No problem there William! as said in the HC FAQ, each and every one of us should stand up for justice and do his best agains any offenders or offence (planned or accidental) being conducted at HC.
As for the Titans base damage, what you said is the minimum damage of Titans in HOMM III. Unfortunatly, the base damage of Titans in HOMM II is only 30 damage (damage is 30 - 40)

I think you mixed it with some other versions of heroes. Titans in Homm2 have a damage range of 20-30. (20+30)/2 = 25. That's what I took as an average damage.
A funny thing is that by using an editor, I made a barrow mound close to my castle. First week I have 10 ghosts. First month I have 300 ghosts. You can't even have upg. cloud castle (resources) week 1, so...
If you still think that titans rule, its okay. No offence.

Titans are mighty, yes. In 1 on 1, they lose to Black Dragons only. This has been proven - with Titan going first, the Dragon still wins. In an army, it depends on the build which creature rules. But the Ghost is always the strongest creature - IF you can get a hold of it. I once got a few and then attacked a huge stack of peasants. Was XL map, and it was week 3 on a hotseat game. My opponent forfeited at that moment even though he had his LV6 and I didnt (was playing Warlock, he played Necromancer).
Titans are mighty. Dragons are mightyer. Ghost are mightyest

Is this thread about the best unit or the strongest unit... If its the latter, then its BD. However when it comes to being the best (ie. all other factors besides strength considered), ghosts are by far number 1 on the list due to their exponetial growth ability... find a neutral stack of peasants week 1 and its game over

Well of course you are going to kill Peasants week 1.
Anything can kill Peasants as they are the weakest unit in the game

He means that if you get ghosts and you find a stack of peasants, THEN its game over for your opponent. I have 10 ghosts and fight 100+ peasants. Bye Bye Peasants, HELLO huge army. And with that, you can own anything on the map, growing larger and larger.

Still, you should give the ghosts a try. Take your loved Mage's town, edit in the map editor a few ghosts in your starting army (Somewhere around 5 should be enough, if you have weak neutral units around), and start the rampage.
Play on a large map, preferrably. Keep accumulating both Ghosts and Titans.
Then, in the end, look at the damage your HUGE stack of Ghosts will do, compared to the damage your Titans will do. Quite the difference.
Try them. You'll like it

Angelito is right guys. Leave William alone. Just because he has a strong opinion on something, and you can't convince him to change it, doesn't say you should charge him at every turn. As the faq states, there is no room for offense (not the skill offense!) in HC, so just give it a rest (you won't make William change his mind anyway, you know). As for who is best: if talking who is strongest, it's a very close call betwen the Titans and Black Dragons, with BD taking the match by just a bit. If talking about the best... these are shorely ghosts, with their remarkable ability, if you can find them... On a custom map you can make whatever change you like, so make a map with ghosts (better to put a borrow mound) and have some fun. But on most maps you won't find ghosts, and even if you will, they will propably be your enemies, so be carefull.
And William, I am looking foreward to hear your opinion on ghost after you play a map with a borrow monud near your castle. Still, for me, from all the creatures you can get INSIDE your town, regularly, on any map, the best is the Titan (maybe that is what William is trying to tell us)

I think he won't play ghosts anyway, because the presence of them decreases morale of his precious titans. Anyway, no offense. You can still think it your way, but in multiplayer you would quickly change your opinion. No offense. Even if you were pro-dictatorship, we would still accept you as you are. No offense

Well done keeping the "no offense" attitude (laugh).
And by the way, do any of you have a multiplayer map that has some borrow mounds in a reachible location?
I would love to have a match with Supersonic and with William to, so we can settle this issue. William can play as Wizard, Supersonic as Warlock, and I as a Necromancer.

Yer right. Don't forget about a tight formation. My black dragon loves to smack 2 units at once. Knight kicks ***. Zombies rock. Wat d'ya want people? I am playing barbarian. Cyclop with his nice average speed will kick ya before you have a chance to react. It also has a huuuuuuge chance of paralyzing.
Let's play it this way - 3 knights with barrow mounds.

yeah the thing is this is supposed to be a forum for discussion. but william is not really discussing anything, he's just repeating the same thing over while ignoring what anyone else has to say, without really bringing up any points other than "titans rule". you can write the most well thought out post, but he will still reply with the same thing. to me, that's just spamming.

Then just donīt try to convince him with your "always the same posts".
You should have recognized already, that he canīt be convinced by theory. Get a game going with him and beat him...if he has saved every turn and will replay them one by one (and if YOU played good!), then he will prolly change his opinion.

someone make the map
should we just do something like modify broken alliance (william can have the titan island which has like two gold mines plus two wiz castles), and change one of the start locations so it has a burrow mound plus a stack of peasants nearby?
i've never done h2 multi (other than hotseat) so is it possible to save replays? or take screenshots?

I think with sorceress you can defeat all the castles on a lot of maps. Not just necro and barb. Of course tower and dungeon too (whatever they are called there).
Sorceress + Barbarian hero = super fast map clearing & town taking.
and ghosts are completely out of control... you have them and your opponent does not - game over
even more unbalancing than diplo

True my friend. That's why I picked phoenix as the best. You will always start first and cast armageddon for example. Everything, except phoenix and BD will die, but you still can boost you phoenix so that it wins the final battle.
