Multiplayer Rules
Rage,
There aren't any concrete rules that everyone must abide by in order to play HoMM3 Online with other people. But, I believe there are some actual regulations for certain competitions on the main tournament sites: ToH & WW. Correct me if I am wrong, anyone, but I think that this is especially true for the Clans & Ceasar competitions.
Jebus, Conan, and I mentionned some of those rules earlier in this thread (No Fly, Solomyr, and Necro), but I am not sure where there might be a full list. There might be some info on ToH somewhere, but I can't access it from work now. There might also be something here:

Some players post their rules when they Host a game, so you could just always just check with one of those people before joining their game too. All in all, games that are neither ToH or WW can follow any rules that the players agree to.

Thanks guys. Conan, I was just replying to Leo's statement about necro and conflux being the best teams online. Or "the only other team that can keep up with necro is conflux". But I was pointing out that every team can be powerful when used in conjuction with what they specialize in. I think conflux has a few weak spots. One being that the resirrection spell (one of my favorites) is pretty well useless, because of them being elementals.

It actually took a while for me to understand that, to understand that all towns had something special they focused in. That knowledge alone made me understand the strengh of the Fortress with Tazar. - Now I only play Fortress if I want to make sure I win.

It's good to clear things up. I've been on the community a while, but only recently started posting. I'd agree with you about the fortress thing. They seemed like total junk at first, but are actually pretty good. Especially the mighty G's. An awesome unit if you know how to use them.

yah, once you start playing with them and know how to use them, the Fortress is really good. I especially like the Wyverns day 2!!!
About the Moo's, I can't find a better not-level-7-unit to take out some Dragon Utopia's... A stack of Hydras and a stack of Moo's plus the rest of stacks single moo's.... does wonders!

I would have to say they are my favorite 5th level creature. Oh ya, I keep forgetting. I'm from Canada too! Me and you should have a game sometime. I don't have internet at home yet though. I'm at school right now. Anyways, a bit off topic...

Well, I don't mind the off-topicness... Nice to meet a fellow Canadian!  Pandora, Lion dude, Jebus and Frank are also Canadians.
I'd love to play you online, but how will that be possible if you only have internet access at school? (Unless you installed the game there!  )

I'm not so sure it is possible. (Athough I would like to try that one!). But I think we will be getting internet at home soon. At the top of the thread page it says new topic, new poll, and post reply. I get the post reply, but could you explain the other ones. Cause then maybe posts like this wouldn't seem so off topic to people who are viewing.

all discussion are organized in threads. All threads are ideas that are posted in a forum. This thread is in the Library of Enl. forum.
New thread is starting a new discussion about something else that is relevant to the forum. Like a thread on playing in ToH in the ToH forum (the very first forum on the main HC page).
New poll is a way to make a poll as a new thread as "What town do you like best?" Users can pick a choice and submit to get a generel feeling of the different tastes out there.
You can see where you are at the top of the page under the New Poll, New Thread and post reply, to the right of the screen. You see: Index > Library of Enlightenment > Thread: Enlighten me please . That means you are in the library, and viewing that Thread.
Index is the main HC page. Those are also links so you can navigate from there.

Thanks Conan, that does help to clear some stuff up. Now to maybe get back on topic... would you agree that coflux and necro are the ruling towns in online gaming and maybe even in single and hotseat.

No, I wouldn't...
But that's only because I'm a N00b. 
I'm serious here... I don't play with Conflux enough to know of their strengh and if I did play with them right now, I'd loose against any one using any town!!!! LOL
But for necro, I never use the ressurect 1000 skellies trick. I just play the darn game without 7 heroes running around with a few vamp lords ressurecting every living organism !
But I do understand the logic behind conflux being the best castle. The thing is that if you can't use it and because I don't know how to use it, I'll never try playing with them!
Sorry, I guess I'm not much help here, but if you go in the table of Contents created by Yours Truly, you can find a couple threads about the conflux town that where discussed here in the library. It's actually pretty interesting stuff.

It's alright actually... I really don't like conflux anyways. Probably my least favorite team. I'm best with necro, I'm getting to know all there little tricks. The thing is, I'm hearing something about people not letting you be necro in online games? Maybe I heard wrong...

Actually you are right...
That's true, most players wont let you play with necro online. Especially if you are playing for ToH or WW.
It is banned because of the thousands of skelletons you can get. I was good with necro aslo, but learned that you couldn't use them. Now I like and practice with Fortress.

That's bad news for me man... I better start playing with other teams. I'm pretty good with all teams, but it seems like necro was my destiny... fortress may be a good alternative team though. I may find myself following your path then.

yah, I thought it was bad news too.
The thing is that online gaming is soooooo different from AI that you might be good with necro against AI, but find out that another town works better for you online - That was my case.
I got my inspiration from the Tazar's skills building thread in the ToH forum. I was reading and made all the different choice than the ones that where there. Then I tried to figure out why all these people where saying these things and learned a great deal.
It's a learning curve.

Necro is still allowed in corpse/corpse wars Same goes for Conflux 
Also, if you like the thousands of skellies part of necro, then you may see inferno as a good alternative, with their demon farming. If done properly, you may very well have a few hundred demons within the first month. It's pretty time consuming and you may want a calculator nearby

OK. first of all, i couldnt agree with Conan more, i am not into this game very deep. i'd say play against me whatever you want, and no rules of engagement(StrongHold power supreme)
Personally i dont give a crap about my stats on ToH
And secondly, what is a deamon farming anyway?

Here's one of the threads about demon farming. There was a better one somewhere though, but this one was closer to the top and the google search thingy was of no help. I am disappointed that there was no thread on demon farming listed in the Library Table of Contents.

Well then your presence is more than welcome with us "noobs".... (we should start a noob tourney!! LOL)
Me and Conan are old school... Necro's, magic, logistics and resurection... mass implosion and the rest.... DD, fly..... XL maps that last forever.... If I want a staring hero with lvl 4 spells, good for me!!! If you want to play necro? let's do it!!!
