Good Point.
Here is a Lion (I don't like the idea of a female unit upgrading into a male):

I know it is easily made (erase Manticores' extra non-lion parts and add a Gog tail) but I couldn't think of a better way to make it. About the Lion King, should it be red like the Scorpicore or something else?
PS: I think it should be either lvl 6 or lvl 4, with priest/cleric being the level the Lions aren't.
EDIT: Lion King, didn't come out that good...

Ok I just go a great Idea: Let Legion heroes capture prisoners and turn them into gladiators with the same principle as necromancy.
For example a victorious legion hero having an expert version of that skill can capture 40% of the total number of units in the defeated army as slaves and turn them into gladiators.
This would be cool because this was usually the way that the Romans actually got most of their gladiators. I dont think they should be buildable, but would have stats similar to auxiliaries.
And in general I came up with a way to cut down on the amount of work needed to create the legion of town: Make all the non-upgraded units of the town a mix of non-upgraded units from other towns.
For example:
Level 1 basic- Peasant (gives 5 gold per day when in a garrison)
Level 1 upgraded- Auxiliary
Level 1 second upgrade (for quicksilver)- Skirmisher
Level 2 basic- Pikeman
Level 2 upgraded- Legionary
Level 3 basic- Swordsman
Level 3 upgraded- Decurion (gives speed bonus to Legionaries)
Level 3 second upgrade (for quicksilver)- Centurion (gives speed and attack bonus to Legionaries)
Level 4 basic- Pegasus
Level 4 upgraded- Equitatus (relatively weak cavalry, but with very high speed and the flaking attack bonus I talked about earlier)
Level 5 basic- Monk
Level 5 upgraded- Healer (can cast ressurection on every turn)
Level 6- Still undecided (maybe field ballistas, or something with lions like somebody suggested)
Level 7 basic- Cyclops
Level 7 upgraded- Field Catapult (a cyclops loads the catapult for every shot, has high damage and no distance/obstacle/wall penalty but weak defence and cannot retaliate if its attacked)
Level 8- Mithras Catapult (a field catapult with higher stats and ranged retaliation and maybe 2 shots per turn)

I like the Necro-like idea, but I'm not sure about the creatures. I prefer to work more than have an unoriginal town with monsters from other towns. I still don't think it is a good idea to have a lvl 7 mechanical creature, maybe it can be lvl 5 or something, and I think monks and healers should be replaced by priests and clerics. Also, like necro raises skellies, I think Slavary (that can be the name) should "revive" recruitable creatures.

Well I want the Legion town to be both somewhat true to how the Roman armies actually functioned and original in regards to the game. I think the creature lineup I created is a good compromise between these two priorities. If you have other suggestions please post them but for now the level 7 catapults and healers are non-negotiable. The healers are a compromise already since I originally wanted them to be called surgeons like the Romans called them be we here decided that the name "surgeon" wouldnt fit with the theme of the game. The Roman armies were notable for recruiting good civilian doctors to care for their soldiers so the healers stay.
Plus you have to remember I dont want the Legion to be an "ubr pwnage" town, I want it to be balanced. So their main strengths will be the very strong low-level infantry units (legionaries) which will be supported by all the other units, like it was in the real Roman legions.
Their weaknesses are a lack of ranged units until the late-game period and that the higher level units are rather fragile in comparison to other towns. But the point is that they are there mainly to support the legionaries and not to win the battle by themselves. If you play with the legion you need very good tactics rather than lots of high level units, but if used with proper tactics the legion is very powerful.

Well I still think that the Catapult should be lvl 6. Another opinion, I think that Gladiators should be a low lvl (3?) unit and that Slavary should "revie" about 20% with expert, along with buildings in towns (like maybe Slave Camp). Lvl 7 unit can be Colesseus/Thunder Colesseus, which are similar to Titans. I still need your opinion about my creatures and NOT using creatures already in the game.

Well as I said the Colossus wouldnt introduce anything new to the game unlike the catapult. And as for gladiators They cant be level 3 because they have to be weaker tan legionaries which leaves them at level 1, perhaps they can be the strongest level 1 unit for legion but not any higher, simply because of how easy it is to get them and that they are after all just captured slaves, which are almost never good fighters. The flashy gladiators of the arenas are only great in the movies in reality less than 1% of them lasted longer than a couple of fights, the rest were just meat to be slaughtered.

Quote: Lvl 1- Gladiator/Gladiator Champion
Seems OK since they never were trained in real war.
Quote: Lvl 2- Skirmisher/Lancer
Also fine...
Quote: Lvl 3- Legionary/Legionary Captain
These were the best fighters in the world at that time, higher level!
Quote: Lvl 4- Medic/Herb Medic
Ok...
Quote: Lvl 5- Field Catapult/Battle Catapult
How could a catapult attack at close range? Doesn't fit as creature.
Quote: Lvl 6- Lion/Lion King
Even Gladiators fought lions, they should be lower level, maybe switch with Legionary.
Quote: Lvl 7- *This one should be something that represents their gods*
What about putting something from Greek mythology?

About the Field Catapult/Battle Catapult, Mr48 wanted a mechanical unit. It should be a range attacker, with the guy loading it attacking at close range. About the 7th lvl, I suggested Colesseus/Thunder Colesseus.
What do you think of the graphics and the Slavary idea?

Everything should be made GOOD. I would like to see a person pushing a ballista instead of a catapult... The colossus thing reminds me to much about Titan... and what town should it replace?

Well I hope that it doesn't have to replace everything i WOG 3.59, but if it does, I would say Castle.

Look we already talked about this, gladiators in Rome were mostly from captured slaves in wars, thus they cannot be recruitable at your home base. Second, I dont want some new "giant" its just not interesting or creative, and brings nothing new to the game. If you REALLY want a fantastical unit I might be persuaded to let level 6 be a lion-drawn (since you like lions so much) chariot or something. But everything else stay the way I laid it out unless you can convince me with new arguments.
I dont want to create a a combination of castle and tower here, I want something with completely new game elements in heroes.
And the reason I want the non-upgraded units to be already from the game is that so we can make the town playable as soon as possible. Once we do that we can work on making more unique units to replace the existing ones.

Please don't be mad. I know you want this town to be as much as Ancient Rome as possible, but you also need to consider that after getting every creature in the town (taking up every monster slot) the "Slavary" skill will be pretty much useless. I know you want this town to be realistic, but also remember that this is a game and if you do it too much realistic, this town might be overpowered/underpowered.
