I would say shorten the sword to a dagger, and get rid of the cape and helmet. You have to remember that the skirmishers in the roman army were the lightest troops so that they could run into shooting range of the enemy ranks, shoot at them and run back to the protection of their own lines before they get attacked.

Well, I got off the Skirmisher idea and went to lvl 5. I think a mechanical unit doesn't fit in (same for lvl 7), and my suggestion is instead of Scorpion/Field Balista I think we should have Gladiator/Gladiator Champion. What do you think?

Well if we're gonna have gladiators they should be in the lower levels, since they were not professional soldiers. Remember that Marcus Crassus defeated Spartacus's army of 120,000 escaped slaves and gladiators with only 8 Legions (about 48,000 legionaries).
But perhaps they can be weak but with a good specialty like never having negative morale (like minotaurs) since they were slaves and had no choice but to fight.

Well any other suggestions for Skirmisher or Gladiator?
PS: I think that instead of medics we should have Lion tamers/Lion Riders.
EDIT: I also think we should have Priests/Clerics.

Not Lion Tamer and that stuff... the lions were used without anyone taming them. You should have Lion (female lion) and Lion King (male lion).
