Rating a thread and owning it.
Hi Tigris,
I own this thread in the "Mark your terrirtory" thread, but I cannot rate it.
Anyone can rate a thread if they have 4 red stars (I think?)

Okay. I suck at Homm. Just because I have all these stars doesn't mean I'm good at Homm. I think 1 out of all my QPs came from Library and the only reason I got that is because it was about making maps, which is the one thing that I'm good at in Homm. I can make a good map.
Edit: Nope It's not even in Library anymore. When the MapHaven was made, they shipped my only Library QP into the new forum. Here's the link if you wanna check it out.

I actually have two maps that I made and have submitted to Toh. Both were accepted, however the timing of my submissions was a bit tardy as nowadays, people will only play random maps. The few exceptions are the old super-popular fixed maps, like hourglass3, desert war, and battle for honor. That's one thing I never liked about Toh, is how everyone plays the same maps over and over again. Oh damn I just got an idea. What if like bonuses or medals were given out to players who played 25 different maps in Toh. There are medals for playing 50 games already, but I think it would be cool if there was some bonus like that for playing numerous maps.

Dingo is actually pretty good compared to me. I think he just needs practice, but to be honest, I don't think Woock or Dingo would want to join this. The only reason I do, is because I once played in toh way back in season 3. I was a footman. w00t. Played like 5 games I don't even think my rating was 1000. It was like 940 and some change.

Ever tried making a random map template?
It's fun once you get the hang of it!

OK, RSF, I'll put you in. Before I do though, I would like to ask you if you are comfortable with the fact that there are no rules. We play HoMM3 the way it comes in the package. Is that cool?
Also, I'll give you Ruho's place because that person has not responded to my emails or IM's...
Griaustinis said he would be getting a computer when he gets his tax returns... I don't know when.
I know Jebus is not online often, but he is looking forward to playing. LKru33 is almost always here and if I add RSF to the Beta division, we should have some nice competition.

by "the way it comes in the package," you do mean downloaded the ver 1.4 patch correct?
If we don't play with at least ver 1.4, then count me out. There are too many bugs and ways to manipulate them, and getting a throng of master gremlins. Or getting like 15 basilisks day 1 etc...
There are also a few bugs where you can take all the creatures off your scout and have it run around super fast.
And as to playing with "no rules" all the better. I hate people who play sit in rooms at the zone with game descriptions like
no h&r, fly, dd, tp, log, lvl 4 heros, res, blind... Maps: only play dw, hg3 and n vs s, will not negotiate these rules

ok, then you could take Stargazer's place.
Then well be full.
Are we all in accord on this?
EDIT sorry RSF, I didn't see your post. Yes, I meant version 1.4 It's good to know you like playing no rules.
OK, before I get this show on the road, I would like a few opinions on the joining of RSF and BboyJohn.

Learning each game the hard way, I've found out why some rules are applied. I played a toh game against someone on a random map and he wanted no rules. Me being new, I am looking for any game as long as we both finish, so I agreed to no rules. After week 3, I broke out of my zone (jebus template large map) and was ready to battle only to find out that my opponent acquired the angel wings and flew out of his zone 1 week prior To make a long story short, I was still ready to battle, but everytime I would get near him, he would fly over a barrier and escape. I spent the rest of the game chasing him until I finally just gave him the game. I am still not opposed to "no rules" as I know not everyone plays like that, just thought I would share 1 scenario I had recently experienced.
Food for thought

I understand your point of view, and we've all been there. Technically, it should balance out in the next game or so. What is fair for him will be fair for you in another game.
For example, one game me and léo played in the noob tourney, I could see his castle at the beggining of my game and he could not. (you can read on this in the earlier pages of this thread.) He played honorably and I won easily, but next time I might not be so lucky and loose against you perhaps!

Ha, not likely... unless you are a doob extreme (too stoned to build anything in castle, having fun looking at the funny leprachaun dance). My chaining skills are not that great yet, but I can only learn by playing games Should be fun!!

That's why I've never been all that into Randoms. Randoms are always flawed. The one game I did play with randoms, had vast areas of empty grasslands with almost nothing in it. And rather than getting useful buildings, I had probably 5 or 6 star axis. Granted this isn't going to hurt to have the boost in stats, but nonetheless, it would be nice to get some more useful structures.
Randoms should definitely have rules like no fly or dd, because you will find that every fixed map always takes out all the game changing spells and artifacts like that. Angel Boots are ridiculously unfair imo.
The game shouldn't be decided on who picks up angel boots week 1. Anyways, I think that a good fixed map will almost always be better than a random map. I don't mean maps like hg3. Those maps aren't realistic. Heroes aren't supposed to have stats like 29 18 35 22.
I mean maps like Seven Lakes. That map will always be better than a random imo.
Edit - Here's a couple maps that I created. I'm not sure if you would like them or not, but I definitely enjoyed playing them.
Forts Come First I think is the best one, however it's very different from just about any map you will play.

I have taken offense...
First of all, RSF, there is nothing wrong with having 940 points in ToH...I think that I have even less! Hahaha!
Secondly, LKru, are you knocking my dOOb status? You better not be, you bOOb! Oh, and I'll have you know the Leprechaun is actually performing a jig. And I don't mind one little bit staring at him for one of my whole turns, admiring his expression of cultural pride...ok?! I don't mind replacing old players that have been inactive for a long time, as long as we give them the chance to "touch-base". If you sent out emails & IMs a while back, Conan, and still haven't heard from them by now...then I say go for it! This is what I have to say about Randoms...I don't mind them one bit! If ever I play a map that is unfairly balanced against me (as was the case against Conan & tigris), then fine! At least I have an excuse to explain my loss. If ever I were to play a "fair-&-square" map, it would be painfully obvious to anyone that I totally suck! At least with a Random map, I have something to point the figure at...I have a scapegoat...I have a little self-respect intact after being destroyed!
