and
I succumb to it.
Consumed.
Satisfied
Content and at peace.
Soft words spoken and hair smoothed
gentle squeezes
and light kisses upon lids
After glow
Moments never forgotten.

True that. LOL
Doesnt matter how much makeup they wear, or how much plastic surgery they have either...

10 pounds of cake makeup wont make an ugly woman pretty.
For example: Tammy Faye Baker. Hmmmm.
No amount of plastic surgery wont make an ugly woman pretty.
For example: that New York Socialite that they call the "Cat lady"

Also in addition, beauty doesn't have to be physical...
I have seen a lot of women who are drop dead gorgeous and so ugly personally that you might even wonder what demon is possessing her.

The Last Thing To Happen

To the woman I've known but only just met
I can't explain why or how you have cast over your net
I've been captured by your eccentric beauty
in the days of recent not like duty
There was no plan or expectant philosophy
I originally came to you through the terms of comraderie
It was the last thing I thought would ever happen to me
To meet someone like you in common you see
Every day since has been a drug of the mind
where my thoughts and my feelings linger inside
I can't shake the feeling as time goes by
Every waking moment only serves to imbibe
all that you are inside of my heart
to threshold's horizon and rip it apart
You have brought down my world of bitterness and anger
You destroyed every last piece and fiber of danger
Those were things I carried with me
All on the day before I met thee
Not a breath goes by or glance in the sky
without dreaming of you and the reddened lips of imbue
It's a bad case of love that accosted me so
It's a sick nautious feeling I can't bare to let go
At the drop of a hat did I discover you there
Under the stars in any color of hair
Because the inside of you makes your outside of hue
that same glittering color, that same starstruck grue
My life has been changed for the better you see
My world has been turned on its head under me
It doesn't make sense that you would affect me like this
I don't see the logic that seems to persist
But isn't that how we know the truth about love
When it's there and it's growing inside like a dove
When your heart has wings and flutters above

I hope to god you're talking about a newly rekindled passion with your wife.

If you aren't, you're being an idiot and I will laugh in your face when your fantasy breaks and all the selfish **** you're engaging in blows up in your face.
